Can anyone recommend a site that contains any tutorials on developing a Dynamic photo gallery for websites. Something with ASP+Javascript or ASP+VBScript or even with XML+CSS.
I want it so the images can be updated automactically, hence why it needs a backend database.
I have a photo gallery written in ASP where people can go and upload their own pictures to create a gallery. The only problem is the size of the image files, it takes forever to load the main gallery page. I've noticed on like community web shots for example, that all of their image files are kept really small. Is there any way to dynamically compress files while uploading them
I am trying to create a photo gallery using asp in dreamweaver,i create a recordset to capture the image path.
However there is a problem when it comes into displaying the picture. When using the repeat region function, all the images are display only in 1 row by * column .How can i display like 1 page can display only 4 row by 4 column?
I am currently buidling a website for a photographer and she wants to be able to upload her photos each week, so that they can be viewed on her site by the public.
Does anyone know of a free simple gallery system that I could use on this website. Any system like this whereby she can upload/remove the images her self (backend i.e .asp to MS Access) and display them on the public site would be perfect.
I have developed an asp dynamic picture gallery, which reads the contents of the folder on the server & if they are pictures, display their thumbnails in the html table, on clicking any thumnail, you 'll get the big picture.
I didn't use any database in it, while I did it with File System Object of ASP, is it a right approach to develope. Because we are showing the contents of our web directory of server to the end user. or some server can create trouble for us while reading content from server hard disc...
Problem: they are EXTREMELY security-conscious, and as a part of that are still running ASP 2.0. So, I need to set up a development system for ASP 2.0 that warns me when I use ASP 3.0/ASP.NET features.
I'm running Win2K with all updates, with the included IIS installed. It includes ASP, but I don't know what version. So, my questions:
- How can I determine what version of ASP I have?
- Any suggestions on what tools I should be using to limit features to ASP 2.0? (My understanding of the ASP.NET tools is that they tend to hide all the behind-the-scenes implementation details; this would be a problem here because they'd certainly use post-2.0 features.)
I'm a beginning ASP programmer, doing some fairly basic dynamic server work for a client. Problem: they are EXTREMELY security-conscious, and as a part of that are still running ASP 2.0. So, I need to set up a development system for ASP 2.0 that warns me when I use ASP 3.0/ASP.NET features.

Is there any way to develop a web spider that crawls into websites whos links are stored in my SQL database and fetch out sites if the keywords specified are found in any of its pages.
I would like to start using ASP.NET on some projects at the studio where I work. We currently use PC and Mac, depending on the project, but all ASP.NET work has been done on the PCs. We also have a commercial SQL server that, to my knowledge, was setup through a Windows configuration (what this means really escapes me).
Anyway, I was under the impression that I'd have to purchase some type of emulation software like Microsoft's Virtual PC (from which I could install IIS 6.0), but couldn't I just create asp pages on my Mac and upload them to the server?
I am developing an asp application that requires data collection to occur both offline and online. Rather than redevelop the same asp pages used for online collection in another application like visual basic, I would like to be able to use the same asp webpages offline.
However, I can not seem to find any good solutions for offline use of ASP pages. I am hesitant to install PWS on each user using the application and would like to look at other options. I found an application that claims to "compile" ASP code (ASPExplore), but I yet to get it to work properly.
We wanna develop a SMS and email reminder. The users can set date and time and reminder msg, it can be monthly, daily or weekly. We need to send sms at the scheduled time, so please kindly advise me what is the best method i can do, by creating an ActiveX component in VB or developing dll in ASP or any other best way.
The only thing coming to my mind is there should be some application running continously on the server, by the way do we really need to have one dedicated server? We have to run the script for every 5 or 10 minutes. I think we can do this by task scheduler or with any service, but which will be best for better performance?

My form with a upload photo function is not working - Can some one please take a look and see were I have messed up. The code is 4 sections : The Form, The DB script, The submit Script and the Upload script. Code:
What I need to know is how to have a camera take photos when given a signal/event and save the name of the image in a database.
I don't know which camera/webcam could save the image on a hard disk in a low resolution (suitable for web pubblishing, let's say 300x200 pixels) and trigger an event to add the image's name in a database.
I want to get the exact Dimension of the Photo (jpg, jpeg, gif, ...) uploaded on a server by users. I'm using ASP language. do u guys have any idea how I can do that?
i would like to do a photo carousel function similar as the http://flickr.com/photos/69864550@N0...n/photostream/. the function i would like to do is on tis flickr.com web at the right hand side for tat photo stream http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...2008/image.jpg
let say in my album have 100 photo. and from tis funciton, it will not load out all my 100 photos when the page is loaded. it will load the others photo when i click on the NEXT arrow button. i need some help on tis funciton and implement it with ASP VBscript code.
i am not sure that this subject can be discussed here. i have many photos. they are stored according to the name of the EVENT and YEAR. i will set up a database (sql or access) to store information of the photo and set up a folder to store the "PHOTOs". and design a web page to show.
My question is how to put the photo on the web page:
i prefer the simplest and effortless method. Once the user takes the photos (5m pixel photo) and upload them and input the event name & year. then it is finished.
any tools can be used? which programming language is most suitable. i noted many web sites have this feature but i don't know how many effort at the back end?
Sometimes when I'm uploading photos In my site I get the following error :
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'
Script timed out
/process2upload.asp
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools. What can I do to specify a new value Server.ScriptTimeout?
Is it possible to do any photo (jpg) maniputlation in an ASP script? I'd like to be able to rotate a photo. Also, if it can be done, reduce a file size to produce a thumbnail. If so, can anyone point me to the resources for learning to do this.
I would like to be able to have an image gallery that i can upload photo's to. It would have to resize the image to say 1024x768 and also make a small thumbnail, then add the neccessary data to a database so that i can easily display it.
What is the best way to go about this without spending any money?
I want to make a gallery, in which the images are hosted on the same server, the images' names are not ordered in a/decending order (old1,old2,old3 etc.) , and i want an ASP page, that will automatically create space in a table for every picture existing on a specific folder (the folder probably won't contain only images...not quite sure yet).. i can't remember how it's done...,
I want to create an image gallery using ASP and JavaScript. The JavaScript is for the image effects, and ASP is required for selecting images from an image folder,to display it.How do I go about the asp part of it? And is it possible for me to embed a javascript within an ASP code?
I am building an application via ASP that uses an MS Access database to hold inventory for large truck dealerships. I have two columns in the database, one for thumbnails and one for regular (about 450 pixels wide) sized images. The columns in the database hold the URL's to the images in the folders. I need to create a photo upload that accomplishes the following things: 1. Will re-size and rename the photograph regardless of what the user has it named and sized as. I would like to be able to have the code create the thumbnail and the larger image if that is possible. 2. I need to be able to have that photograph attached to the inventory information that goes with it. I have a very basic page built, but of course, it does not do any of the "fluffy" stuff I mentioned above. I am not very good with VB and most of what I have seen out there is really contingent upon knowing VB. I tried using a 3rd party application, but to be quite honest, it sucked. Having said that, can any of you point me in the right direction toward having the above features?
I know there has to be a million post on this, but is there an example I can use or see to make this happen. I want to use a database to view an album and pictures in my web pages.
I am about to get rid of TZO on my computer, and I've been using it's photo software to view photo's on my web site. I could write something in ASP (or asp.net), but I figure why spend time re-inventing the wheel if there's something already out there.
Does anyone have any recommendations on ASP apps that I can use for viewing photo's on my web site? I would rather it be free if possible, and it needs to just look at a folder, or series of folders, and build a thumbnail type of view from what's there. In other words, I don't want to have to populate a database with all of my pictures.
What I am trying to do is reach for a image link in database and each photo is uploaded to a folder from people applying for a job, picture goes to a folder and the link goes into a field in the DB, so I have a url like
www.mysite.com/images/01.jpg
When the page "viewingApplicant.asp" grabs the photo
I just need the photo. so the asp-code contains the url + 01.jpg.
is there any tutorial links on image gallery with database (SQL) on Classic ASP. Where the image record display horizontaly 4 image columns in a row, it also has brief description and the record id displays.
The platform is Win03, Access and SQL is available, along with all the normal image components (aspjeg, etc..).
I have searched and I could spend several days looking for something. I was hoping to get some recommendations based on experience. I would like to stay under 100 if I was to purchase something.
Goals: Autothumbnail for the viewer.
Let the user manage their gallery Admin area for uploading, categorizing, captions, and deleting.
I am using ASP code to auto-generate a gallery based on files within a directory structure and I got it to work a while back. Lately I've been consistently receiving "Out of Memory" errors when I access that module. I haven't made any drastic changes to my system so I can't exactly figure out what subtle changes if not inherent in the code flaw is causing this ...
I want a page where I will have an image gallery. The page when loaded goes and grabs all the picutres in the directory and puts them into an array, creating thumbnails for them as well (found this part in my search).
After the thumbnails are loaded, I want the pictures to be loaded in the same window, in a section underneath the thumbnails. Also Can I scroll the thumbnails left or right on mouseover? not in a full circle but left until the first one is encountered and right until the last picuture is showed?
