I'm building a website using the oracle database engine. i'm conneting to the database using the odbc. the database is created on a webserver. when i'm using the odbc on my local workstation the connection works. but when i'm trying to publish the site i receive the following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 5 (Oracle in OraHome92).
/arabic/news_index.asp, line 46
line 46 is when i'm opening the connection.
Note: what i mean with "my local workstation" is when i call the website using the localhost. and i mean by "publish the site" is by giving the website a dns name.

An error keeps popping up on my ASP application connecting to an Oracle 9i database via a SELECT statement:
Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
However, if I put it an "On Error Resume Next", it works fine, and is able to return the value in question. The SELECT also works fine on the database itself. Here's the SELECT,
sqlstr = "select f_get_dept_name('123') dept_name from myschema.tbl_xyz"

How can I resolve the ASP to take in the right characters for the birthdate?
i have created an ASP page and have to retrieve some values from oracle tables. Please help me with the connection syntax as weel as the code for retrieving some data from the tables .
I have converted my database from Access to Oraclec and of course I have changed my queries to work with oracle transactions.
My question is : I have a query that searches my Oracle Table for matching fields, it only returns the fields that matches the search criteria with case sensitivity.
In other word, if I enter "test" as my search string and and the table field is stored as "Test" no result is retrieved. If I search for "Test" then I get the result. Code:
I have been writing basic ASP pages now for a little over a year using access databases and javascript as my scripting language. I've been able to do about anything I needed so far. Now comes time when I wanna make a simple ASP page for my work to help thing move a little faster. However they use a Oracle database.
So the problem I think I'm going to run into is how do I connect to this database? The server that will be running the ASP pages isn't on the same machine as the Oracle database but it is on the same network. In the past I have always used the following for my connection.
I have a project coming up soon where pdf files are stored in our oracle database. They want me to pull the pdf form out of the database and present it to the user on the screen. I've done a little searching on google, but haven't been able to find anything that helps. Can someone tell me if this is possible and if so, give a little example?
I have built a page that lists all our databases, the users connected to each database, and what application they are using. Because these databases are moved, or removed from time to time I need to check if the database still exists before trying to query it. Otherwise I get funny SID errors when it tries to process this command:-
I'm trying to access a stored procedure in oracle using asp/jscript.
I get an error message complaining about the parameters; [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'UPDATE_BAKERY_USER' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
I've been trying to transition an application from an Access db to an Oracle db. I've got the base functionality down, but it's slooow. I'm prety sure that the 8 processor IIS and Oracle servers are more than capable of the low traffic that my code creates.
My question is, what's the most efficient way to do this? I've been and still am doing research on cursors, locktypes, etc... But, I haven't come across something that is similar, so I thought I'd see if anyone here has had the same experience.
Currently my connections/recordsets look like this: Code:
I'm returning a date (5th Jan 2004) from Oracle using the following query:
select TO_CHAR(invoice_date,'DD/MM/YYYY') from...
This should return my date in the UK format, and it certainly appears to be doing just that in Toad. And it also looks correct in my form as it shows as:
05/01/2004
However when I submit my form I am having to convert the date to an Oracle format using this function: Code:
