I am in the process of building a small Intranet application. Iam using ASP along with access backend on IIS 5.0.
Info will be sent from an HTML form, [an inventory report] various drop down lists, text boxes, etc.
This info from the form is then added to the mdb, but an administrator needs to pull the same form back to add further info to complete the form, [cookies?] and finally it gets exported to excel format and saved on the server. Also an admin page needs setting up so "admin" can confirm when some reports are completed and when others need completing, maybe this could be the way the first part of the form could be stored and pulled back from ? Could it all be done in MS office applications?
I have a site that currently collects info from a form. The info is then emailed to an elected email address. It occurs to me that perhaps there is some way of collecting the information and sending to a spreadsheet that would keep updating. THe information is all word based (as in mostly yes or no answers).
I have finished an access database, complete with forms and reports. I now want to convert the entire thing into ASP. My questions are: 1/ Can the visual basic in ASP do everything (call every function) that MS access can? 2/ Normally when you change a drop down list, or click a button, it runs code (a sub) without submitting the form. Is this possible with ASP? 3/ Can I still preview access reports through ASP? 4/ What else should I know/consider?
I am looking to make my company's access database (forms, reports, etc) available through a web server. Any idea what type of programming will be needed (ASP, JSP, PHP)? If there is anyone that can help me with this please let me know. I am willing to compensate them for their time and help. It should be a fun project.

Really Really need help from you who knows the code to open the switchboard in access database using asp. or Is there a way to link switchboard form to the asp page so that when i click on a link , it will open up the switchboard form (lets say the form's name is called "Contact") from the Access Database ?
I have an Excel database of Names and Email addresses that I have to use to send a monthly automated newsletter to. The thing is that my application uses Access, and I am not sure how I can avoid having to maintain two seperate databases. I have to take the Excel DB and convert it to Access, every time there is an update. Then change field names, and db structure for use in my app.
Do any of you know how I can have it either automated, or made a little less time consuming, and simple to maintain?
I have an intranet application written in asp using access as the backend database. My users have requested they be able to download certain data into an excel spreadsheet. I have limited asp experience and could use some help.
Ideally, the user would be prompted to save and name the file (save as dialogue) and then the data would be selected and saved into that file. I know I can use a select statement to select data directly into an excelspreadsheet using:
SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;Database=" & lcPathFile & "].[Sheet1] FROM myTable

They would like to use the web app to get the data they want on screen and then click a button to get that data and put it into specifc cells in the spreadsheet. is this possible?
Importing EXCEL worksheet into existing ACCESS tables is possible.
Is there any way i could import EXCEL worksheet into an existing ACCESS table using ASP code.Something like, i could upload a EXCEL file from a browser and then it can be imported into an existing table And if possible also check for duplicate keys and update those records. If no records exist then insert them.
Sorry if this is the wrong place but does anyone have a script which will export data from an access database to an excel spreadsheet allow a user to edit and then import the edited excel spreadsheet into the db?
Basically, I want to have an asp page that has a button where when you click on it, it opens up a file open dialog box where you can search for any excel file you want to import. Then, once a file is selected, I want to read all the contents of the excel file (from column A) to display into a listbox on the screen (so that each individual row from excel file would be a separate item in the listbox). Also, this data would have to be inserted accordingly into an access database .....
I have created a script that parses and excel file and inserts the data in an Access table. The script works perfectly fine, however I also need to extract a column comments via my script.Column comment is like a tool tip for any given column and therefore it occurs only on mouse hover, not in the actual column data.
I am trying to write a simple script that will allow me to have someone complete a form and depending on which location they choose an email will be sent to a specific person.
I have a page that validates and sends and email to me correctly, now I am trying to simply add a case statement that will allow me to change the recipient to the individual it needs to go to. What am I doing wrong? Is there another way of doing this?
Basicly I would like to know how to transfer data entered on a form one one page, to another - for example a signup: Page one - Contains initial form Page two - other details form ] both pages emailed through the same form.
I am trying to take that is submitted in a form and put it into a querystring. I have a text field with the name "company_name" and has the value of <%= cCompany%> when submitted I want to take the value of the text field and send it to another page called submit.asp. then from the submit page I will append it into a table. I can append to the table fine but when I pass the value its blank. I have tried Request.Form(company_name) and Response.Write(cCompany). None of these seem to work the variable is always blank when I submit it. I can use javascript to get the value, which works correctly but cant dont think I can pass a javascript variable into a querystring.
how come the second one has the forms lined under eachother when the first one looks like it does? How do i make the "boxes" in a straight line under eachother?
I’m working on an Invoice page. The user may edit some of the vars on the page. Then The user will want to re calculate the totals. Then after seeing the re calculated totals then I will want to submit this info to the next page where the data will be put into a DB.
The question is how do I do this without using 2 forms, It looks like you can not put a form with in a form. Yet it looks like that’s the only way to be able to pass the vars iEither to the page where were calculate the vars, or the other page where we submit the data to the DB.
and want to pass two variables across my forum by selecting just the one. i.e. rather then just passing rsPrinter("id") id also liek to pass rsPrinter("ccid")
But dont know how to without making it joined when i cann it on the next page via request.form("printerid")
