CDONTS Object Doesnt Recognize Simplified Chinese Characters
When we send a mail using the code below,we do not get simplified chinese characters if they are present in the body but we get junk in the mail and we need to change the mails encoding to simplified chinese to see the Chinese characters.
I have a 3 layer system, SQL Server 2000 database, COM+ dll's (VC++ 6) and ASP frontend, this system has been in production for quite some time using english, spanish and portuguese versions. Now I've been asked to test the system to function with Simplified chinese. The development of the system was outsourced and we don't have communication with the company (some sort of legal problems i think). Now, I've been reviewing the code and recompiled one of the core DLL's for unicode support with no problems, I've tested the database (SQL Server 2000) inserting Simplified Chinese characters and the DB supports it fine (the DB fields are NVARCHAR), in the ASP frontend, the retrievel process (calling the COM+ DLL functions) works fine displaying this data I inserted directly in the DB.
I am using CDONTS to send mail to the user from my ASP application. However, the code doenst works all the time. I am able to get mails but nothing happnes most of the time. The code works maybe once in 20 tries. What could be the reason?
i posted earlier, and the response seemed to be there is another dll i need to use the cdonts object, i used it fine for awhile on my old setup, i upgraded to 2k3 and it errors up as if cdonts isnt an object. So is there a dll i need to have to use the cdonts object in iis 6 or do i need to rewrite my code to use cdo? (if so, please provide asp 3 example on how to send an email with recepient, sender, body and subject)

I've built a simple asp website with sql 7.0 backend. There's a form based screens to save info to the database. I'm having problems for some of our Chinese customers - they are saving information in Chinese characters and they are being translated into weird characters. For example: Code:
I am attempting to download this file which is simply one chinese character followed by .jpg. For IE, Netscape, Safari I right click on this URL and attempt to download the file. If the name contains only ASCII characters it works. I also cannot cut and paste this URL directly into IE and retrieve my image either. What do I need to do to be able to use Chinese (unicode) characters in URL's?
which is used to send mails.while we put some chinese characters inside the text box and then click on submit button in the mail,chinese characters are appearing as garbage.
could anyone please help to resolve this issue so that it doesnt come as garbage?
I had came across an error known as "Bad Request (Invalid URL)" when i was trying to input chinese characters into MS SQL database using my asp written page. For your info, I'm currently working on Windows Server 2003 and running IIS 6 on this server.
Hereby i enclosed my asp request method tat i'm using <% sCategory = request.querystring("txtCategory") .... %>
the txtCategory textbox contains chinese characters, and after that I'll insert the sCategory string value into MS SQL database.
I have a script that send emails using CDONTS. There are users that have keyboards that support Spanish characters. I am able to render the chars correctly in the body using HTML substitutions, however, the subject line comes out bad. Is there a good way to handle this situation?
sTmp = " WHERE Sites.[Site Address] Like '" & Request("txtSiteAddress") & "'"
I’m constructing a SQL string getting the parameters from the URL that I built through a form.It works fine if it wasn’t for the jolly characters. If, for example, in my form I type %A% I can see it in the URL (I can see the % characters as well) but the ‘%’ character doesn’t get returned by the Request("txtSiteAddress").Does anybody know if there is a reason for this and a workaround?
The following is the code to send the email. It sent successfully. but I got the wrong result. I got this in my email:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ vi assign =xxxxxxxxxx-com-john.mathews:email:11:11:/mailboxes/xxxxxxxxxx.com/johnmathews::: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** Why the dot "." is disappeared after john ? It should be "...../john.mathews"
When I sent the below statement in body of the CDONTs mail object it replaced the hyphens with question marks.Actual sent message: "Thursday, June 10, 1 - 3 pm" Actual recieved message: "Thursday, June 10, 1 ? 3 pm"
I am working with CDONTS mail object. The code doesn't give any syntax error; but, actually it doesn't work because I don't know how to give my local sever's machine name in the Mail Object's .From property. :P What is the machine name? Could any one give me the right format? Where do I know the machine name from? I tired by right clicking "My Computer" and seeing it's properties. But, I think that's not the machine name.
I am using the CDONTS.NewMail object to send e-mail programmatically. We upgraded our IIS server from NT to Windows 2003 Server. Now it does not appear that the CDONTS object is available on the 2003 Server? Is this correct? If so, how does one send e-mail programmatically on 2003 Server using "Classic ASP" (not .NET). Which object do I use?
Is there a way to determin if the email message was sent? I have a numnber of applications that use CDONTS to send mail from both ASP and ASPX pages. If the server is down mail does not get sent. I do not see a way to determine this by code. Does anyone know of a way?
I'm having a problem with cdonts.newmail. quite simply when i try to use the server.createobject method to create it it gives me an invalid progid error. it works fine on the test server so the problem is somewhere in the server settings and not with the code. both servers use win2k advanced server.
I'm not sure what information is relevent to this problem so if you need more information please just ask.
specifically I'm wondering if it's possible to dissable the object, preventing it to be created. if this can be done where would you do it?
I use the following code to send email from an ASP page:
<% Dim objSendMail Set objSendMail = Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail")
objSendMail.From = "abc@abc.com" objSendMail.To = "abc@abc.com" objSendMail.Subject = "Form Results - Get a Quote" objSendMail.Body = "This is the Body text of this test mail." objSendMail.Send Set objSendMail = Nothing %>
Of course, the the email addresses above are real on my ASP page.
After the above code is executed, I don't receive any email.
Does someone know the cause of this error? I'm developing a simple christian site for our church and it needs to have an email functionality. When I submit the form I receive this error. Can anyone give me some tips?
I am writing an asp file to edit records in an access2000 db. I do a query on the primary key, then if EOF and BOF (nothing found), it writes to the db. If not, it does a second test to see if any info has changed. Here's the relevant code:
I am looking for some help creating a login page. I want to have a Access DB with the username/password/forward address. I want it to forward the user to there page depending on the username. I have seen many login pages but none that will forward to a web page depending on the username.
I do contract work for an organization that has some of the word code I have ever seen. I think they are using some sort of screwy CMS or something.
The code on their pages are pages stacked on pages, in other word one page loaded into a browser might have 3 <html><body></body></html> sets. Its really bad. So I started working on a page that has a form. It is included in the main page with this line of code:
I have just tested code I pulled from the chilli!Mail tutorial to email data via an ASP page.
It worked perfectly the first time the page was loaded, however now I am getting the following error:
Error Type: CDONTS.NewMail.1, ASP 0220 (0x80020009) This ASP file must be transacted in order to use the ObjectContext object. /ContinuousImprovements/test.asp, line 29
I haven't seen this error before and am not too sure what it means, any help would be appreciated.
Will IIS6.0 recognize a global.asa file located in a subdirectory on the webserver?
I'd like a file that will execute whenever a file in the subdirectory is browsed - or, at least it is executed the first time a file in the subdirectory is browsed.
I'm trying to get a .txt file from another domain using xml object; this file includes special characters like ñ, á, é, í, ó, ú and so on. The code I'm using is:
Set xml = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") xml.Open "GET", "http://domain/file.txt", False xml.Send If err.number = 0 then filebody = xml.responseText set xml = nothing
The problem is that all those chars are converted to "?" symbols. How can I get rid of this thing and get the original characters back?
