In my site i need to give the user an option to have a landing page to a site or not to.
If they choose no i need to create a page that has a basic response.redirect in the page
so the code that would be used to generate the link would look something like this :
<%response.redirect("/site/" &siteName & "/" & pageName & ".asp")%>
So how do i create a page with asp?
I just need to create 36 pages dynamically, each us a webpage for each
person. Its dynamic from the Db, and the no seems to be growing.
I am hoping to have short URLs like www.domainname.com/personname , Instead
of giving lengthy form Posts (www.domainname.com/pages.asp?id=32)
Also I hope there are ways to create webpages without creating folders to
each. (Is not possible to create folders to each person when they grow in
thousands...right?)
What I am trying to do would be useful to many sites that have product listings or archieved articles.
Instead of having server load and spider unfriendly dynamic asp pages, create semi-dynamic html pages by running an asp script which requests an asp page from a Local IIS server (or www server if need be) and writing the html text to a file and saving it as a filename.htm page. Code:
In my Session_OnStart in Global.asa, I am setting some cookies. One
of them, I set as follows:
dim UserID
UserID = Request.ServerVariables("LOGON_USER")
Response.Cookies("User")("ID") = UCASE(UserID)
When I immediately log the cookie value retrieved from
Request.Cookies("User")("ID") into the Windows Event Log, I get the
correct value. However, when I try to retrieve the cookie on the home
page of my application using the same code,
Request.Cookies("User")("ID"), it either cannot find the cookie or
cannot read the value. I am retrieving the cookie before all HTML
headers are written. It is my first statement on the page after
Option Explicit. I have even compared the session IDs. The SessionID
created in the Session_OnStart is the same value as the SessionID on
the home page.
I have read that the Session_OnStart only has access to the
Application, Session and Request objects. It does not explicitly say
that it does not have access to the Response object. Also, I was even
able to use Response.Write's in Global.asa to print out the values
although it looked like it had also stopped the session after I did
so. Cookies are definitely enabled on my machine. I have even tried
setting the session cookie's expiration to be persistent for a few
days to see if it was perhaps expiring before I was able to read it
but this did not work either.
Is there something preventing cookies to be created in Global.asa in
the Session_OnStart sub? Is the Response object not available???
Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem or solution.
i want to include an xml file as an asp include file - i'm transforming it using xslt, but it just appears as a blank.i take it i have to use xslt to transform the xml file to an asp page. can anyone point me to tutorials or tell me how ?

user can manually enter an order. Our users know our order# system and it's
much easier to manually enter items as opposed to using a shopping cart and
flipping through multiple pages.
On the page would be the following....
1) Billing address
2) shipping address
3) fields for order numbers
Billing and shipping seem pretty straight forward.
Because I have no idea of how many products a customer will order, I'm
picturing a new order# field being created when one is filled out. How do I
do this?Then, assuming I get all these dynamically generated fields, how do I get
them into an OrderDetails table?
if there is a method out there that allows me to create a web page util to see if URL links are still valid. In other words I've created a system whereby a user can add their own links/urls page, but they want to periodically check whether all of these links by executing a multi-check.
My theoretical thought on this would be that the script would check if it receives a 404 on each page request and mark a flag if and when it gets it, but as to how I would do this in ASP or JavaScript.
i have been trying to create a search and result page. - (The same page if possible) using both Dreamweaver and Frontpage. But keeps returning a provider failure code. i know want to just code it to see if that will work but am a newbie when it comes to coding. I wish to do a search on 1 field in a SQL database if at all possible using a trusted connection, but return more fields from various tables.

As soon as a record is added it is appended to the existing records. With
this design user can check for erors in existing records or the added record.
Initially, there was ino data validation rule.
Now, as soon as I am putting
data validation via script, I cannot update the exisiting data as the
validation looks for empty space in the text boxes meant for adding data. Is
there any way, I can avoid this situation and can update existing records. If
this is possible, how does one validate the existing records.
I’ve created an application with 3 pages[forms] that have information that must be entered. This application has a session variable that is passed from page to page to ensure that the information that is put in the tables in the Sql Server database is linked together. It also sends an email after the last page is submitted.
My problem is that I am trying to create a page that will show the user what they have entered and allow them to go back and make changes if necessary, before they go to the next page. [A verification page I guess you would say]
I have created the 1st verification page which shows the info [from the first form] the way I want it to and it allows them to go back and make changes, [while I’m testing locally, that is]. When I go live, it skips over the 1st verification page and goes straight to the next form page. It does process all the code that is in the verification page and adds the info to the database but it will not show the verification page! When I do get it to show the verification page, it does not process the code behind the page that adds to the database. Code:

I'm currently writing an asp page . There are many variables inside i want

View Replies View RelatedI have FrontPage 2003 on my XP laptop. I need to test some web pages with *.asp codes which worked perfectly well with my old Win95 computer in the past. Of course I had to install Personal Web Server to it in order to do the job.
The help files of FP, gives the clue that it has the facilities to behave like a server and test interactive web pages. But I haven't seen the use of ASP pages with it. I do not wish to install a server on my XP just to test ASP pages.
I'm using VBScript to display a list of the ten most recently updated
pages on my web site. Right now, the script lists the filenames and
the date modified in a given directory.
What I want to know is if there is any way to extract the page title
and display that instead of the file name? Can I use .asp and VBscript
to "delve" into the file and extract the title? Code:
Using IIS 5.0 and sometime some asp pages (absolutely
randomly) showing as blank white pages. So far only one
way of fixing it - restart whole server. Restarting IIS,
or specific web server not helping, only whole server.
I enable server side and client side debugging, but no
errors showing up...

Any idea why it can happened and how to fix?
We have two sites hosted on different servers and we have many pages on
domain A which has many links(asp programs) to domain B.
My question is if domain B server is in trouble, what is the best way to
have all domain pages redirect to domain A? Right now I just have redirect
code in each program on domain B to redirect to a maintenance page on domain
A.
Can I just write on program to solve this issue?
I am always getting cached pages even contents of the page changed on the server but I am getting old page (data).How to solve this.

I know how to use ASP to create and write into a .CSV file on the server, but I have a small problem. Every time I write to the file I am adding new lines each time. I don't know how to wipe the previous contents out, and I thought this is probably a no-brainer for you guys ...

Everything seems to work fine but now i have to create a new cookie if cookie has expired or if cookie is null. Also, i am having problems with the expire because if the username belongs to the admin for example and then i want to change
the username that belongs to a normal user the cookie recognises the first (admin) cookie. How do i solve this? .....
