Is it possible to add a stored proc to a table adapter and execute the proc
inside an ASP button click event?
I have a table adapter called Claimers and a sp called AddWatch. On the
onclick event I would like to call the table adapter and execute the sp.
Note that the sp does not return records. Code:

as I'm in the process of performance tuning, I'm trying to receive a NUMBER type array from a Stored Procedure.I made a VARRAY OF NUMBER in my stored procedure. I'm not able to receive this in a Function in ASP.

parameter of a stored procedure (which runs in an SQL Server).
If I add the parameter like this:
oCmd.Parameters.Append oCmd.CreateParameter( "@p_Date", adDate,
adParamInput, , dParam)
where oCmd is of type ADODB.Command and dParam is a VBScript variable of
type Date
then when trying to execute the stored procedure I get the following error:
Optional feature not implemented
I was able to get round this by passing a string value in an adVarChar
parameter, but it would be easier and more readable with adDate and
Date-type variables. Is this latter possible?
Is it possible to call a stored procedure asynchronously from an ASP page?
We would like to be able to execute a proc and have the page continue to
process without having to wait for the proc to finish. I know you can make
a dll and call it from there, but we'd rather just be able to keep it simple
and call it from the page if we can.
I am using SQL SERVER 2005 and ASP.
Would anyone be kind enough to give me a solution to the problem below please?

The question is supposing there is a node called 'Surname' but I am not adding 'Surname' to 'Author'. If I want to check 'Surname' value DOES exists and I want to replace it with 'Author' or if 'Surname' does not exist, just use 'Author' node instead.
I am not sure how you can use IF statement to check a node and put the value into SET @surname and then put something like author VARCHAR(100) '@surname' OR author VARCHAR(100) '@Author'. Just like switching it around.

The SP seems to work OK, but I'm having problems getting at the returned key in my ASP code:
"Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal."
A common error, but in this case I can't see why... I output the SQL instruction that is sent to the DB and have run it in Query Analyser and it runs OK and returns a single row, with a single column - the new primary key...
But when I try and access this in ASP, I get the error message....

I have written a stored procedure that take 5 - 8 minutes to fully execute..
I wrote this routine as a stored procedure because I started to create all
the functionality via ASP but I kept getting time out errors on my ASP page.
The problem is that when I call the stored procedure from the ASP page the
server waits for the procedure to complete before returning the ASP page..
Is there any way to avoid this? I would like the user to be able to trigger
the stored procedure and have the page returned right away..
I'm trying to update several rows to the same table of a datbase using ASP & an access database.
But I can't seem to get it working. I can get it working for one row but more than that won't work. The amount of rows that need to updated is never the same.

I have a table with many txt boxes which i have inside a form with a submit button to an update page which adds all the details to a db. Is there any method (maybe via js) where on leaving the second page l can redirect the browser to the table row the end user clicked on? Hence the bookmarking. Can do this via Visual Basic on the desktop app, but can't work it out on the web app.

View Replies View RelatedI have two tables. Table A has 20,000 records, Table B has 2,000 records. Table A is what needs to be updated from the data in Table B. Only some fields will be updated and of course, only some records - both tables have the same field as a ClientID so matching up records should be easy.
Anyways, been a while since I have used ASP to work on things like this but would like to work through this one. I understand the process I believe, it is just how to make it go on to the next record once it has finished updating the first.
Basically, I was thinking of having it set up to reaad the top record from Table B, update applicable data in Table A. Delete that record in Table B. Move on to the next.

So here's some more beef...
There is an update the first part of the query that takes ~50 seconds
and the connection gets cut off at 30 sec sharp. Logical as the default value us 30 sec.
question :Does anyone know how to increase that value? I can't do it in the udl , it reverts back to nothing.
Option:
[1]I would/could also optimize that update using a hint to fasten it
[2] Or try to execute the proc without using the dsn?
Using ASP 3 on an ISP account (I don't have access to the root of the
server). I have a page that does some intake processing and I'd like to have
it run every 5 minutes. Right now, the only way I can see to do this is to
have a client task that wakes up every 5 minutes and opens that page.Is

then i enter the remaining information into ither the staff or student table. what i am trying to do is select the perimary number that is generated as the userid and passeword are enterd. and add this to the second table. Code:
