Database Fields In A Input Form

How can I specify formatting restrictions for special fields like Postal Code
(format X1X 2C2) or date input field MM/DD/YYYY? I have Acces DB with these specs, but when I used FP2002 Database Interface Wizard, it ignores these. Also I am unable to "edit" any of the records utilizing pages generated by this wizard.

There is an error that it will not accept empty fields. I have no problem adding data (even if some fields are empty) or deleting records.

Search DB Based On Multiple Form Fields On Submit??

I have a form on one page where someone selects a bunch of options and details about a specific category. Then on the next page they fill out a form with contact information, name, address, email, etc.

Well what I want to know is when they click Submit on that contact form is there a way to have it so it goes through and searches the database for any that match the state and county(which they will select from a )??

So what I basically want right now is for the first form to be filled out, then the second form to be filled out, then when they are submitted it will go through the database and select everyone in there with that state and county, then on the next page display the results of both forms AND the matches in the db(obviously whatever fields I want it to display).

I already have both forms(basic html), I already have the dynamic dropdown for state and county(classic asp), what Im wondering is how do I put that dynamic dropdown in the contact form and then when submitted it will go through and search the db based on what was selected there. Would this be some sort of onClick for the submit button tellin it to search the db based on the dropdown or how would I get started on something like this?

There will be other information on the dropdown like name address email so one problem I was wondering about was my dropdown menu. When you select the state it refreshes the page and then loads the counties, so wouldnt that erase anything that was filled out on the form?

I could make it so they actually type the name of their state and county but that causes problems too because if they mispell either then it wont return any results.

Preserve Input Fields

I have a .asp form page that submits to another .asp page that uses cdonts to send me an email and does a response.redirect back to the form page. I need to preserve (keep) a couple of text box values and a couple of dropdown box values.

At this point I have global.asa variables for the fields in question and they are all set to null. I can't figure out how to put the contents back in the fields, when it returns from the cdonts page. I assume that I must save all the field values in the session variables just prior to the submit to the cdonts page.

show me how to accomplich this for one text field called name and one dropdown box called PUDeliv?

Input Fields Blank Space

I have entries in the database that have spaces (Todd's Place) but when I try to get the info into an input box it only shows the first part of the string before the space (Todd's) Here is my code
strSQL = "SELECT ID, memname FROM tblMembers WHERE ID =" & numID
Set rsEdit = adoCon.Execute (strSQL)

<input type=text value=<%= rsEdit.Fields("memname").Value %>>

The funny thing is I can see the whole string when I view the source on the page (<input type=text value=Todd's Place>) but why can't I see it in the form.

Could someone tell me how to setup a 'default' value that will return all results. Or how to exclude a fields from a search if it's left blank?

Submit Form Data And Refresh Form

I have a series a forms that submit data to different tables in a database. As it stands, when a user completes FORM 1 and clicks the SUBMIT button, the FORM 1 data is submitted (action = form2.asp, method = post) to ASP code at the top of FORM 2 (request.form("form1 field name") etc...), and submitted to the database with SQL code, also at the top of FORM 2(INSERT into...). Hence the submit button on FORM 1 directs the user to FORM 2, and submits the data which is exaclty what I wanted. However, I now need the users to submit multiple sets of data with FORM 1, and direct them to FORM 2 once they have finished using FORM 1. Most importantly, I need to pass a few parameters from FORM 1 to FORM 2, and have these parameters submitted to the database.

My main problem is getting a fresh form1 after submiting the same form1, in preparation for anoter set of data using the same form. Basically, the database has 'one to many' relationship tables. Form1 and form2 are both populating the 'many' tables, so that each form needs to be filled-in several times while retaining the key field of the 'one' table. At the moment submiting form1 takes me to form2. Is is possible to submit the data to the database, get form1 back again to submit more data, as many times as required, then click another button to load form2 when the user is finished with form1?

Can anyone please give me some pointers? or at least explain the concept of what I need to do. I am a novice and it's taking me a while to get to this stage. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to post FORM1 to itself and insert the data (i.e. place the request.form at the top of FORM 1) If so, how do I direct users to FORM 2 while retaining my parameters?

Form/input Tags In A Textarea

I am designing a website for a friend that has a backend database that holds information on all the stock they have and this gets displayed onto the page no problems.

The only problem I have is when they add new items to the database, a part of the form is a textarea and in this teaxtarea they copy generated code from paypal (a form that is generated by Paypal as a add to basket button).

The problem I have got is that if you try to add this textarea to the database field what you get is a image of the paypal button and no code.

I have tried the replace function, concatenated it in comments etc but all i get is a blank field or a image of the button.

Manipulating User Input From A Form

I have a HTML page with a form on it. I have an ASP page that processes what a user has entered into the form (updates a database etc).

I now need a page that fits between these two pages to pre-processthe users input. I need to do it this way because I am not allowed to change either of the two existing pages.

I know how to read what the user has input into the form and I know how to pass control onto the next page.

What I have not been able to work out is how to change the user input and have those changes passed onto the next page as if nothing has happened (that is, the original ASP page just performs its request.form(item) calls as it always has but instead of seeing what the user actually typed in, it should see the changed text as created by the new pre process page)

I have tried using a regular expression replace but can only successfully make this change a variable and not the original form input. Equally I cannot find a way of swapping the original form input string with the output variable from the replace.

Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

Check For Blank Form Input

I'm working on a form where the user is not required to fill out every text input. How mught I check for that in an ASP script. Here's what I have:

If Request.Form("mp3title1") == ""
amnt = 0;
Else If Request.Form("mp3title2") == ""
amnt = 1;
Else If Request.Form("mp3title3") == ""
amnt = 2;
Else If Request.Form("mp3title4") == ""
amnt = 3;
Else If Request.Form("mp3title5") == ""
amnt = 4;
End If

Pretty straight forward, its checking in order if the first element is left blank, is the correct technique:

== "", or is there more to it?
