I'm building a 'spot the ball' gaming site where people choose a point on an image closest to where the ball should be. This works in Flash by assigning co-ordinates to that point.
However, I need to do a database look-up when the competition is over, to see who has the closest point. I'm hoping to build an ASP application that will enable the administrator to enter the correct co-ordinates, then click a button to find the closest entry in the database. I can't think of an accurate automated way to do this. Has anyone built anything similar? What would be the best way to achieve this?

My asp application allows a number of users to log into it. Each user has a different type of access level (General User, Manager or Administrator). I want the administrator to be able to see how many other users are logged into the application at a particular time. How can I do this? Would the use of an application object work for this?

I have a login page that posts to an asp page and uses a security.inc and database for the security on the site. I'm looking for an effective way to track who is logging into my site. each user has a specific username and password that is checked against the database. How can I find out which of these users are actually logging onto my site?

I'm just wondering if there is ordering online software which has a feature to create a customised user environment (different product and prices for different user) for each login user? I really need that feature for one of my customer.
If it is not available could you please suggest a product that has this feature?

I want to be able to log in a database any transactions my users perform. For example logging in, requesting a page, downloading a resource, logging out etc.
What is the most practical way to code this? I was thinking of trying to use an include file which would have a function to add a log in the database for each page on the site or when a particular action is performed.

I am building a website to pull data from a remote https site using xmlhttp. The data from the https site is behind a login screen. I can successfully get through the login screen with:
set objXMLHTTP = Server.CreateObject("Msxml2.ServerXMLHTTP")
objXMLHTTP.Open "POST", "https://website.com/validate-login2.asp", false
objXMLHTTP.SetRequestHeader "Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"
objXMLHTTP.Send "Username=uname&password=pwd&company=O"
That works great - but then, when I try to go to the next page (where the data is that I want to pull) - I use the same process and I get kicked back out to the login screen? Could there be some cookies, referer, strings being passed normally that I am not including in my second request - How do i find out for sure?
I have used the software IETrace and it looks like some cookies being passed, but how do I know for sure if (and what exactly) it is using?

I want to login to a page using MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.4.0 or an object like this, I must send the form variables needed to login when I try to login to the page. But the problem is, that the page looks like a exe file (not a asp file or php file or what ever). The name of the page I try to login is something like "/pw?/session/login", nothing more, without extension. I have tried the code with a normal asp file with session registration and login process and it worked, but not with this file.

We have our web-site developed in classic ASP, and I need to add this additional feature on one of the pages to access a VB application. How can I do that? The VB application basically sends output to the COM3 port and opens a USB-Cash drawer that is attached to it. I am not sure how to go about with this.

I am trying to locate a file using the following code
Set objXMLHTTP = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP")
strURL = "http://server/ApprovedAutoCAD/140-00007-01.dwg"
objXMLHTTP.Open "GET", strURL, False, "login", "password"
objXMLHTTP.Send
strReturn = objXMLHTTP.status
I get a 404 status back indicating that the file is not found, which is incorrect. I am able to locate XLS and DOC files on the same directory. Any ideas why I cannot find a DWG (Drawing) file?

I am not sure if this is a question for this forum or the IIS forum but here goes. I have a dedicated server on which I am hosting about 80 websites at the moment, all of which have been created by copying a template site. All of these sites have an identical structure and are located in the same directory on the server, C:Inetpubvhosts. Several times when I have needed to make an adjustment to the sites I have to go into the remote desktop connection to the server and go site by site, copying and pasting files. For example, as each site has the same pages, ie., map.asp, sometimes I make a change to that page and have to copy it to every site. Could I write some sort of script using the FSO and execute it from one site and have it loop through each site on the server making the neccessary change(s)?

At first glance, the question in the subject line seems way too easy. But I
am finding some situations in my app where the value in a variable is some
sort of blank-like value, such as Null or " " or "", but I cannot tell
which.
Of course, in order to find out the value, I did a response.write, and added
a nonsense word afterward, to help make sure it is writing it out for me.
First, I tried to check for null: Code:

Based on what the user selects in a combo box I need to find the value from another column in the same record. This is what I am using:
rsPrice.movefirst
rsPrice.Find "Component='Desktop'"
If (rstPrice.BOF = True) or (rstPrice.EOF = True) Then
response.write("The Price for the Component Not Found")
else
curPrice =rsPrice("Score")
End If
I keep getting an error messages:

I'm coding in classic asp and can't figure how to get IE6 to display some kind of descriptive message about code errors? I have the correct settings under ADVANCED in IE's options selected.
What bugs me is sometimes IE will report the line number and a message, and then other times it's the standard "The page can't be displayed." When you have hundreds of lines of code, how can you fight this?

I am attempting the following for a real estate website. I want to list the agents for the office all of whom have a unique identifier with an Auto Number type. As I loop through the recordset, I also want to open another table called listings. This table has a field called agent whose value is a number and corresponds to an agent in the agent table.
If there is a listing in the listing table, I want to insert a link to "View Listings", if not, no link. I am having a hard time doing this and if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I tried the Find method but to no success.

I want to find numbers in one comma seperated string which are not in another one. For instance if I have two strings "strString1" and "strString2 how can I find numbers in "strString1" which are not in "strString2" Example:
strString1 = "1,3,6,12"
strString2 = "1,6"
In this case the numbers I want to end up with are 3 and 12.

I am wondering if there is a command to determine what the current directory is.
My reason for this is that i have a include file called connection.asp sat in a folder called Data. My connection.asp file holds the connection details. I need to determine whether the file calling the include is in the root folder or not.
EG. if it is the root folder the location of the db will be "Data/dbMarkShop.mdb" but if it is another folder, say a Scripts folder, the location of th db would be "../Data/dbMarkShop.mdb"
