I'm developing a newsletter module in ASP... I've worked with two mailing objects
1- SMTPsvg.Mailer
2- CDONTS
Please share your experience and suggest me one of them which one is more efficient. keep in mind that it will be a loop to send mail to two thousand members.
I know that the SMTPsvg.Mailer component is used to send mails from ASP Page. Can any body tell me where can I get the Component for download or Do I need to purchase the component? Is this Component is better than CDO ?
I'm using a block of ASP to allow a user to send a form via e-mail. However, someone keeps sending me spam through this form and they're using a bogus return address. I'm testing for a successful send, which should fail if the return address is not valid, but I'm still getting the junk.
The block looks like this:
Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer") Mailer.RemoteHost = "smtp.xxx.com" Mailer.FromName = Request.QueryString ("Name") Mailer.FromAddress = Request.QueryString ("Email") Mailer.AddRecipient "Web Mail", "PCT2@xxx.com" Mailer.Subject = "P.C.T. E-mail" Mailer.BodyText = UserString if Mailer.SendMail then Response.Write " - Sucessful - " else Response.Write " - Failed - " Response.Write Mailer.Response end if
Should this block be stopping bogus From addresses? Or do I need to be doing something different?
I'm looking to manage an email list with SQL server and send out newsletters. Does anyone have an idea of the limitations of sending emails with CDONTS.MAIL object? How long would it take to send out 1000 emails via asp. I guess there are many variables with that, but that's say there were no attachments and we have 15k emails. These news letters really will only be sent once a month or so. But lets say our list grows to 10000 users or even 100,000. Is that a good idea to send 100,000 thousand emails through an asp page? I wouldn't think so .
I'm trying out a simple CDONTS mailer and I'd like to see an actual from-name in the received e-mail (rather than the e-mail address). How would this be done??
I currently have a CGI mailer that is running but not executing mail because there isn't an open relay between the mail and web servers, if I was on unix and had sendmail I would be right I think. Now Im looking at going down the ASP route, would I need to open up a mail relay to get an ASP mail script to send mail? In this configuration? I am running this on a Windows 2003 machine and looking at CDONTS.
I am having a heck of a problem getting this script to email correctly. A form generates all the values, and the script sends off confirmation email- except I don't get any of the confirmation emails I don't get any errors either. I've tried multiple email addresse (in network, out of network, etc.)
I tried sending a mail with an attachment . I am able to attach a .jpeg as well as .pdf file to the mail but the prob is when i try to attach and send a .doc file . i am storing the path of the file selected thru a browse option and then attaching that file to the mail with mailer.addattachment. It gives the correct path but does not attach the .doc file.
I have attempted to write an .asp script to post form data to my e-mail, however when I tried to move it into a separate file, I no longer receive it... or it might be the for..next loop I tried to use. Code:
I have only dundas and the free softartisans.com mail installed on my server. Am wondering, who i could run mailer script that supports both html and graphics ?
I tried using the one listed here http://www.aspfree.com/c/a/ASPCode/...rom-a-database/ but I keep getting an error which I've posted but haven't found an answer for yet. Does anyone know of any other one that I can use. I basically want to be able to pull a list of the emails out of my db and send an email to those addresses.
I have used Mailer successfully on websites before. This time, I am trying to run my Mailer code on localhost, with IIS. This line, which in general works, is now generating an error message:
set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
What I've tried so far:
set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer") set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail") set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("localhost")
I don't know if I should be trying something else, if I have to do something beyond the actual code, or if it is simply not possible to have mailer working on iis/localhost.
I am still finding my feet creating a website in ASP, and i'm trying to get to grips with users providing feeback to my site. my webhosts have the dundas mailer installed, and i am trying to get it to work for me.
does it work in conjuction with regular html? can i add a <form> and text fields? and then will all that get sent with the page? .....
Basically the way it SHOULD work is a fixed sized window opens and displays two tables. The top table (id=fgWindow) displays the graphics; the bottom table has dropdown menus and text boxes.
I can make every item in the bottom window show up in an email (the Sub Button_Click), however I remain unable to get it to put the contents of the fgWindow table into the body of the email.
My only BIG question is, why won't it put the table that I have ID'd as "fgWindow" in the body of the email when I send it? Code:
I have an asp form mailer. when the form is submitted, it goes to a review page where the user can submit the mailer or print it out. the review page pulls the cookie information in fine. after its submitted, i get an email that just says:
Submit: Submit Form
here is the code on the review.asp page that brings in the code.
How do I convert this ASP mailer script to accept and mail multiple fields of a form. This will do one field only )iMesg.TextBody = Request.Form("body") and it works great. Code:
I am not having any trouble getting cdonts to work, but damn is it slow. I have the importance set to 2, but sometimes it can take a whole day or more to get the email. Anyone, know how I can make this faster, or another freeware program to send mail faster.
I am trying to use CDONTS to send an email and have the code below.
Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail") Mailer.From = "scottfrancisfrancis@hotmail.com" Mailer.To = "scott.francis@eleco.com" Mailer.Subject = "Segment Order Confirmation" Mailer.BodyFormat = 2 BT = "Add order details here" Mailer.Body = BT Mailer.Send set Mailer=nothing
I have declared the Mailer variable earlier in the code, the page runs through without any problems and redirects as it should but no mail gets sent. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?
We jsut transfured our webhosts to another company, and the new servers are Win 2k3, well our others were Win 2k. I did not know that 2k3 did not support CDONTs. I use the CDONTs for all the mail forms on our site. Is there any good turorial that have that are about CDOs? ALl i can find are CDONTs and CDOs with CDONT objects so that has been no help.
want to use CDONTS to sent my email. and i read this exellent thread: How to use CDONTS I have all kinds of forms with different names and values on different pages. How can i include all the fields of a submited form if they change name from form to form (or better yet, from page to page)? I think that i would have to count the items and then include them in the form. but i don't know if that would work and how to do it.
According to the ASP 3.0 Programmer's Reference published by Wrox Press (copyright 2000), CDONTs has several limitations. One is that it offers no built-in user authentication and security features. Is there any easy way to use CDONTS and have security at the same time? If you have an e-commerce web site and send an email to the vendor with a customer's credit card number and expiration date, could that information be intercepted? Is it possible to prevent that using whatever a web host has available
I have a script that I've used elsewhere and it always works fine. It uses CDO not CDONTS. IIS settings seem to be the same as on other servers that have websites running the same script. When the form is submitted it runs until it gets to the send line. Error says access denied. The script's access is set the same as the rest of the site. Getting very frustrating as I am out of my depth here. Where do I start to correct this?
I would like to know if any one here know any sample examples or scripts that I can modify to work with a group mailing program. I would like to implement a form that uses CDONTS to grab the input and automatically emails to the given email.
i'm unable to extract user's full name as the 'From' section needs to be in the following format - "full name <email@dot.com>"
i was gonna use string concatenation but it dont like the symbol "<" any help?
I have an urgent problem with ASP CDONTS right now.
This is my code:
Set Mail=Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail") Mail.To="someone@somewhere.com" Mail.Bcc="someoneelse@somewhere.com" Mail.From="abc@abc.com" Mail.Subject=Request.Form("subject") Mail.Body=Request.Form("body") Mail.Send Set Mail=nothing
The mail is sent to someone@somewhere.com, but not the bcc address which is someoneelse@somewhere.com. Is my code wrong?
