I have created one dynamic chart creation application using vb dll. If I call this function from vb it is working fine. But If i call this function from ASP i got error while opening the excel file line. I have windows 2000 server. Do i need to give any permission for this? The same coding is working fine in NT server.
I have a script that opens a file and writes to it using ASP. I've used the script before and it worked fine locally, until recently, after I upgraded my computer to Windows XP Pro SP2. Also, it still works fine when I upload the script to my web host. However, locally on my computer using IIS, I get the error:
Error Type: Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A0046) Permission denied
This occurs on the line: Set FileTS = FileFSO.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath(".") & "" & FileName,2,TRUE)
I've searched online for answers and most articles say I have to set read and write access to the containing folder. I have done so for the containing folder and for the entire "wwwroot" folder, but the problem still occurs. I have also allowed anonymous access for my computer IUSR_XXXXX. This doesn't work either.
is it possible to open an excel file (used as a template) from server using server-side vbscript; then modify it or add values from client using client-side vbscript?
Does anybody know some code that opens a spreadsheet in excel rather than the browser? If possible something that can be used with response.redirect, however this isn't essential. I have a script that creates an excel report, and people then open this report from a link. However I've been asked whether it could be opened in excel.
when i try to open an excel spreadsheet using the following code, the process just hangs IF the spreadsheet contains macros:
Set objXls = CreateObject("Excel.Application") objXls.DisplayAlerts = False objXls.Visible = False objXls.Workbooks.Open my_excel_path '<-- hangs here
this worked on iis4, but since moving this to iis5 it fails under the aformentioned circumstances. my guess is that the macro security has something to do with it as a dialog box will pop up if macro security is set to medium, but i'm not sure this is really the problem. if it was, what profile should change the macro security on the server? when task manager is opened on the server to see the hanging task, it shows SYSTEM as the process owner...
I have a drop down on a page where user selects a value and then a excel file opens up it works good in mozilla but in IE it doesnt open up the excel file i see a new page been open but then suddenly it closes the file i have checked the popus in IE and i dont know what the problem is Here is the code Code: <% Response.ContentType ="application/vnd.ms-excel" getid=Trim(Request.querystring("id")) Response.write getid %> I see the output written when i use mozilla but it just doesnt work in IE.
From a LINK or BUTTON on a webpage can we invoke the usual OPEN FILE dialog box that come with all the windows application .
In my Application I want to ASK the user the Name of a FILE on the disk ... currently i am asking the user to input the COMPLETE PATH in a TEXTBOX ....
I need to incorporate some emails that are in a csv file, all sorted in one column, into a mySQL database.I dont find the way to open the CSV file in ADO
I have a configuration.txt file and would like to open that file in a browser for editing onclick of a button or hyperlink!! It is more than enough for me, if i just open the file as it is in a notepad itself, by clicking a link from the ASP code.
I am trying to open a DB connection in an ASP file (with an HTML interface). I have some idea how to do it, but I am not quite sure. It is linking to an Access DB. It is very simple, I am posting some data to the DB. Only one connection is needed to open.
I want to create a asp page where i can give the user an option of downloading a file or opening a file e.g an excel file.
How do i do this?? Ive already created an asp page which has a button- where the user can click on the button. The excel option of either opening the file or downloading it comes up- but i want this option actually on a asp page. How do I go about this?
I have a page in in ASP which lists static links to PDF files. When users click on the links, they receive the following message:
right-clicking on the link and selecting "save target as" generates the following error message from IE7: "The file could not be written to the cache"
Clicking the link, and selecting "save" from the resultant dialog generates: "Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found please try again later"
This page works fine in Mozilla. I've researched this a bit and have read about the caching issues, although none of the pages on the site address cache control. Any thoughts or ideas as to why this isn't working?
(incidentally, the more i look at it, the more i feel i should point out that to be totally sure your SQL statement is correct you should write it like:
INSERT INTO table_name (column1, column2,...) VALUES (value1, value2,....) so that you know your info is going to the right column on the table
I have a document saved to a public network server. The public directory grants change access to all users on the network. To keep my Word doc protected I am using the Security feature "File Sharing Options" in Word to attach a password to the document. This works as expected when users open the file with Windows Explorer.
I also have an ASP web page that has a link to my file on the public drive. When I click this link, the Word document loads without asking me for a password and is not read-only. (Note the link in formatted with an href attribute like this: file://servername/share/filename.doc)
Am I mssing something? Shouldn't the Word security work even if the file is accessed through a hyperlink?
I'm working on a document management app that saves scanned docs as PDF files in a local directory, then saves document metadata in an Internet-based SQL server.
The SQL server is then queried to retrieve document info and links are created that point to the files.
The code points to the proper local directory and file, but I can't get the browser to open the document in a target frame. If I open a test doc locally it works fine.
It works if the file in on the server side, how to use the component (DSOleFile) with the file on the client side? Also how can I calculate the width of the file. (Page set up - Landscape or porrait). Code:
The title looks a bit odd, but it is what I really need I have different users, which I get the information from them in an ASP page, the data is stored in a SQL database, one of these users is authorized to check and close the data entry. Once the data entry is closed, an ‘Excel’ file should be generated according the entered data and be placed in a directory for use of other users. My problem is how I can generate the mentioned ‘Excel’ file by clicking a button in an ASP page and transfer the recorded data in it.
I have to add a feature, on click of button file open as dialog box will open and user can attach a excel file. Then we can able to validate, actually file attached or not, it is excel file or not etc.. if everything is ok app will will do further processing on the file.. Can anybody suggest me the easy way out without licencing issues.. Since vbscript and jscript is used any fee tool available...I tried to do it through MSComDlg.CommonDialog but it is a licenced version. Also I tried to do it through <input type=file> but here one text box and browse button gets added..
I am trying to create an excel file consisting of data from a SQL database using asp. I dont want the file to open up in the browser. I want the file to be opened in Microsoft excel. I have seen similar questions out here but no answers.
I am getting an error on a page that uses asp to query a db then opens the page on the client in excel. The error is only occuring on XP boxes only. If I comment out the cache killers it opens fine but I want to make sure a user gets the most up to date data so I need some cache control in there. What can I do to fix this? Code:
One of the pages of my application opens an Excel 2000 workbook in a new window using Javascript. The workbook is read only and I use a window.open command to open the workbook. On the workbook's BeforeClose event I have a code to avoid the 'Save' dialog: Me.Saved = True
If I open the page locally, change some content and close the workbook, the 'Save' dialog does not appear, as expected. As soon as I open the workbook on the web, the 'Save' dialog still appears when I close the window. I need to allow my users to change the contents of the workbook but they cannot save the workbook. Is my approach wrong? How can I avoid the 'Save' dialog?
Can anyone help with this? Here is the code I am using. The problem is, where it checks if a file exists, it always goes to else. Even if the file is there, it won't open the file, goes straight to else part of statement.
<% If Session("strLogID") = "" Then Response.Redirect("http://website/pages/login.asp")
I am creating a webpage and have a form where a visitor will choose a day, month, and year. I want to pass the data from the form into an asp page which will process it and put it into a string and open the excel file requested. The excel file to open will depend on the day, month, and year chosen in the form.
I have a asp page which will get the data from multiple tables (with functions and procedures)and display data in HTML tables <TABLE> on ASP page.Is there any way we can create a excel file from the output of this ASP file.I know how to export if this information on ASP page is coming from single query from a database table.
I need to give users the option to enter a zip-code in a html form, and then search through an excel-file for that zip-code. If any entries are found, then I have to output these as html.
How should i start? And what if several users tries to search the excel-file at once?
Basically I need to search the excel-file as I would search a db.
I've done a few searches on google, but haven't really found any relevant info.
How to import a text file into Excel file using macro? Can this process run on the form menu button? I have attached a text file for your reference. Please give me some ideas of doing it
