Can An ASP Page Read A Cookie Written By A PHP Page?
I am working with a developer, on two portions to a site, he is working in PHP and my work is done in ASP.
Is it possible for my pages to request data from a cookie that was written by his pages that are PHP but residing on the same server? Just want to make sure before I spend too much time planning out the development on my end.
I created a web page from Excel2000, using "Save as web page..."...Publish function. then, I moved htm file to my IIS web server. Then I added a form control, and submit button.
How can get the data on the excel file using ASP from server side? For example, the value of Cell(1,2), Cell(2,3)....
I am building a link exchange system - It works but I have to validate each recipricol link individually. I want to modify it so that it can read a web page and determine whether the website has added a recipricol link to my site before I add theirs.
I'm building a multi-langual site, and I want to store the language selected in a cookie. When the querystring contains a "lang" parameter, I'm changing the cookie's value. The valuese represent the language ID in my DB. When no var passed throgh the QueryString, and no cookie found, the system should put the value of the default language in the cookie.
The only problem is the cookie is being erased somehow after the only page I created so far is over. the page itself can access the cookie, but once it's processing is over, the cookie no more exists.
I have no idea why it happenes, nor how should I fix it. I've set the cookies("name").Expires = DateAdd("m", 1, Now()), and checked there is no other access to the cookie. But nada. the cookie still vanish every time.
I want to put the same JS tag on sites A and B that call an asp page on domain C.
The tag would look like this: <script language="JavaScript1.1" src="http://secure.C.com/Demo/Intercept.asp"></script>
The ASP page on domain C would write a cookie, in theory the cookie should have permissions for read and writing from site C. Something like this: Response.Cookies("Name").Expires = Date() + 365 Response.Cookies(SurveyName).Domain = ".C.com" Response.Cookies(SurveyName).Path = "/"
In firefox the result is exactly as planned, a cookie is set when a user goes to sites A or B via site C, and using this same approach, I can read the cookie from domains A and B via the JS tag calling the script on site C.
IE does not like this. Sometimes it doesn't even write the cookie, other times the cookie has to be there b/c of resulting actions taken, but when viewing the list of cookies, it's no where to be found. Additionally, I don't seem to be able to read the cookie the same way as firefox is letting me.
I know this can be done, I went to foodnetwork.com (yeah I love to cook), and saw that they were using a metric service that was calling a back end script from the vendors domain, and setting a cookie from that vendors domain, all without the user seeing anything or leaving the foodnetwork.com domain. I've looked at the resulting JS code that is returned from these vendor back end pages, and it has nothing to do with the cookie being set, it's definitely happening server side.
I have an ASP site where the majority of the site style is set in CSS but certain aspects such as font and background colors for sections is set by the user in a web page, with the data being pulled from an Access database.
It should be noted that the site is an open source forum and the user mentioned above is the admin for the site - so this only means limited access to this functionality but allows the admin to customise their forum for their users easily, whilst keeping them from the more crucial aspects of the CSS which afect table layouts etc.
The question has been asked - is it possible to not have to split the CSS like this (some in Db some in CSS sheet) and instead include it all in a style sheet?
I guess what I am asking is - is it possible to read and write to the style sheet from ASP, and if so how would you identify each CSS ID or Class?
let say the addres is not exist, but the web server will auto redirect the page to a user customize page, and the object track the page as 200. Is there any way to track the error even the page is redirect to a 404 page ?
What I need to do is use asp to read the contents of a web page (that is generated on another server), put the html in to a sting, and then take action based on the contents of the string. I can probably do all of the sring manipulation myself, but want to know if I can open the page and read the first 200 characters in to a variable that I can then manipulate.
I'm no ASP/VBScript guru, but I need to read a page from another domain, extract some information, and format it inside one of our own pages at the office.Just to make one thing clear: I'm not ripping off someone else's page. The external site handles employment ads, and we're supposed to include our own ads from there.
Frames or iframes are out of the question, since we use HTML 4.01 Strict. The markup on the external page is horrible (layout tables, presentational markup, etc.). I want to read the external page into a string, and then extract the actual ad information and format that on our page. This would be very easy in PHP, using fopen(), and I assume there is something similar for ASP/VBScript.
I have a csv file that has 2 columns - Name and Team. I want to display both of these on a page in seperate dropdown boxes..Ideally I would then like to have an option where the user of the page can click a button to change which team an employee is a part off, in effect overwriting that line of data but not deleting everything else in the file
The code below lets me see each column from the csv file on a page in a separate dropdown box but I don't think I have the logic right to do what I need..I've checked Google and w3schools but I must not be searching for the correct thing as I can't find a way to do this... Code:
i have a page that i need to load in an iframe that is on a diff domain (sub domain), i need to get the doc height of the page so that i can adjust the iframes height (so there will be no scroll bars).the problem with that is even though its on the same sever, because it is on a subdomain the browser sees it as different and restricts access to it (makes sense).
so, what we can do is have php read in the page with curl and parse it out in the iframe. that looks like <iframe src="reader.php?page=subdomain.pagename.html">but, we cannot use php on this server so i was wondering if there is an asp solution that can do the same thing (vb script). basically, i just need that asp page to grab the page on the sub domain, read it in and then output it.
I want to create a cookie that will expire in a few mintues after a user leaves my page so that they can return without having to login again if they were only gone for a few minutes. I tried putting this code in the Page_Unload event but got an error message that cookies not supported here. .... Sub Page_Unload 'this not working here Dim objCookie As HttpCookie objCookie = New HttpCookie("mycookie", "cookie1") objCookie.expires = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(2) Response.Cookies.Add( objCookie ) End Sub </script>
What is the best place to create a cookie that will only last for a few mintues after leaving a page.
Is it possible to do the following in asp: To read an html page from a server (not mine) every 5 minutes and copy it to my server. The html page just contains a list of numbers.
I have downloaded a nice upload script from the internet, it works great, but I would like to have it protected,so that only the admin user can use this upload page, I'm getting the following error:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01b6'
Object doesn't support this property or method: 'Request.Session'
If I change it in Request.Cookies, that won't work either.....
This may or may not be a simple question, but I have been able to find an answer to this issue in all my searches.
In an ASP application, I'm creating a cookie that stores a username from pageA.asp
I then try to read the cookie from pageB.asp, which is inside a frame of pageC.asp.
The problem is I can't read it from pageB.asp. Can anyone please help?
NOTE: If I make pageB.asp as a standalone page without being called from the frame in pageC.asp, THEN I can read the cookie. But this is not what I want.
I need to read a SQL Server table into a Web Page and within the Web Page to permit my users to make changes to the records, delete or add new records and then save the entire contents back to the SQL Server table back.
The functionality I am looking is almost the same as In the SQL Enterprise Manager whereby I can choose a table open the table and then return all rows and I can maintain the same and save it back to the SQL Server table. I want almost a similar web interface to such a functionality.
Even if not a generic functionality as the SQL Enterprise Manager table maintenance appreciate if somebody can share the code with a sample how I can do it in ASP pages + T-SQL if need be.
What I want to be able to do is create a user control that will display an entire page page within it. Does anyone know how to do this or better yet have any same code?
I like to know how to write this specifc function on ASP where the user eg: display a set of records on the webpage. Example the data are ID, Name and address.
Lets say i display the data on the webpage and i set the Name as the <a href>. So when i click on the name, it will move to another page with the id of the specific name. Code:
I have an ActiveX control in my ASP page that has not been signed yet, so currently just for testing I set the Security for Intranet to "Low". When I run the ASP page on my machine (the IIS is in my machine), I have no problem, except the page prompted me with "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?"
But, when I run the ASP page on another machine (even though the other machine is also a development machine that already has the ActiveX control and I set the Security for Intranet to "Low"), it did not prompt me the above message, and I got an error when accesing any method of the AX control (e.g Object doesn't support this property or method 'myAXControl.method').
Is this because I have to create a CAB file and mark the AX control as safe for scripting ?To create a CAB file for this AX control, do I need to create my own VB AX Control project that contains this control and then create a cab file for this VB project ?
This is a standard ASP application that has several pages at the root withthe global.asa. I set a session variable session("accountid") = "123456" within an asp page and then response.redirect to the next page and immediately response.write session("accountid") and I get back nothing.
But if I set a session variable session("accountid") = "123456" within an asp page and response.redirect to a page in a sub directory and immediately response.write session("accountid") I get back 123456 on the screen.
I am having a problem with a site that I am developing - my aim is for it to validate as XHTML Strict however, I am running into a couple of problems validating it; in my Response.Write ASP script, I am not including " 's to define page element tags as they keep throwing up errors in the page. Code:
I've a strange problem with Windows Vista, running an ASP page on local machine (http://localhost/test.asp), the page does not give me any error but the asp code is not executed (simple code : <% response.write("hello") %), it show me a blank page, I think I've put all the setttings correctly, but maybe I must do something obvious to fix that.
I encounter a page reload situation in ASP. It is I need a way to differentiate whether the current page - "Application_Result.asp" got reloaded itself when user click on the browserRefresh button or is requested by the previous page "Application_Form.asp".
I tried using <%if Request.ServerVariables("REQUEST_METHOD") = "POST" then%> <!--it is requested from "Application_Form.asp, do something--> <%else%> <!--Application_Result.asp refreshed itself(such as user clicks on the browser Refresh button, do something else--> <%end if%>
However, in both cases, the IF statement above all evaluated as true. how to differentiate this two different behavior (Page Refresh versus Page requested by another Page) ?
I have page for user to update his/her details. What i want is after idle for more than 20 mins, the page will redirect to login page automatically. So that the user knows that his/her session already expired and need to login again.
But it doesn't working. This is because if he/she update the details (after idle more than 20 mins), and click the Submit button, it will go to login page and all the data will be lost. Code:
I have an application which allow users to search our database. Quite a lot of search fields pull data from other tables. I don't want to populate the dropdowns (total 14 of them) from the database everytime as it slow the page load.
Instead I would like to have a link next to the text field which a user and click and the choices can be displayed and whatever the user click in the pop up I want to transfer it to the text box and close the popup.
For example there is a Textbox called country. The user can either type in the country name or click on the link which will pull all the countries from table in the database and which ever country user selects, the textbox is popluated with the country name and the pop up closes automatically. Code:
I'm trying to write an asp page line by line, as one would create a text file, only my file will end in .asp.
One line simply writes a close ASP code tag, or
FILECONTENTS=FILECONTENTS & "%>"
When this line processed, an error occurs saying that the string was never terminated because the asp page attempting to write this line of code to a NEW asp page reads that close ASP tag (%>), as an actual close asp tag for itself, instead of a STRING value.
How do I write this %> symbol to a new asp file, while still maintaining its purpose to close a group of asp code in the newly created page?
But as i carry some data from previous previous page, when i use (window.opener.location = window.opener.location), it can't capture my data as it just load the page. It will pop up error as no data captured :
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d' Type mismatch: '[string: ""]'
I am looking for a way to pass an ADO recordset that has been retrieved in an ASP page to another HTML-page. Is there someone who can provide me with a small sample or a link to see how this is done?
i am facing a problem with CrystalReports for visual basic.Net 2003. I have passed almost through all the problems but still i get a message when i view some reports "Page header or footer longer then a page".
