Date.parse
Can anyone explain why this,
Date.parse("Jan 1, 1970")
equals this,
18000000
?
Microsoft's documentation reports this, "
The parse method returns an integer value representing the number of
milliseconds between midnight, January 1, 1970 and the date supplied
in dateVal.
"
Would that not imply that the above value should be ZERO?

I'm retrieving an XML document posted to my page using 3 simple lines
Code:
set xmldoc = Server.CreateObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM")
xmldoc.async=false
xmldoc.load(Request)
I know there is data being sent but when i run
Code:
Response.write xmldoc.parseError.reason
It's consistantly telling me No data is available for the requested resource. Does anyone know why this message would appear when the request "should" have some data in it.
Also is there anyway I can view the raw results in "request"?

What I want to do is simply upload a file and read the information in there. I don't want to save the file onto the server or anything difficult.
My problem is I don't know how to recieve the file once the user clicks on the Submit button. So far I have the Enctype as "multipart/form-data" and an input type as "file". That's it.

I need to parse a string from a single, semi-colon delimited, 60 character field (el_text) in a recordset and display the results in a table on a webpage (ASP). I can retrieve the recordset from the database and display the field data results in rows of a table but have the entire 60 character string in one cell.
I need to break that string apart and put each semi-colon delimited value in it's own cell. Then move to the next record and do the same thing in the next row of the table. and so on. I'm using ASP, VB Script with DMSII Database and OLEDB. how to break this field apart and then arrange the data into an html table on a webpage?

parse the page. Code:

I was excited to use Microsoft Index Server, built into IIS, to set-up a site-search function, but it doesn't, by default, parse the ASP code of the pages it indexes. This makes it sort of a weak option for a site that uses variables to populate content in a templated site.
For example, I use variables to fill in the meta tags, and every page shows up in the search results as "UNTITLED." The problems go much deeper than that, but that's just an example.
if there's a trick to make it parse the code before it indexes? I mean, it's IIS, right? It should be able to parse ASP code. (You would think.) It seems to know not to index the ASP code, or else the contents of the variables would still be indexed, so it seems like it has the potential to parse the code before indexing.

I have a database with records that contain data like the following:
"vendor" - "phone number" - "city", "state" "problem."
For example:
xyzcompany - 800-123-4567 - new york, ny tp.
The line above is one record, the company names will differ (but are
limited to a dozen), the format of the number will always be with a dash
seperating the area code and number, the city and state will be in
place, and the problem will be a two letter code followed by a period.
I need to be able to parse that record into seperate session variables
