ASP Can No Longer Query MySQL

I have a Fedora Core 4 server with cPanel which is my master server shall I say. And 2 days ago, cPanel did an update which brutally murdered my MySQL 4.0.25 on the system, so I was forced to upgrade to 4.1.18. So we did that, and all is working now...

Now, my business has satelite servers that revolve around the master server. It allows people to remotely start and stop services on those satelites, and it uses ASP to remotely connect from the satelite, to the MySQL database on the master server to retrieve information regarding the users.

So yesterday, after the upgrade, my satelites seemingly connect to the MySQL server (it does not give an error), but it does not perform a correct query, thus no users on the network can start or stop their services. It just says "Invalid user or server". Now, the MySQL connection is working, because I have other software that authenticates thru the Master Server MySQL database that is working perfectly... I just think it is something wrong with the code on this Activ Serv... I had the program custom written about 2 years ago..

I have tried upgrading the MyODBC driver from 3.51.10 to 3.51.12 and that did nothing to help.

I have the entire code which is right here. Of course it uses a executable on the server to start/stop services and collect process ID information. But the queries are not working correctly so the executable never even runs... Code:

Query MySQL Database Using ASP.

I wish draw data from a MySQL Database using ASP.

The Code I have so far:

<%
dim adoConn, adoRS
set adoConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
set adoRS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
adoConn.Open "driver={SQL Server};server=SERVER-WEB;database=testing;uid=products;pwd=starmart"
adoRS.ActiveConnection = adoConn
%>

and in the asp page code:

116. <%=rsDaySummary.fields("PageViews")%>

This is obviously wrong as it returns this error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8'
Object required: ''
/stats.asp, line 116

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Query / MySQL / Access

I've got a query that works fine when used in mySQL but completely fails
when I try to apply it to MS Access, weird thing is that it is just a copy
of a stored procedure that works fine in the same copy (with the
Request.QueryString replaced by a fixed value) ! Any explaination would be
great, ID is a number BTW :

SELECT page_title,ID,page_content FROM content WHERE ID='" &
Request.QueryString("ID") & "' '

Had a look at aspfaq.com but couldn't find anything that applys.

Search MySQL Database Query

I'm creating a database search page and the table I want to search has fields linked to other tables in the database. For example, the job table has a number of fields, 2 of which are area and job type which are tables in the database. My search page has option for searching by job title, job type and job area (via dynamic drop-down).

Do I need to create a recordset for each referenced for the dynamic drop-downs to work?

ASP/Mysql Empty Text Field Query Error

I'm getting an error when I'm retreaving from a "text field" in the database and it has no data in it. I'm using MYSQL version 3.23.58-nt. I have the same script running a different system and I don't get this error. It justs output nothing and continues with the loop.

This has to be an ASP problem when retrieving data from the database. I've change the Field for Message to "varchar(252)" vice "text" in the database and stoped giving me error. But I still need to use the type "text" in the database since my "Message" will be longer then 252 caracter. Code:

ASP Script Takes Longer On Client Than Server

Let me paint the picture: A large MS SQL database (in 7.0) on a Win2K box (not that the Server O/S matters here really) and an ASP page that grabs data from it to present, of course, to the client browser. For the sake of conversation (since I have tested this oversimplified version of the problem) the code pulls a select * from blah (where blah is my BIG table - right now about 25,000 rows).

The problem/question is the time it takes to present the HTML to the client. The big question is...

Why would it take significantly longer to present the final (parsed) HTML on a remote client computer than right on the server? Note: I would normally consider the time it takes to "download" the HTML to the client, but in this case the actual "presented (parsed) HTML" is so small (it's only one integer inside the body tags), that could never account for the difference in time...and I mean significant..on the server...seconds...on a random client computer...many minutes...on my customer's machine...over an hour (which is, of course, my particular problem).

I obviously have to look at their ISP, but a)Again, the end-product HTML is very VERY small and b)the page does eventually present itself (so it's not timing out). I have the scripttimeout set ridicously high so that potential problem doesn't come up, but that's not the problem.

I just want to know what could be causing the significant time difference? Everything I know about the ASP "process" tells me this scenario should never happen (unless the HTML being sent is significant, of course, like a huge list, or something).

Need To Convert This Sql Query For Access To Identical Sql Query For Sql 2005..

My code retrieves a username and a password from a form. Then this information is compared to some usernames and passwords that are stored in a database. The important thing here is that the comparison must be case sensitive meaning that "passWord" is not the same thing as "password"

I have this code, working fine in access 2003

SQL = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE StrComp(username_column,'" & entered_username_in_form & "',0) = 0 AND StrComp(password_column,'" & entered_password_in_form & "',0) = 0"

but get the following error when I run it against my sql 2005 database.

[Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]'StrComp' is not a recognized built-in function name.

I don't know the corresponding t-sql for the query.

The trouble:

the count of total records displayed is correct and the first page is displayed correctly. But when i click on *Next* to go to the next page, all the records of the database get displayed (not the 2nd page of records from the query).

Currently,

strSearchwords = Trim(Request.QueryString("search")); where "search" is the name of Textfield1

ASP LIKE Query Using Parameterized Query

In Access you use "*" + [passed variable] + "*", + can be replaced with &
Calling a parameterized query in Access requires % be used in place of *,
however, all that I have read show dynamic SQL passed to Access:

However, my call is similar to:

conn.qMyLookup strVar, rs

If I modify the query in Access to:

"%" & [passed variable] & "%"

I get all records. If I only put it at the end, as suggested, I only get
matches at the end, not throughout the column. Code:

Mysql With ASP

Our website is currently developed in ASP/Mysql 4.
The dedicated servers on which it is currently hosted arrive at saturation.
Here is their configuration:
- 1 server PIV 2,8Ghz 1GB RAM with IIS 5 on Windows 2000
- 1 server Bi-xeon 3Ghz, 512 MB with MySQL 4 on Windows 2003
The website makes approximately 10.000.000 of pages seen and 310.000
visits each month (given by an external statistics tool), increasing by
10% each month.
The database is approximately 60 MB.
I made, I think, most of the optimizations on the database (cache,
indexes...).
According to our current web hoster, this saturation is due to a bad
management of connections between ASP and MySQL and recommends to us:
1/ to put the site on Windows 2003/IIS 6.
2/ to change our database from MySQL to SQL Server.
3/ to change our PIV to a second Bi-xeon.

I am trying to create a website in ASP with a database back-end.

I am ok when using MS Access, but I have recently read articles saying that Access is no good for dealing with multiple users accessing it at the same time, so I am worried that it will not be able to cope.

As an alternative, I am looking at MySQL.

I am completely new to MySQL, and even installing it seemed complex. I have installed it to the directory C:mysql, and using 'mysql front' I have managed to create a database with a few tables. The database is in the 'data' subdirectory along with the mysql database. Code:

Mysql And Datetime

I am using mysql as my database and which to use a datetime field, for both displaying the data and time and using it to sort the recordsets.

And although when you look at the Db it shows the data and time like this

yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss

however if you simply display the field it displays like this

mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss am (or pm)

I want to sort the data out so that it displays dd/mm/yyyy and there is no time, i can do this but wanted to know if there is a better way of doing it

My problems being I first have to work out if the date is below 10 then us a split function according, then the same with the month, then i have to use a massive if statement, to get it to display in words, and then I have to us the queries before so i can split the year, even if i use to fields in the db to store time and date i would still have the same problems, what is the best way to do this, Plus i may have more than one record to do, will this make a big different in processing my page if i say have 20 records to do.

and just to make sure is the timedate field suitable to sort my record sets out.

Decimals From MySQL

I'm as the topic notes, having some problems with recieveing decimal values from my database(MySQL). I'm pretty sure its a simple misstake, but since im pretty new to asp-syntaxes, I dont get it.

What I have is a table with a float(30,30) (yes, 30 decimals, its an experiment so I wanto "be safe"). I can take a variable, fill it with a jibberish numeric value say 1.111111111111 and write it in, works like a charm if I check the database manualy, however, I cant get it out!

Whenever I read from that database and into a value, I only get the first 5 decimals and the rest is left out, even if I display the database-value directly I cant get it to work!

If I do response.write MyResult("value") it still displays 1.11111 even if the actual value in the database is 1.1111111111->etc.

What could be wrong here?

If I do a little .....
