Already have an asp page showing results from an access database table (supplies)
Need to know way select items from this list w/o the need of retyping to another form.
Also would like to be able to insert order_date automatically to another access table (orders).
If a sql query returns 20000 records then what is the fastest way to display records on a web page.

View Replies View Relatedi now have my dropdown connected to my database. everytime the user adds a new record, he simply has to choose a Department from the dropdown menu. However, when he tries to edit that record, the value that he has chosen from the dropdown and has been saved to the database cannot be retrieved in the dropdown menu.
so i want to retrieve the data from the database INTO THE DROPDOWN so it would be the default value of that dropdown menu when the user edits his specific record.
I have an sql statement like this executed with asp and mysql.
select * from table1, table2, table3
How can I read a specific field from a table when tables have same fieldnames.
So for example table1 and table2 have both a field named content.
What I would like to do is:
contenttable1 = recordset("table1.content")
contenttable2 = recordset("table2.content")
But then I get an error like item not found in recordset.
If i do this it works but i don't know which field I read from:
contenttable? = recordset("content")
I know that it works with Access but I can't get it working with MySQL.
Ive got a tool that is taking sugestions and updates from users and then generating a unique id based on the date and ID Autonumber field from an access db. I am using the addnew method b/c it is the way i know to immediately retrieve the id.. The problem is im trying to add the id back into the record on the same call. Is this possible?
My code is as follows but i seem to be getting duplicate records with unique id's.. But the thing that seems strange to me is that both records have their own unique id. If this were the case i would think that the first record would not have the unique id b/c it is not generated until after the first update call? Code:

The 2 SQl Select statements on my ASP page differ by the addition of one column ("Description") but in the 2nd case, column content is dropped (blank). I can get somewhat different results by adding other columns to the Select. Code:
We are running into problems with the script below, whose purpose is to allow users to choose values from drop downs populated by an MS Access DB.

im new to the rss "movement" and would like to implement it on
one of my companies internal sites. we have a site that allows users to
leave messages for other users based on email address. so for example i can
visit the site and type in my email address and if any messages are waiting
they will be displayed. the page uses a GET to fetch the messages based on
email address so the URL looks like this:

since the address is passed in the URL i imagine ill need an rss feed that
does the same kind of thing... can anyone point me in the right direction or
get me started with an example? im ot even sure if this is something that
can be done simply with some ASP object, or if ill have to actually write

planet name;
Text_1;
Text_2;
planetID;
Distance;

Im trying to write some asp code to copy MS Access Data into an Oracle database. I have one connection open to the access database but when I try and open the oracle connection it says that the ms access tables does not exist.
Basically what Im trying to do is get the data from a row in the Access db and insert it into a row in an oracle db.
The problem is that I cannot create an object at the Application level
using GLOBAL.ASA.
However, the aftfam object works perfectly well when created on an ASP page
using Server.createobject. It outputs "true556" which is expected.
The problems does not seem to be syntax since the reference to the
AUtils object seems to work just fine.
Is there some magic difference in my VB code that differs depending on how
I create the object?
I'm creating a folder...no problem there:

View Replies View RelatedI've been developing a dynamic content management system that you can hook up to any database (with minimal changes) and manage any of it's data. Ultimately, I'm looking to compile the scripts then sell them compiled so nobody can take the source code. Anyway, I'm not sure how to go about making a component out of these scripts and if anybody is willing to do this for me, I can either compensate you with money or a free copy of the software. If nobody knows how to actually compile the scripts, I guess the next best thing would be to point me in a direction of a company or whatever that can get it done for me. I've tried using ASP2DLL and various other articles with little luck. All of the VB code is in a single include file.

I'm attempting a login script where I first authenticate a user's login info for a valid connection. When I use a valid ID/Password everything works. When I use a bad user/password I get an error page stating the login failed.
I would prefer to redirect the user to another page on a failed login. This is the part that doesn't work. I'm new to ASP and JavaScript, but have done this kind of thing with PHP with no problems.

I have an access database with about 5 tables. One of which i want to populate data to. Specially 1000 enties at one time(In this example im adding employee numbers to a database table. Initially i want to add the for the employee name field " Unassigned" and when i ready to append a real employee name to the fields add if through a script(Can this be done?
Or is there a better way to do this?)This way, in my script i can call one of of those 1000 entries or employee numbers from a dropdowlist (ex. 1-1000). This way if go to use one of those entries from the dropdownlist the database would not get the " EOF/BOF error ". What logical suggestions do you guys have ?

Seems that whenever I want to enter strange characters it gives me an error. (I need to enter strange characters for an important reason).
Also I am having some problems with using ASP on Netscape (not testing...just clients are having problems). Does anybody have an idea of whats going on??
