I have a querystring that passes through the value 001 for example, the form on the receiving page need to display that number but with 1 added to it. i have
dim strnum strnum = request.querystring("value") strnum = strnum + 1
when displayed <%=strnum%> shows 2 instead of 002, and the zero's are very important, is there any number formating trick i dont know or another way of doing this?i thought about coding the first two zero's in before i call the strnum but this would mess things up when i get to 010 etc.
I would like to format URLS that are being retreived from a database. Here is an example:
bodytext="this is some text http://www.sitepoint.com/ this is some more text" response.write(bodytext)
how could I change the URL (http://www.sitepoint.com/) to a link? So instead of http://www.sitepoint.com/, it would be <a href="http://www.sitepoint.com/">http://www.sitepoint.com/</a>. There are going to be an infinate amount of URL's (the user can type in any one) and it is just not the URL by itself.
When i send a text string to my database linebreaks are stored, but when i call it from asp to the page all linebreaks are lost. this will reformat text to look different than i was initially typed, how can i make the text shown on webpage in orginal formating. hope im clear on this or ask and i will elaborate.

I posted before about replacing special characters (esp. '). However, I am wondering how formatting can be kept when entering it into a textbox to store in a database?
When text with seperate paragraphs is entered, it comes out as one big paragraph later on.Is there anyway to address this? When I was doing my searching - somethign about chr(10) kept coming up, but I am not sure what this is.
I have an ASP page taking data from a table. I would like that the data is shown as a % (like 51.456897%) All it shows with my code below is 0.51456897.

I am importing a time into a sql datetime field from a text datafile using vbscript in an asp file. The time coming in will look like 8:00 or 3:30 or some other similar thing.
Because it is doesn't have am or pm associated with it, I have to force the issue or sql will assume am all of the time, and I am sure that no judge in our county is going to hear a case in the middle of the night!
So I have to add 12 hours to anthing that could be an afternoon time before I add it to the database to keep it from looking stupid in the display screens.
I am storing dates in a mySql database in the format yyyy-mm-dd. Now, I have set up so that this field is insert by a form.
It isn't very user friendly to have to type yyyy-mm-dd, how can I set up so that the user can enter format dd/mm/yyyy and it will automatically insert into the database as yyyy-mm-dd? I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and ASP.
I need to insert some number into database as text. My problem is if I insert the number (ie. 4.0), the value in the database only show (4). So, is it possible to convert a real number into text number using ASP?
in master batch table i have various master batch like 200701-0001 200701-0002 200701-0003
Now each master batch can have multiple final mixed batch like
200701-0001-01 200701-0001-02 200701-0001-03
and this record is inserted in to fmix table.
so i have a form in which i have a dropdown menu in which all the master batch is listed, i select 200701-0001 and that value is passed to next page where i will enter other fields data and insertion to my fmix_no will be done automatic like 200701-0001-01, 200701-0001-02 and so on,
how to achieve this
so in short each master batch will have more than one final mixed batch.

I want To handel the error messages by myself in one part in my script. I know that in VB I can Use the statment - On error resume next And I also know that I can retrive the Error Number In VB with Err.Number.
How can I handel the errors by myself in ASP? I heard about the ASPErr Object, Is it the same thing like the err object in VB?
I want to use the instr function, but return results from it depending on surtain functions, I can't realy explain so I'll show my example:
I have a string in wich some word I want to find might be in diffrent Capital Letters order, I want the Instr function to return all the values of the place of that word (avcourse I'll run a for and increase the starting point of the Instr func until it returns 0). The instinct thought is to use the Lcase or the Ucase functions, but in this case I don't know how to use them. In the same Idea I wanted to use the Instr Func with the trim Func, But Its realy the same principle if I just understood how to do so.
I have an error statement in place which i would like to catch when a problem aoccures and assign a value to Compensation. Code:
If Err.number<>0 then
If iCount Mod 2 = 1 Then objRS.Move ((iCount + 1)*0.9)-1 Compensation = Int(objRS(0)) Else objRS.Move (iCount*0.9)-1 Compensation = objRS(0) objRS.MoveNext Compensation = (Compensation + objRS(0))/2 End If Else Compensation = 0 End If
at the moment,Compensation seems to always have the value of 0 even when an error is not evident. Have i got this the wrong way around?
I am using the code below to count the number of records and divide it by the sum of the records to get the average number. I get the error : Type mismatch: 'ubound' . I know I'm missing something obvious as my experience with arrays have rendered below.
<% PriceArray = Recordset1("TotalBidPrice") %>
<% for x = 0 to ubound(PriceArray,2) CountArray = CountArray + PriceArray(0,x) next
I have a form on my site, in the form there is a field called ticketid, I want this field to be prepopulated everytime the user opens the form, Also would like to have it start with 1000 so if the it gets open second time its 1001, third time 1002 and so on. Code:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80040E2F) Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'ContactID', table 'ka0506a.ka0506a.contacts'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. /submitcontact.asp, line 15
What happened is i used to used MS Access and ContactID is an Autonmuber field, and now my connection is set to MS SQL so it's giving me this error, what's causing this error to happen and how can i change it ?
