what is the best way to highlight menus...as in like being in a particular section? like this:
my menu is database driven and in order for me to show it selected, i have to put something like menuid=12 a querystring.
case.asp?caseid=1323&menuid=12
this is what i'm doing so far but it seems terribly inefficient. does anyone have any suggestions?
I am creating a form with checkboxes that contains in the value property, the ID of the image. The filename of the image displayed above the checkbox along with the image.
On that page, I am storing the "checked" information in a cookie. When the user clicks submit, I need to retrieve the actual image that they selected on the previous page and display it along with the image name which I get from the value property.
Right now the only data being passed is the value in the checkbox input tage which is a text string and not the actual image. How do I retrieve the images my users checks off. I hope this make sense. Sort of like a shopping cart, but I only want to be able to select images and post back the ones selected.
The code that I have has 2 drop down boxes dd1 (visible) and dd2 (hidden). Based on the option selected in dd1, dd2 should be visible and populate options. I think I can have OnChange script but how could I return the value and put it in the SQL query (see variable in red in thecode)? Code:
View Replies View RelatedIm putting my website together, and I have made some simple text buttons that are aligned across the top of my page from left to right.Anyway, I have with this navigation a need to have more navigation options, which I hope to gain by having sub-menus appear when you roll over the button.
What I mean is how do I or can someone point me to a tutorial that will allow me to have a dynamic drop down menu generated via asp with data from a access databse that will allow the user to navigate to that sub menu content.
Hope you can help with a small problem I am having. I have a very simple table displayed on a page -

and what I am trying to do is this - Roll over the ID number and display a pop up menu (which has more links to run other ASP scripts) and pass the ID number from the original page, though the pop-up menu and into the final ASP script (as selected on the popup menu) as a parameter for an SQL query.
I want to have a drop down menu, that when you select an option, loads data from the database into another drop down menu. So that's one part I don't know how to do. There will be a total of three options from the first dropdown, which represent different tables in the same database. So that's the other problem, how to load, depending on the table selected, into the drop down menu.

I know how to pass information from one text field to another using Request.form or a Session, but I am not certain how this works with select menus. I have seen other examples that require you to open a new window, but again I would prefer not to do this.
I have two different select menus. This appears on the first asp page.

I'm assuming the answer to my query will consist of utilizing ASP and JavaScript, however if not, I'm still game.
Does anyone know where I can find any resources for dynamically creating pop out menus using a database backend for the links?
View Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a function on a navigation page so I can just include the nav page on my other asp pages this way I only need to edit one file when I need to update the navigation system.
The problem I have is that if I try and do this with the response write statement how I can't use " inside the strings i.e

How do I store " inside a variable called say SP so I can do this?

The reason I have to have it the ASP code is simply I want to call the function that outputs the drop down menu in other pages, if I did not do a function it would not work as it would output the drop down menu at the top of the or whereever the include statement is.

View Replies View RelatedI have a simple data entry form that has text boxes and some drop-down menus per row. My problem is the performance of the page.
I give the user the option of displaying 25, 50 or 100 rows at a time. Each row has 12 text boxes and 4 drop-down menus. The OPTIONS for the drop-down menus are being populated with data from our MS SQL database.
I'm using VIEWS to get the data and place them in recordsets, but how can I increase performance. It's taking way too long for the page to load and if the user clicks submits.. that takes a long time too.
I have an asp form that submits information to a database. On this form, I have a drop down box with about 15 options, each with thier own value. The selection is down a bit in the form, after user fills out certain information.
On the same form, I have a hidden value stated for "assigned_to" field. Most of the options in my drop down menu need an "assigned_to" value=35 and one option needs an "assigned_to" value=40 . How can I do this?

View Replies View RelatedI currently have a page with car manufacturers in a dynamic form menu. Users can select one and click submit to find available cars by that manufacturer. What i now need is a second menu on the page where when a manufacturer is selected, the models associated with that manufacturer display for a user to choose. For example if Ford is selected:

Can i do this with ASP to say "if menu one is ford, menu two contains...."? Or is there a much easier way which i am somehow missing?
i'm trying to create a dependent dropdown menu based on two objects, packages and steps (the steps dropdown will be dynamically updated/populated when a package is selected). the site uses ASP and since ASP is server-side, i am using JavaScript to handle the client-side "dynamic" change.
i've found several snippets of code that create the dependent dropdown; however, the two examples i have use arrays which are statically defined. the data that will populate the dropdowns is coming from a SQL database, and that data will be updated/changed fairly often. my question is this: is there any way to generate the arrays using ASP (outside javascript tags) and use them in the javascript?
or is there a way to use javascript to generate the correct arrays and fill them with data from my SQL tables? can i use a recordset ojbect in javascript? i have heard that you may use PHP inside javascript tags, but i'm unsure if that is what i want to do.. especially since i am using ASP as the main language for this site. I have two menu form elements that need to refelect a parent child relationship. There are 85 zones and 2200 zone-network combinations.
I want to bind the networkid element to an xml datasource that contains only the networks related to that zone. I have read about something like this before but have never implemented it.

I have four pull-down menus and a GO button. Each menu contribute a parameter to an URL query string (like asp?a=1&b=2&c=3&d=4) where variable a is return from menu1, b returns from menu2 etc.

Drop down value is selected and a query is performed on that value - I want the selected value to stay in the drop down field. Right now it goes back to the first value in the list once the submit button is clicked (it queries correctly).
When I come into the page there should be no value in the drop down list and when a value is selected it should stay in the field.

View Replies View RelatedI have an aspx file where i've put a placeholder element. On load i create
dynamically a table which contains a checkbox and a radiobuttonlist in each
tablerow . The radiobuttonlist contains two items (yes,no). Both the
checkboxes and the radiobuttonlist are NOT autopostbacked ( .autopostback =
false).
When i press the submit button a sub is run. My problem is that i can
not get the selected items in the radiobuttonlists.This is caused cos in the
page_load i call the sub that dinamically recreates the table described above
and so all values are reset (there is a rdb.item(0).selected=true line in my
code.
If i try to remove it, the radiobuttons keep their values or not,after
each submit, without a pattern!). I've also tried to keep the values in a
collection, instasiated in the page_load but i couldn't do so cos the table
(that contains the checkboxes and radiobuttonlists) is not recognized at the
beggining of the page_load (i guess it's not an object yet cos the sub that
creates all that is at the end of page_load)....

Also the default selected value should be the second value that is stored in array. For ex I have array of Countries names as America, Indonesia,china, Canada. My array gives me the value Myarray(intcount,0)(intcount,1) as America and so on (two dimensional array).
I want Indonesia as the default selected value when the page loads. Also I need to hardcode All at the end. Upn submitting the form the selected value fromthe drop down should get selected.

I have an asp-page where I want the user to make a selection with a listbox. When the user changes to another listboxelement the page gets reloaded and depending on the selection a different content is shown.
I got this working so far but when the page has been reloaded the listbox always displayes the first selection in the list and not the one which the user selected. Code:
I have different templates for different companies to be sent to the customer. first i get all the templates from the DB by giving: Select templates from tempates;
Now i want the user to select one..may be we can have a radio button displayed near the textarea in which i will be displaying the templates from DB. Once the agent selects one of the templates to be sent,that template should be sent as an email to the customer.
How do i go on achieving this ,with good formatted template in the DB?
I have a requirement where I need to have windows authentication
enabled for only few ASP pages of my Site (Virtual Directory), rest of the
pages should be enabled for anonymous access (No Authentication Dialog).
Could some body guide in achieving solution for this.
Flow Steps
1. User visits the home page (One.asp page) No NT authentication dialog
should appear.
2. The home page will have some Hyper links to other pages, on clicking on
the Hyperlink it should prompt for NT Authentication Dialog (asking windows
UserID and Password)
3. Once the UserID is validated by authentication process it should show the
Target ASP (Two.asp) Page. The Target Page will have a link Named 'Back'
which will redirect the User to 'One.asp'
4.Once user is redirected from Two.asp, if user clicks the Hyper Link it
should prompt again for the authentication (Previous login information should
be discarded, it should prompt again)
The Challenge i face is
1. Finding a solution to implement authentication for selected pages.
2. Logging off the User so that to Prompt the NT authentication dialog again.
