I'm submitting various form variables as arrays, so when I do try to
access them when the form is submitted, i do a split on the variable
and pop it into an array.
for example:
aDescriptions = split(request.form("strDescriptions"), ", ")
The problem however is if a description contains a comma in the text,
it throws off the split function.
Question is, is there a way to change the delimiter of the form array
to something other than a comma. Or does anyone here know a more
elegant workaround.

I know you can use the split function to split a comma delimited string but i want to split a string of numbers which have nothing delimiting them. Is there any way to do this?
What I need to do is to create a form of a dynamic size, and then save everything from the form in a database. The number of forms depends on a number from the database which I know how to get. I need to have a comment and a number, for example if the number from queried from the database is 2, then I need 2 forms, and it would be something like so:
Comment: Something Number: 4
Comment: SomethingElse Number: 6
When the user clicks the submit button, this would be saved in a database in a table, in a new row. I have the database created and inserting works very good when inserting just one row, but I need to insert more then one row at a time, so it would be something like this: Code:
I am trying to do some client-side form validation using vbscript. The form consists of 15 rows, with five fields in each row. For example, I want to be able to look at the contents of the 3rd field in the 9th row. How do I reference that field using vbscript? Do I loop through a collection?
what i want to do is have a (multi dimensional?) array, so that each second dimension represnts a row of radiobuttons. The trouble is i don't know what to name the arrays as. Obviously for each row the names for the different radio buttons will be the same, meaning you can only select one.
in php you could do it with a single array as you name each row of radio button differently:
1st row: name='array[0]' 2nd: name='array[1]'
in asp it doesn't look like you can do it this way, because to create a similar array you'd do something like 1st row: name='array' 2nd name='array'
then use split in the recipient script. This does not work however, because each radiobutton (on all rows) has the same name, and therefore when you click one all the rest on every row are unclicked..

if i have a vbscript function on a certain form and I assigned some values on an array variable on that function, is there a way for me to retrieve the values of that array on another asp page once i submitted the form?
This query sort on the basis of Lft and Rgt columns.
The name of the array is: aEmp.
My question here is how can I get only the LastName from the aEmp array into another array so that I can sort the names alphabetically and then display the employees in the alphabetical order.
Or is there is another way I could this by using the same array while keeping the lft and rgt sort of the query? If I sort based at the SQL query level, I can see the names sorted by the lft, rgt and lastname, but since the lastname is at the end of the sort list - it does not appear alphabetically.
In working with arrays, I have found that I am unable to dimension and array with a variable that has an integer value but I can redimension one this way. I haven't see any information that tells me if this is a requirement, although it appears to be because I get an error if I try it.
Ex.

I want to create a new array called arrNames2 and copy contents of arrNames to arrNames2.
I then want to loop through my db and add more names (while going through the loop) to arrNames2. What is the best way to do this? Do I have to keep redim the array wehn I add more names?
I´m having a problem using ASP Upload with an insert form..
If I use ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" the all the parametres i might get with request.form don´t appear.. but i can upload the files.. Besides if I take away the ENCTYPE tag, i can´t upload but the INSERT INTO form works propertly

I have a form that is dynamically generated since it is populated with values retrieved from a database. The form can of course also be submitted, which is where I run into some problems.
Since I never know in advance what the length of the form (or for that matter what the different elements' names and values) will be I don't know how to write the code in "receive.asp" to retrieve all values from the form correctly without excess use of "request.....".
I shouldn't have to write requests for every single potential element name that is stored in the DB. Please note that the form can sometimes also contain radio buttons and check boxes, even though they are not present in this short example Code:
I have a page in my admin system where the user can edit products they have added. The problem I am having is with Related Products. These are all listed in a multiple list. The problem is that in my 5 years of programming in various languages i have never really understood arrays (DUMB @$${lol}) What i want to do is offer an advanced search of a database table on my website. I currently offer the functionality so that the whole of the database can be viewed within the web page so that it doesn't need to be downloaded/need access to view it. What i need to do is run a script that takes all of the column headings that i have and put them into an array. Then with the array i need to output each element into a drop down box.
Ok what I have is a little script which runs through my stock compares how many of one item we have compared to what we need and displays the out come.
What id like to do is make an array with the item name so lets say If how many is needed is greater then 0 then add the name of that consumable to an array and move on until the end.

I want to set up an array that goes through all the input feild values that I already put into variables such as Title1, Title2...so on. It then replaces ' with '' so the apostrophe can be entered into the database. So it:
Creates an array by looping through the variables that get the form feilds.
Then loops through the array and replaces the ' with '': Title1=(Replace(Title2, "'", "''"))
I'm looking to make an admin page for a web photo gallery, and I need to make a drop down menu showing all files in a given directory that do not have comments in a database for the given filename.
I'm curious about the most efficient way to do this. I don't want to query the database separately for each file as this would be horribly inefficient. I'm thinking about two arrays, one containing all filenames in the photo directory, and one containing filenames from the database that have descriptions.
Is there a simple way in ADO to do a set operation on arrays, that is to produce array C that has all elements in array A that are not contained in array B?I can do this with while loops, but there must be a better way.
