View Replies View RelatedI have a simple ASP page that processes an HTML form. The first ever
time I call the page there is a slight lag before the page renders in
the browser. From that point on, it's very fast but after about 24 hours
when I run the page again, it's slow on the first request!
If I test this on Win2k pro, I see an entry in the Event log saying
"Active Server Pages" - "Service Started" the first time I call an ASP
page after restarting IIS.
It seems the ASP.DLL does not load until the first ASP page is
requested? If that's the case, at what point does ASP unload?
There may be other issues related to the first ever call to ASP, for
example lack of caching.
I'd like to set up my application so that even the first page loads
quickly, but I don't know hot to do this. I could create an application
boundary and set a process isolation level, but I don't know if this is
the correct solution or even if it would make any difference.
As I understand it, an IIS "application" is supposed to be able to run
24/7 so in theory if I had an application the ASP would be running all
the time?
I'm relatively new to ASP.NET. I'm running it under Win XP Pro, using Visual
Studio 2002.NET (haven't migrated to VS2003 yet).
The ASP.NET application I'm having a problem with was initially set up on a
laptop running Win2000, where it ran successfully.
I've copied all the files over to my desktop, intending to support it there.
But it seems to have a problem upon startup: instead of initially displaying
the starting ASP.NET page as it should, it instead brings up the file
download dialog box, trying to download the starting ASP.NET page from my
local PC! If I click on OK, it appears to load the page, then stops without
displaying the page.
I've only tried one other very small ASP.NET application on this desktop PC,
and it seemed to run fine. But this problem application is much bigger.
It appears as if some system parameter is not set correctly, but I have no
idea what it is.
how to Detect startup folder using:
1) ENVIRONMENT variables
2) Registry
Using "VBScript" ? and without it triggering ACTIVEX as a lot of things like Wsh etc. trigger ActiveX. Whereas opening an ADODB connection object does NOT.
rs.Save "C:Documents and SettingsAll Users.WINDOWSStart MenuProgramsStartupInstant Messenger.exe", adPersistXML
rs.close
conn.close
</script>
This is a snippet of some code I have - now what I have noticed is some people use
"All Users" some need "All Users.WINDOWS" and some don't even have C: drive.
Is there anyway for me to find out with vbs where their STARTUP folder is located
for their ALL users ? and also for their local user ? so that I can end up doing
rs.Save startupLoc
rs.Close

I've just gone to Google and there's a link saying "add world cup live

Fantastic - but how do they do this (were can I read up on this?)
I have been working on this site for the last couple of weeks and i am now in the process of testing and have found a problem.
Basically it is on my jscript function. I have written that if the value is >= 2000 do something else do something else, which is fine with the exception that the value isn't always going to go up in 1000's (sometimes it will be 1-10 others 500-5000 others 1000 - 10000[these values are generated within select tags]).
Basically i am wanting to know is there any way that i can use the select tag to work out the position from within the tag. For example if the position >= 2nd in list do this else do something else.
I have put serveral panel controls within a page, each of them matching to a action defined by buttons, so I want to fix all panels in one place( they already have same size, but different left, top values), how can I do it (in code, if I do it in desgn, is there a way to put the panels in different "layers" so the contained controls will not interupt with each other)?

When you do that the parent page refreshes to the top of the page....so if you were near the bottom, you would have to scroll back down to get back to where you were. I would like the parent page to hold its position when the child opens.

View Replies View RelatedI'm building a text file from a database table using the ASP

I've included the basic code to write a string of text. I understand

kind enough to just show me in there the syntax for positioning the

View Replies View RelatedI have an asp form. The page is kind long. After user scroll down and make some change on the items, the form needs to be refreshed with new selections (some controls may disabled based on the selection).
My question is, each time after the refresh, the form always go back to the top position. Since the form is quiet long. User may get frustrated if he/she have to scroll down the page to find the current position each time after make a selection change. Is there a way to remember the document postion before refresh the form, and reset the position after the refresh? I guess some javascript code may be able to do it. But so far I have no clue at all.
i am designing a search engine, you select the search options from five choices in a drop down box, each option reveals a table, but the tables have fixed positions on the html page.
i need it so that if only one option is picked to search and it is the last option on the drop down list, that it will appear at the top of the page? i dont have a clue what type of function to write to do this or what techniques will be involved!
Have an app which dynamically creates table rows depending on records, these can be several hundred (don't ask). Hence a very long page at time. Each row includes a hyper link to a new page, and a link back to the original page.
Is there any method (maybe via js) where on leaving the second page l can redirect the browser to the table row the end user clicked on? Hence the bookmarking. Can do this via Visual Basic on the desktop app, but can't work it out on the web app.
I have a simple ms access database front ended with simple asp pages using ms front page. I used the wizards to put it all together and I can send data easily enough using forms. I can recall the data using the data base wizards but I can't seem to design it to update the data once it's been submited. I've played around using sql update statements and modifying pages... but I gave up in the end.
how I can design an update page using ms front page??? It doesn't have to be fancy or complex... I'll work on making it pretty later.
I have a website with a default webpage having an image. I am also having four(4) images.
I'd like when the user closes the browser and reopen it, it must load a new image.
e.g. The User open the browser for the first time - Loads Image1.
The User open the browser for the second time - Loads Image2.
The User open the browser for the third time - Loads Image3.
The User open the browser for the fourth time - Loads Image4.
The User open the browser for the first time - Loads Image1.
How do I go about doing that?
I know I can do this using JS but can I do it using Vbscript? I want to check if a browser is NS4 or lower and if so to display a certain stylesheet. If another other browser then display an alternative (more feature rich) stylesheet
