I have the following codes working fine on one PC running Win2000 Server, but fails on another PC running WinXP. When I check the system log, it tells me the problem is on line 8, that is :-
Can I use a WinXP Pro SP2 504MB of RAM as a server to host an ASP Application that would be allowed about a thousand people around the world to access to it?
How about WinNT 4.0 server? Can it handle that much people? Which one is better?
We're getting "ERROR (0x8007000E) Not enough storage is available to complete this operation" errors on a fairly large, busy ASP/SQL Server web site. The error is being thrown on a line calling oRs.GetRows() on one of our busiest pages. The array returned from the GetRows() call will be 'cleaned up' when the page goes out of scope, but I wonder if we should be calling Erase specifically after the last usage to explicitly free allocated memory. Is there any actual benefit doing this cleanup explicitly? I've always throught that ASP's memory deallocation was a bit spotty - can anyone comment.
My win 2000 server is connected with MS SQL server 2000 There are around 10 applications on this server. Some webpage will be refereshed itself within 20 seconds to retrieve update data in sql server This server run 2 years till now. Recently we face the problems. When refershing the page, it show 503 and 504 error sometimes
I am working on a document management system for a client. I am planning to set up the system so that documents are protected, sort of.. A user has an access level and based on that access level, a list of available documents will display as an HTML page and the user can click a hyperlink to download or view the selected document.
I am planning to handle this all through a SQL database and ASP..
What I would REALLY like to do, though, is protect a set of directories so that a user could not just enter a URL and download a document without being prompted for a username and password if he/she hasn't already logged in.
I have done something like this using AuthnetiX from Flicks Software, but this current client is trying to create a solution "on the cheap", and so I'd like to see if I can build the solution using the secuirty mechanisms built into the O/S.
What I'm thinking is that I'll set up the directories and assign a group access to each directory.. My question then is, can I add users to the "Local Users and Groups" for Windows 2000 via ASP?
It appears that after installing SP2 for WinXP, previous configurations are changed. to be more specific, it seems that the redirect function no longer apply. That is, before installing SP2 a certain function worked proparly, but now, I guess for some security reasons, it does not any more, IIS is refusing to go out of its localhost loop
I found a really good ASP.NET tutorial and thought that I would try to learn some ASP.NET. I spent ages trying to find IIS or PWS on my computer but i cant. I was then told that as i have WinXP Home i cant run either of these on my computer.
Does anyone know why this is or how i can get around this, cos i would like to learn ASP.NET.
I want to install IIS 5.1 on my WindowsXP machine. I do not have my WinXP CD. Does anyone know where I can download the necessary software to complete this installation? Also, I would like to update a webpage that is built with either asp or asp.net. (I did not make this webpage, and am new to both asp and .net) Is there a simple way to find out which was used to create this website?
Probably way off the mark here, but I have IIS running on my WinXP machine and I thought I could host multiple domains over the old Win98 method where I could only have the one?
All I can see at the moment is that I have a Default Web Site, which is associated to MyPC, and all I can create is virtual directories/folders within this default location. This means that instead of me being able to create the desired effect of: Code:
1. If I execute a script sometimes I got a "server busy" error from IIS, but there's only me accessing the site in my pc (localhost)!
2. Sometimes after execute a script that connect with msaccess db the protect file *.ldb don't desapear, for a long time, how can I remove without restart windows?
Has anyone succesfuly sent emails from Windows XP using localhost and if so can you please post a functional code?
My codes work fine on Win2000, but after upgrading to XP, I get all kinds of errors. When I correct the first one, another one creeps up. The latest am now getting is "send using ..... is invalid'
I know I can solve this peoblem by registering CDONTS. DLL on my XP box, BUT I want to use CDOSYS and not CDONTS. CDONTS is being phased out. Code:
I am having problem regarding utf8 (used by MySQL) and utf16 (used by WinXP)
I want to store the CJK string into both MySQL and use the string to create a new file name. The problem here is,if the string is in utf8, MySQL can accept it, but the filename will have strange character.
If the string is in utf16 format, MySQL will store as '???', and the filename will be created correctly in WinXP.
I have attached my code. Notice that, If I set @CodePage=65001 'UTF-8' WinXP/IIS will convert all the UTF8 string in the asp file to UTF16 for internal processing. MySQL can only accept utf8 for client connection, so aftï½…ï½’ UTF16 converted to UTF8, ??? will appear. Code:

Some people are using WinXP and Win2000 for servers and are having problems with CDONTS, so im gonna post a little code sample on sending emails with CDOSYS because it works better for WinXP and Win2000 and is also a better email compenent. Code:
I am using WinXP Pro and IIS. For some reason, I can not get any ASP pages to work. All I get is this error below. I have even removed all sites on the server, but I still get the error. Html pages work just fine. All permissions are in order. How do I fix this? When I view same pages on Win2000 machine, they work fine
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0134' Invalid ProgID attribute //global.asa, line 1 The object has an invalid ProgID of 'MSWC.MyInfo'.
I have been looking around at various design solutions for uploading a file using ASP and have found that many sources have devised a much simpler plan using ASP.NET.
My question is this, I have a box running Win2k Advanced Server, with the .NET framework installed. WIll that enable me to run some of the new functions etc. decribed in ASP.net ??
So I need to write the difference between the biggest and the smallest number in database table. I know that I need to take MAX and MIN from table, but I just can't get it work.
Example:
Let's say max = 5 and min = 1, I need to have it like this: 5-1=4 (max-min=total)
is there anybody know to code the time difference in asp? i used timediff, it returned a date, it should return a time actually. i tried the command in mysql n it's fine. but it's error when i switched to ASP. i hv refered to alot references such as sql time manual n other sites. but stil fail to find ans.
I'm writing an ASP app that administers an ISA server remotely. The fact that it's an ISA server isn't my problem I believe. My question? What is the security difference between disabling anonymous access and using account X from the web client, versusallowing anonymous access but using account X as the account that runs the application?
When I configure my web application to allow anonymous access, but set the anonymous process to use account X, my ASP code works (the ASP code can administer my ISA Server). When I disable anonymous access, and I log into the web application using the same account X I mention above, I get an error 80070005 when my ASP code tries to connect to my ISA server to administer it. I would think the above two options would be equivalent, but they're not. What is the difference?
I understand how asp scripting works and how you put <% %> around your server script. However this is .asp . what is .aspx? is this the new version ASP.nET? I dont understand how it works when i create a new aspx project in vstudio.net and i create a aspx page in design view.
I add a button and then double click it to add code to that button. I dont see any html code around it? In an asp page the server side code is surrounded by html code. An aspx page almost looks like a normal vb application, why is there no html code around?
A few weeks ago I was told in this forum that ASP would be a great solution to a large web site. I purchased a book about ASP.Net but have also seen info on ASP. Can you please tell me what is the difference between the two?
I don't know computer programming at all. Dreamweaver MX is the program I use. Can ASP be done with a WYSIWYG program? I have set up databases in Access & built web sites with DW MX I am not sure how to tie the two together.
