I noticed that when I process my aspx web pages in Netscape that the page is not interpreted correctly. Text boxes that are supposed to have no border, have borders, the font for arial is one size larger than what it is supposed to be, etc. Doe
Netscape plan to fully support the Net Framework system
I have been playing with some things and with lots of help from Doug and Techniweb I have a script that parses data from a sports web page and returns the results of a table with all the html stripped out - or most of it anyway.
Now I have been working on saving the info to a file so that I can input it to my DB. As far as I can tell the script info is in an array called "myarray" and I have come up with the following code to try and save it:
if Not objFSO.FileExists("nbastats.txt") Then objFSO.CreateTextFile(Server.MapPath("nbastats.txt")) Set objFile = objFSO.GetFile(Server.mapPath("nbastats.txt")) Set objWrite = objFile.OpenAsTextStream( 2,-2 ) 'Response.Write( myarray ) 'Response.End() objWrite.Write( myarray ) objWrite.Close() Set objFile = Nothing Set objWrite = Nothing
If I change obj.write and response.write to any of the other named process of the script i get results - obviously they are not completely parsed. When I try it as it is above - which should be the completley parsed data. I get this error:
i'm putting together a shopping list for the programs i need.i've always built my previous websites with dreamweaver and photoshop.my question is to you is: what programs would be nice.which programs i need.which are the best.and which i want to stay away from.
A site that i developed with asp seems to work perfectly in internet explorer - however there is a problem with netscape 6.2 + 7 where 2 table Columns are being pushed over to the right - the strange thing is when i use the back button on the browser and go back to the page it seems fine.
i was just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem + if its easily fixed.
I would like one ASP program to execute another ASP program and then continue execution with the first ASP program.
According to “Beginning Active Server Pages 3.0” from Wrox, the following code should work:
Server.Execute "ups_trans_send_ds.asp" However, I’m getting the following error message: Object doesn’t support this property or method: Server.Execute I’m using Personal Web Server 4.0 on Windows NT (with Service Pack 6)
I have a web application designed to allow non-english characters to be entered in through a form, held in Access and displayed on another page. Each of my pages have the following meta tag:
My problem is this: if I go to the data entry page and enter Unicode text in Netscape, the text displays ok -- in Netscape, not in IE. Conversely, when I enter Unicode text in IE, the text displays ok -- in IE, not in Netscape.I have been testing it by copying and pasting text from the Unicode.org page such as this one for Arabic:
I have stored all my css classes etc in an asp file, or should I say in my favorite html editor, when it asks me where to save my css, I name it as css.asp.
Now everything works totally fine in IE, but when I went to test my first few pages in netscape ( testing my javascript functions ) none of the backgrounds would appear, and all the text was different. Code:
Is there a good way to debug ASP programs? The scenario, I have a function called GetRecordSet which is exactly what it does - gets record sets for various sql statements. But the problem is when there is a DB error I cannot identify where the error is coming from as all the error statement says is the error is in GetRecordSet. I use Dreamweaver as I had the iniial design configured on DW.
I am trying to execute a ping command from ASP, and I am really not getting anywhere. I wrote the following code based on what I found on the subject on the Internet:
Dim sh, result Set sh = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") cmd = "ping 192.168.1.5 -n 1 -w 200" result = sh.Run(cmd, 1, true) Set sh = Nothing Set result = Nothing
When I try loading the page containin this code, however, I get no response from the web-server. And occasionally I get an error message saying that the server could not handle the request due to too many users. Subsequent requests to the server, also on other files, seems to end up in the HTTP equivalent of a black hole, that is there is no response.
I am running WinXP (which is incidentally up-to-date with regard to Windows Update) and IIS 5.1.
I just installed a trial version of SQL server 2000 in my machine. I would to test some ASP programs I have written in my machine. How should I finf the local path (e.g., http://local)? and can I use my ASP programs on SQL server? how.
Does anyone know of any decent ASP code generators.I would like a program that automatically builds all the code for searches, reports, etc, giving just the path to a Microsoft Access MDB file. I have tried and used aspmaker, and it works pretty good. I was just wondering if there are any other programs out there that anyone recommends. Also does anyone know of any other "GOOD" asp forums besides this one
I am starting to write a web application that will be viewed in both IE and Netscape. Does anyone know of any issues I should be aware of from the start before I start coding?
While forcing the download from the server, when the download prompt box shows up for location selection and file name, asp is added as extention to the original file name. e.g., sample.csv.asp
i am doing following here before downloading Code:
When I use Microsoft Internet Explorer I dont get any error messages, but when I use Netscape 7.2 or Firefox 1.0 I get the following error message error '80020009'
Delete_Auto.asp, line 24
This is line 24:
IF Lcase(rs2("EmailAddress")) <> Lcase(Session("Email")) then%>
All of my other code still seems to execute, but cant get rid of the error message? Any help would be appreciated.
I have been asked to produce a web form that can be completed with various customer and product details, populated where necessary/possible from a database. This form then needs to be printed as an A4 document.
I have never dealt with printing from ASP before, but I know that simply trying to print a page to an A4 document causes you to end up with numerous bits of paper, most with almost nothing on.
I also need to ensure that the URL and other details that are apparent if you directly print from a browser are not there.
How do I save cookies onto a computer propperly? I know how to save them, but whenever I try and do it, the browser just blocks them. So how can I save cookies onto a PC without getting them blocked?
Have a school project in which I have to use an ASP page to process data from a form submitted by a user. Have to do this 3 ways - Using a Function, a Sub Procedure, and a Class. Simple enough.
I decided to see if I could get them all to work from 1 submittal page using an option group of radio buttons, and JavaScripting to send me to the correct page (just as a personal learning experience). Got this working also - but only in IE. Code:
this is driving me crazy and this forum is my usual last resort when i cant get something working! im trying to add some data to a table (access db). but first i need to find the primary key id of the fields im about to enter. im dealing with dates here, hence the bits of code concerning dates. so far i have: Code:
I have a new computer that I have iis 5 installed on win xp. I am trying to run a simple one line asp test file in my wwwroot directory.
In IE 6 it says: HTTP 500 - Internal server error Internet Explorer
In Netscape 6 it says "Class does not exist."
In my application event viewer, there are no entries from "Active Server Pages", like I"m used to seeing in my other computers. Usually this entry says "Service Started" or "Service Stopped". So apparently the asp service is not running. I thought that uninstalling and reinstalling IIS would fix it, but not luck.
How can I make sure that it adds all of the records to the table before I make Added = "True" It is strange, but sometimes, it won't add a record at all and then proceed to Added="True" How can I make sure that rs.Update was successful? Code:
I cannot get the date format correctly in dynamic sql statement, after trying various ways of handling it. I need some help with the date format in the following dynamic sql statement. Any help is appreciated in advance. While running the asp page, I still get an error as Error Type:
Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A000D) Type mismatch: 'Format'
I am currently working on a small website which gives an up to date current count on how many people are available are certain time slots for different areas, this is run of a Microsoft Access Database Backend.
My index script will display all areas and times and then display a link to a form which deducts 1 from the current count. Code:
I have web forms that frequently expire because users have them up for more than the default 20-minutes without interacting with them. So, I changed the timeout in IIS to 7200 seconds (2 hours, of course) and added a Session.Timeout = 120 to the pages in question. (Am I right that Session.Timeout is in minutes?)
Still, however, the pages seem to be timing-out well in advance of the 2-hour threshold. Have I left something out?
I've skirted around the issue by putting the forms into a framepage and setting a blank frame to refresh every 10 minutes, but I'm not fond of that solution. Plus, I'm just curious why the Session.Timeout setting or IIS timeout setting does not seem to work as advertising (allowing for the fact that I may just be a moron and missed a step).
I have some code that checks security permissions in a DB, and before my conditional statement that checks these permissions, I am writing out both values to see what the statement looks likebefore it is evaluated.
The problem is, it seems to disregard the condition and always returns True, even if the condition should be false...any ideas? I also did some testing to assure that the length of the two values I am comparing is 1, just in case they were possibly holding spaces, and I verified they are numeric as well. I am just stumped here...
Let me also preface this code snippet by saying, I am using this asp script to generate javascript menu choices...and I did include some commented debug statements so I can see what the javascript rendered.. Code:
I have a form that is being sent using CDONTS. The problem is the form I'm sending has a lot of special characters (it's in Spanish) and while I know how to get the chars to display correctly on the page, they're not showing up correctly in the email.
They either show up like this: Country : Canad;
or if I encode them, like this: Country : Canadá
How can I get the email to display the correct character Country : Canadá
I'm fairly new to ASP (I'm a PHP programmer) and have no clue how to do it.
I've noticed that the email is not set to encode in any special way like the equivalent for PHP......
I have an asp.net page that I would like to open up another asp.net page within the first one. Like a parent - child relationship. I need to display a graph in the child on the parent.
I'm still new to server side languages, and have been going though asp 3.0 for beginners by wrox for about two weeks. Is it a waste of time to learn asp now since .net is supposed to be the future? Am I better off just learning php since it's so popular, and open source? I'm really lost, and kinda pissed off about the lack of backward ocmpatability for asp. I read .net is so completely different in all aspect, and it uses ado.net.
At the moment I know the following:
html/xhtml css tiny bit of vbscript/asp 3.0 adobe photoshop/image ready
What should I be focusing on learning. I'm scared i'll choose the wrong thing, and waste time on it.
I have been using ASP for a few years now. For the most part I have been able to make it do what I need for it to do. Is there a reason I might want to be learning ASPX? Can someone point out some of the general differences between ASP and ASPX?
I got some code in ASPX format but I have no idea about how to make it work.. like, I did this . I created a virtual directory in IIS . Gave default.aspx as the default document . When i enter the URL in Internet Explorer, it displays only the code rahter than displaying the output
