View RepliesI am trying use the IP works ftp component to send a directory full of files to an ftp server, and all that is in the help for this is the methods with no example code for anything other than how to list a directory which works fine! But when it comes to uploading files I seem to not be having any success.
Does anyone implemented/created any facebook applications using ASP? Is there any recommended url? It seems that asp is lagging behind for web2.0 apps... but i still love asp.

View Replies View RelatedI have learnt how to use some aspects of php. But have got a little stuck on databases. Are there some easy examples to follow from the internet on how to modify databases in asp?
Is asp very similar to php? In the sense that you can achieve the same things with it?
is there an online dictionary that I can use to learn asp? especially one that can be kept and stored offline(I am not on the internet at home)
I have a table with two columns. ftr_sampler is set as varchar(255). I want the script to search for similar keyword in the ftr_sampler.
sample table:
id ftr_sampler
- -----------
1 I like to eat apple.
<% if RS3("ftr_sampler") = "%apple%" Then %>
Id 1 like to eat apple.
<% else %>
Id 1 does not like to eat apple.
<% end if %>
I'm developing with CF 5 and SQL Server 2000. I think they are both
great products. The major draw is their cost. I don't develop stand
alone products because anyone that wants to purchase them must also
purchase CF Server and SQL Server. So I run them as a hosted service.
MySQL is supposed to be free. If you are using this product, how do
you like it? What are you using for a front end?
I'd like to move toward developing software that some one can run on
their own webserver with the only cost being the software purchase.
That means the database and front end software need to be free (MySQL,
PHP, CGI). If the customer doesn't have these, they can download them
for free or small fee. What are some feasible alternatives to CF and
SQL Server?
Is ASP Apache comparable to ASP or ASP.NET? Everything will run on a
Lunix Server to keep cost down.
Where i can get similar script to ( http://www.vrating.com ) in ASP & Access

View Replies View RelatedIs it possible with 'classic' ASP to find out the SERVER_SOFTWARE of a remote server.
I wish to have a form where people can enter their domain name and then have a page that based on the form post determine what type of hosting the domain is using.
the next is my platform
IIS5
windows 2000
asp vbscript
My working area has the next virtual directoy:
testAc (corrective ambient)
testAe (evolutionary ambient)
testA (official ambient)
testBc (corrective ambient)
testBe (evolutionary ambient)
testB (official ambient)
Every virtual directory above mentioned , has the same content with littles differences but not important for cookies or for the structure of my
applications.
When I enter in my application I set up in my cookies my language and my profile informations.
I set up the cookies with an expires date and I set the cookie value with a response.cookies("lid")=VARLINGUA (VARLINGUA is an application variable that I have recorded in global.asa).
There is a problem with cookies when I open more of the above virtual directory at the same time or when I din't have cleaned my cookies in my temp files.
After my debug I have understood that my cookies are recordered correctly in my temp files (testAc , testBc ,testA etc....) and they contains the right content, but when I try to read my cookie with the request.querystring I read the double content of my cookie(In my case I have found 2 info about language and 2 info about my profile).
It is possible for you that I read the correct cookie but there is also another value in memory.
I think that IIS has problems to read cookies in virtual directory with similar names. I have this doubt because renaming my virtual directories with various(not similar for example testAc I have called Actest, testBe I have called Betest etc...) I do not have more problems.
What I want to do is to show always the latest post on our company NNTP
and the newest email in my inbox as an activex background on my desktop.
I'm building a site which runs on 4 templates, each a different colour. I would like to pull in different content into each template using ASP.NET, similar to the php version of index.php?page=content.
I've not programmed in ASP before so am hoping someone can either supply me with a script or point me in the right direction.
We're moving an asp site onto our fedora redhat server and I am fairly sure that I have installed all the proper modules to get apache to read the site properly, but when I bring the site up in Firefox it displays the actual asp code as text. I would assume this means that something is wrong somewhere along the way, and yet when I display the page in ie the site shows up fine? How could this happen?
Looking at it in firefox displays code and ie displays the site (with some errors, but it still displays)I'm a php/mysql personally so I have no experience with this, but as far as I can tell we have apache-asp support installed properly and the site should be showing up.
I have built a site completely with ASP.I am searching for free web host which works with ASP.give me a list web links of fre asp hosters.and i have used drive letters to access my database, how can i remove those drive letters (ex. "c:m.mdb").

View Replies View RelatedCDONTS works with all sites hosted on my test server bar one (which surely
rules out a miscomputation of the Default SMTP server in IIS). I have tried
uploading the file with make up the site in which CDONTS to one of the IIS

The bad mail dir gets three files each time, the error is:
Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered:
"Error is processing file in pickup directory.".
The specific error code was 0xC00402CE.
The solutions offered in various responses I found after a quick search all

View Replies View RelatedI'm an ASP beginner and did an application here locally on my IIS under W2000 Prof (SP4). Runs here completely great.
Now I wanted to place this application under a W2003 server online. Now always get the message:
Runtime error in Microsoft VBScript error '800a01a8'
object required: 'Application(...)'
/globalfunctions.asp, LINE 18
Funny, that line 18 in my globalfunctions.asp is empty. However I use the Application()-object in this file and the coputer seem not to find it. I read that it could have to do something with global.asa. I then created a global.asa and created the subs for the events but put no code inside. It changes however absolutely nothing.
What could I have still forgotten and why run it here locally? Possibly a rights problem?
Just to explain what's going on briefly... I've added an include to the top of all files on our site (this code is pasted below) to check IP address, and then some pages will display slightly different content for our Canadian or US customers.
This works fine in Firefox. However, in IE, when a Canadian visitor comes it doesn't display canadian content on the http version of any page. Once they go to a https page, it works just fine. After that, if they go back to an http page it still displays properly. Code:
I am using a GUID in asp e.g
i_GUID=(left(createObject("scriptlet.typelib")).guid,38)
and need to find out how reliable it is and how it generates a unique ID.
an example of the unique ID is {FEE7EECD-2E70-4E95-8EE1-C887B34EBB3E}
can anyone point me in the right direction for documentation on how this is generated.
Can someone please explain to me what server side validation is and how this works, also where do you put this, and in which programming language do you write this. Some examples are also welkom.I've never used this but I want to learn how.

All the rights, connection, global.asa, dataenvinroment.asa, etc are ok. If you hit after the error F5 maybe it runs ok or maybe it goes still in error After an IISRESET things get better, but after few hours it comes again.

I have a page which works fine testing locally on my win XP PC, using an access database file. When I place it on the server (all code and database file being the same)... it gives an SQL error :

I am using classic asp and making a connection to LDAP server using SQL code under IIS 5 on my localhost and it works great. I have a form and form fields that pull from active directory.
Now, once I get the web team to deploy these files to the webserver where all users will be able to run this app.(this server is using IIS 6), my form fields show up blank.
For the life of me I cannot see what is wrong or different except the IIS version. Also, I have gotten the IIS logs and they don't tell me anything. Code:
I've got a form that is activated by an external .asp page. I've finally got the validation of the form working, the javascript alert pops-up and correctly identifies the mistakes, but when I click OK on the js pop-up, the form submits and I get a data mismatch error.
I can't seem to figure out how to get the form to wait for the right data... Code:
Below is the generated source for an ASP page that posts a value called 'album' to another ASP page. The other page retrieves the value with Request.Form('album'); On Firefox this works fine every time. On IE6, I always get nothing. I'm pretty sure it's the posting side that is at fault, so that's what I've shown here. Oh, I tried Request.QueryString too and again, fine on Firefox, nothing on IE6....
View Replies View RelatedIf an ASP page works locally on your system but doesn't work remotely on the web hosts server and your only alteration to the page before uploading is your connection string to make it point in the right direction on their server then surely the fault has to be the path to the servers database doesn't it?
Or is there another possibility why the page would show up an error page.
