Getting HTML Source From Web Pages To Include In My ASP Scripts
I am running an ASP script which I require to get the source html from
some URL so I can pick out bits of this and include the data in my
webpage. So it should have a function something like this:
Function GetHTMLSource(String URL)
which retuns the source for example as a string or an array of strings
I'm not sure how to tackle getting the html source. I've tried setting
up an Internet Explorer object and also using the
createDocumentFromUrl function which have worked in VB but I can't get
to work in ASP

I'm just trying to set up a testing server via Dreamweaver that is my local box. HTML works fine and ASP works fine IF there is no js code input. I can save a few images in a table as an ASP page and it works great, but if I try to pull a table from a database, the browser suddenly displays the code, rather than the page.
I've heard some people referring to articles that might address this, but so far I'm not seeing them.
I have .asp files being handled by asp.dll from the internet information services section.
What the heck am I missing? What else should I provide y'all so we can brainstorm this?

I am currently attempting to convert from PHP to ASP and I am having some difficulties.
Foremost, from my PHP page I have pages that reference HTML source code from a remote page, write it to a local page and then displays it. I haven't been able to find any way to display this HTML source anywhere.

i have many *.html* pages with the same header. i wanted to make one *header* file and put a link to that file in all html pages. So if i ever need to make changes in the header, i will need to edit only 1 file rather than all pages.
for *.asp* pages this code works fine:-
<!-- #include file="filename.inc" -->
but the same **include** does not work for *.html* pages. i guess there is some other way to put a link!

I want to make a web page in which I would include first header from header.html(it works fine),then sql connection subs from sql.asp, then variables from config.asp and so on.
when I write include for those asp files it doesn't seem to read them (no variables can be read)and when i try using server.execute,it shows me their content like in normal html files.I've tried to find a solution, but either I haven't looked long enough or it's not available.

I am trying to get a poor mans mod-rewrite done on an IIS server which I do not have full access to.
What I have decided to do is literally copy the interpreted code from the asp page and create an html file with the name that I would like.
Other than manually doing this, is there an ASP or VB command to save the contents of a page after its been run on the client side, and save it as another file?

I'd like to process HTML documents in an ASP script, i.e. to remove any unwanted
elements and extract desired element and attributes. I know how to do it on
client side within IE using its HTML DOM. But what I'd like is to do it
server-side. Is there a way, for instance, to reuse MSIE technology to retrieve
interfaces like IHTMLElement, IHTMLDOMAttribute, aso, or just built-in features
that would allow me to do the same?

I'm planning to design a comprehensive shopping cart in asp that will work on different pre-designed html templates. This means that for each html template, the various asp pages like categories (category.asp), products (products.asp), cart (cart.asp) and so on will have same appearance in terms of page background, top logo, company slogan, top links, copyright & privacy statements at bottom, etc. My question is --
Is it possible to divide the html code of a particular template in two parts, like header (header.asp or header.inc) and footer (footer.asp or footer.inc) so that for any asp page, I just include header first followed by asp scripts and then footer ?
If possible, how it is done ? I heard that it is possible in php pages with the help of 'Require' statement. Can anyone suggest any similar page on the web ?

I have a couple of static HTML pages live, as a sort of family blog. Now I just found out how ASP could work, experimenting with WikiAsp.
What I would like to know is whether it is possible to include some DHTML in my static pages for gathering comments on blog entries, which are saved to a database for example on 1asphost.
Of course it would also be nice to read out the database again to see the comments to each blog entry in the static pages. Can this all be done using ASP?

I'm building a site which runs on 4 templates, each a different colour. I would like to pull in different content into each template using ASP.NET, similar to the php version of index.php?page=content.
I've not programmed in ASP before so am hoping someone can either supply me with a script or point me in the right direction.

I am trying to prevent users from submitting HTML pages from their local machine to our website and I was wondering what the best way of doing this was.
I was thinking about using the HTTP_REFERER server variable (to check where the user has submitted a page from) as a blanket fix however when you use the javascript document.location on a page the HTTP_REFERER is always blank, which makes that a flawed fix.
I have seen other sites protect against this, so I know it can be done. Whats the best way.

Using IIS 5.0 and sometime some asp pages (absolutely
randomly) showing as blank white pages. So far only one
way of fixing it - restart whole server. Restarting IIS,
or specific web server not helping, only whole server.
I enable server side and client side debugging, but no
errors showing up...
In view source pages always look like this:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0
Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html;
charset=windows-1251"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>

Any idea why it can happened and how to fix?

I am working on a small project which requires XML data to be read from ASP.
I am successful at using XML/DOM objects. But when the data size goes up, sequential access will tax the web server. I would like to retrieve the data in the xml file like a MSAccess DB.
I read somewhere that XML source can be provided as data stream in ADO. If anyone has knowledge on this, please provide me links. If possible, answer to these queries will also be appreciated.
1. Which version of IIS supports this.
2. Which version of ADO
3. Additional components needed at the server ?
I found the following link at MS.

I am looking for an open source, very simple CMS that allows an administrator to add pages, news articles, and maybe a staff directory.
We don't need new users to signup, or comment, or anything along those lines. Maybe a wysiwyg editor included. Just for a homepage, a news section (that may include many sub-cats, pages).

I've got a Windows 2000 server running with about 50 websites on it, all
running ASP scripts. I've noticed that the servers CPU usage gets up 100%
sometimes, caused by dllhost.exe, which I'm certain is a hanging ASP script
somewhere on the box. Probably an on error resume next line that doesn't go
anywhere when an error is an encountered. Anyways, I'm not sure if there's
a way to isolate the website where its originating, or even the page this
problem is originating from. Is there a way to do this?

Is there a way of processing an ASP page and placing the resulting HTML
source code into a TEXTAREA on another page?
I have a page that will be generated dynamically from database content.
However, I want a form on another page to have access to the compiled source
code for use in an electronic newsletter.
Manually I would load the dynamic page, view the source and copy it out. I
would then paste it into my form field on the relevant page.

This is not really language specific but more of a source code parsing.
I have a large ASP source file that I like to split up, resulting in separate ASP files, each containing one function and the filename named after that function.
Does anyone know of a tool/script which does this?
PS: I am too lazy to learn Perl/AWK/Python to do this, hence why I believe someone has already written a tool/script to do this. Possibly in C++/etc.
