An application runs on server, and is used for Hour-registration. Now I want to run the application local, I use SQL Server 2005, and managed to fix connection changes.
But now, I get this error everytime I run the application:

View Replies View RelatedI am using Windows XP Pro, and since I updated to Internet Explorer 7 I am having problems getting web sites to work on my PC in Internet Explorer using the local IIS web server. These web sites are using ASP and Access databases.
The two errors I get are:
Operation must use an updateable query or Cannot modify the design of table 'TABLE_NAME'. It is in a read-only database.
Does anyone know how I can get this working so I can test my web sites locally before uploading them to the live sites?
I have a SQL server db set up locally. I have a local DSN set up. I have DW connected to the SQL server db and can create Bindings and use Server Behaviors without any problem.
When I try to test the site locally in the browser, I get the following error:
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database
"xxxxxxx" requested by the login. The login failed."
What am I doing wrong?
Manipulate your asp code in whatever editor floats your boat, but try your code in IIS without your ide and see what happens.

View Replies View RelatedOn a remote server running W2K and thus IIS 5 I have session variables declared in a global.asa file in the root of the application which are passed and visible on all pages with no problem. This was also the case on my localhost before (127.0.0.1), also on W2K / IIS 5. But now for some reason one variable doesn't pass through at all and the other is taken as a String on the localhost.
The problem area in question in my Global.asa file (which is identical on the remote and local servers)

Now i am trying to auto download the file. that means user click the link, it straight away download to for eg. "D:Test". my problem is the web page is at server. user will access the web page thru http, but how am i going to auto download to the user's local drive?

I am using some flash movies & images in a many pages of my site. (like page1.asp, page2.asp, page3.asp)
The problem is when I browse one page to another (redirecting from page1.asp to page2.asp) the other page is again start downloading these images & flash movies. But they are already downloaded by previous page (page1.asp)
Is there any way that to save time, I use the same media (images & flash) that are already downloaded by first page.
While for variables, we can do that by putting them in session. But for media...any know any way....

All I want to do is set a session variable in my default page which points to a directory on my server where all media for my site is contained. Now, I used a session variable to do this, and fell into a trap. Say I set it up like this:
Session("mediadir")="D:dev<sitename>media". Now, when anyone looks at my site, the mediadir variable is trying to point to their d:dev.... What should I do. I know it is crazy, but I have mental blank.

What I basically want to happen is somehow allow the user to create a playlist, or allow them to "queue it up" when clicking on different media types.
In other words, if I have 10 mp3s on my site, and the user wants to listen to 5 of them, without clicking on the next song to play after the first song is finished, and can queue additional songs while any song is playing. Can this be done?

I have multiple video and audio files that I want to play on my site. They are also multiple sizes. Some are 320x240 and some are other wacky sizes. What I am trying to do is create a dynamic PopUp player to embed Windows Media Player in.
I have a Database where I have put the links and the display text for the video and audio files. I am currently using JavaScript to make my PopUp window.
Is there any way with ASP I can automatically size the PopUp windows to the right size to correctly house my embedded media player? I use ASP to create the link to the PopUp Window and then once the Window is open I use ASP to get the video file, i do the same for audio files.

I have a noticeboard that the user inputs items into. One of those is the date of an event. Once that event has passed I want it to disappear from the page.
So I need to do a comparison with current date to the date in the "datestarted" field. My table is called "notices." Using Access and ASP VBscript.
Is there anyway I can get the information about a file on the local machine of a user that is reading pages from my web site? Scripting.FileSystemObject does not have permission to do this, and I want to check the size of a file before I try to get it uploaded.
