I wrote an ASP page to export data from the database to an excel spreadsheet file. The problem is, after the user saved the file to his/her hard drive, the export browser window still remains. How do I close the export window after users saved the file?
i have quotation_start.asp which was set to be a small window (height=250, width=500). there is a YES button and some data on this page. when user clicks YES, data will be saved into database, quotation_start.asp will be closed automatically and a new page, quotation_admin.asp will appear in the main window at rightFrame. everything is ok except the quotation_start.asp never close. it remains there. here is the code:
Host Environment: IIS in window 2003 server, three web servers, one load balance, ASP (not ASP.net) code set. There is part A codes in one asp page (page A) to open a new window (Window B). The new window like a clock non-stop running. There is part B codes in the page A need to close window B.
There is no problem if the there is only one web server. It works. When there is a load balance and more than one web server, then the window B can not be closed.
which event is fired when a browser is closed. i want to call asp page which deleet some files on the server. i tired using onunload event but it aslo get fired when a page is refreshed. the thing should work in netsacpe also.
I have a wierd question that may involve a little explaining. I have a web app that uses SOAP calls to manipulate the files in a source safe database, and i need to program for the possibility that someone will close the browser before they check a file back into the source safe.
i need to execute a "ReleaseFile" soap call so that the file will be not be checked out, to remove the ability for other users to edit the file So far i have tried putting my final soap call in my Global.asa and then set the timeout variable to 1, the global is executing, but the SOAP doesn't always execute, and the session is left hanging, or the file isn't checked.
I want to close the window without the warning "internet explorer is trying to close..." being displayed. I want to do this with vbscript. I found out that in javascript you can do it by including window.opener='x' followed by the window.close statement. My code is: Code:
Response.Write "<script type=""text/vbscript"">" Response.Write "MsgBox ""Hi. see you again""" Response.Write vbcrlf Response.Write "window.close" Response.Write "</script>"
In an asp page I have the following scenario happening (or would like to happen)
person picks a menu item in main page which opens a popup window that allows customization of that menu item. Upon submitting that page the results go to a second page in the popup window for collection into variables.
I was hoping to just close that second page, but everything I have tried results in a message window stating the program is trying to close the page (y or n). I was hoping to get rid of this, but can't seem to no matter how hard I try.
There are many examples on here that seem rather old and may have worked with former versions of IE without problem, but none have worked how I wanted.
Does anyone have suggestions on how I could get the above...or even modify things so that maybe the original popup window can be closed...I do wonder if its the fact that a second page has been opened in the popup window.
I wrote global.asa file but I couldn't get what I expect. After user logs on to the system,if he/she directly closes the explorer, the time he/she logs out must be written to the database.I have logout.asp file which do this when the user click on the LOGOUT button, but if the user doesn't click it just closes the explorer what handles it??The following global.asa tries to do that but I think there is something wrong. If you examine it I would be very happy thanks...
GLOBAL.ASA
<script language=vbscript runat=server> Sub Application_OnEnd() session.abandon() End Sub Session.Timeout=1 Sub Application_OnStart() Application("CurrentUser")=0 Application("TotalUser")=0 End Sub Sub Session_OnEnd() Application("CurrentUser")=Application("CurrentUser")-1 Application("TotalUser")=Application("TotalUser")-1 Set con = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") con.Open "DSN=Address" SQL="UPDATE tblLog SET fldTimeOut= "' & Time() & "' WHERE fldUserName= "' & Session("Admin") & "'" con.execute(SQL) session.abandon() con.close End Sub Sub Session_OnStart() Application("CurrentUser")=Application("CurrentUser")+1 Application("TotalUser")=Application("TotalUser")+1 End Sub </script>
I've been trying to save some user settings when the browser closes, but with little success. What I want to do is count a users' resource usage, and write it to a database when the user closes the browser. I tried to use the 'Session_End' event handler in global.asax, but that doesn't seem to work.
I use Request.ClientCertificate to read user cert from Estonian National ID Card for authenticating users. All works fine, i can read cert and personal id code, authent. user aso.
But problem is when user logs out and the browser info stays open, even when user removes id-card from reader and clicks on "Login" link, user will be authenticated because cert. is in cache? Code:
the code above - I want to send the email and then I want the window to close, however, everytime I do it, a messahe comes up saying: "Object Moved. This object may be found here." The email itself opens but the window doesn't close.
i have an Update button. according to flow operation, after customer clicks the button, the new data will be saved and i want to close the current window automatically. how to that?
I would like to capture window close event, i.e. when user clicks "X" button of the browser, I would like to close all open dataabse connections.
Also, I would like this to apply when a user tries to close browser using File > Exit or when the user tries to type another website URL in the browser.
I have a datagrid displaying data. There's an "edit" button, which I use Javascript to create a popup window where I can change the information. There's a "save" button on the pop up window.
Currently, I have to click the save button, and the the close button to close the pop-up window, go back to the calling page and refresh it before the information is updated in the calling page.
I would like to be able to use the "save" button on the pop-up window to close the pop-up AND reload the parent page. Is that possible?
Is there a command in ASP to get a browser window so you can select a file to add to a DB? For example: you press a button and you get a browser window?
When I hit an asp page the code for the page is displayed, not the actual page. I am running IIS locally for development. Any ideas of why this would be? If the pages are loaded on the server, they load properly.
I have a web page application written in VS2005 that's completely contained in a specifically sized panel control, and I'd like to prevent the IE browser window from being resized. I'd also love to hide the browser's toolbars if I can, but I guess that's another story.
since I'm on the subject, my wish list also includes the ability to:
(1) Run my app in an IE window of its own, and (2) Disable tabs in the instance of IE that my app is using
It's okay if my user has another instance of IE open with tabs and other web pages in it, but I'd klike to force this instance of IE to be exclusive to my web page. How can I achieve any/all of the above?
Is there a way to keep an other application from opening a link in a browser where I am running an ASP application?
For example, I have an ASP application open in a browser. If I click on a link in an email message, Outlook "hijacks" the open browser and opens opens the link in it. Is there a way to prevent this? To somehow identifiy that browser window as "off limits" to another app?
It looks like that when the window.open call is made, and a new window is created - my users lose all the information they entered - if they navigate backwards then forwards. If the second window was already created... navigating backwards and immediately forwards, seem to behave 'normally' (i.e. all their previous inputs are there on the screen.).
Is this normal? Is there some way to kick-off a new window without losing the inputs previously entered at an earlier screen? There was an earlier post about losing session info when opening a window - is this a similar situation?
I suppose I don't really have to have two windows opened at the same time - using a simple anchor link seems to work without the side-effect. It's just not as snazzy and the work-flow is slightly more stilted.
While I've been toying around with some other work-arounds - I was wondering if anyone else has ever run into this situation? Or am I missing some critical piece of info?
1. I have a form, with a textbox and a button. I have to enter a value in the text box and then i have to click the button, which opens a popup window. Here i want to pass the value of the text box which is entered in the parent window to popup window.
I have to use that value in the popup window's form_load event in the Code behind, and i have to take the values from the database using the value which i have entered in the parent window. Code:
I want to provide a lookup facility for users to select a code from a list. I want this to be done in a small popup window, which, when a code is selected, will close down and return the selected value to the main form. Can this be done ??
I'am not familiar wit ASP but I have to maintain an application. In a window there are some text selection fields and a search button. If you press on the search button record list is build according to what is filled in the selection fields. You can select a record and then a detailed window is shown or in another occasion a popup window is shown.
The request is now if the opened window or popup window is closed, then the opener window has to be opened with the same content (content selection fields + record list) as it was before the window or popup is opened.
Now I thought that I have read that every window which is opened gets an ID and that it is possible to call up that window by the ID from the cache again. Is that right? And if so? Or has somebody a better idea. Code:
