Does anyone have any code examples on how to store a graphic image or binary file in an oracle database? One of my upcoming projects requires that I pull a file from the database and I want to experiment with this before I start on the project. I did a search on google, but nothing relivant showed up. View RepliesI have an ASP page working the way I want it to, no issues there. What I am trying to accomplish now is more on the graphic side. I have some hyper links on the left hand margin of the page. WHat I want to do is Color the width of that area different from the center of the page. Does anyone know how I can do that?
Can I add an image to the background adn have all the hyperlinks in the for front?
Is it just a color sertting in the form?

I dont need sophisticated charts, I need a class that allows me to dynamically create jpg or gif files, with methods similar to the System.Drawing namespace like createRectange, fillRectangle, drawLine etc.

View Replies View RelatedLooking around, theres a bunch of pre-made utilities out there for ASP that make graphs and charts. I guess they often just write binary image data on the fly, and they output the image. You can even say something like <img src="blah.asp">.
My problem is, I want to write images on the fly, but I dont need graphs or charts. I just want to have custom images created based on database data.
So my question is what are the underlying methods that these graphing utilities use to write this binary data? Can I write my own utility? I know PHP has a library to do this exact thing (GD Library). Does anybody know of an ASP equivalent?
I am looking for a way to have people enter some text, click a button and have the text show up on top of the existing graphics. I have no idea what this would be called, so if this is an existing topic, please forgive me and just point me to the topic. Is anyone aware of any sample code that demonstrates this?
View Replies View RelatedIm basically making a site that will have a homepage with links I will add everyday to graphics and movies on my server. When you click the link it will open a new page similiar to the homepage with the graphic/movie in the middle of hte page.
I know there's an easy way to do this so i can just have it call a database or something like that. Basically I want to just have to add a link to the home page describing what it is, then and add the link to the file to the database and have the coding do everything for me. I think this is asp.
Can someone clue me in. All the sites i've built up until now have hundreds of pages all consisting of the same thing and it's such a pain to keep duplicating code. I'm not looking to get too advanced. If I don't have to use an access database, i don't want to.

have a question about sending HTML based email containing graphics. I am using the cdosys component to send an email from a ASP script. If the generated HTML message contains graphics, do I need to include those files as mail attachments to the email? Or as a easier solution is it possible to use a full URL to a image as a image source, if so how?

I had made a form name 'dform.html' which asks idno, name and phone from the user and after the user clicks on button "save data" sdata.asp is executed. sdata.asp is written to save the values entered for idno,name and phone in dform.html into table "myfriends" in the mydata.mdb (access database). but when i am clicking on save data button i am getting error saying

I work with ASP for several weeks now and i really like it! But until now i have just used it in connection with my localhost. I made connections to a SQL Database and to an ACESS Database with using the ODBC Tool from WIndows!!
Now i want to publish my website but i don't know how to handle the connection string kind of thing. My MySQL-Database is on a different server than the website and i need a connection string where i can type in the server, a password and a username and it should then connect.

- Customer
- Products
....Rather than keeping them as three tables in one database.
The reason I ask is that I have found that if I am using a ftp approach to
overwriting or updating the remote database there are sometimes problems
with synchronizing data .....This seems to be a better solution?

View Replies View RelatedI have a Access DB with two tables (Users and tblpersons). Users are stored in table Users and their records in tblpersons. They are able to login, Enter, Search, Update their data.
I want users to be able to Enter and update only their data not other users data.
Example:User_Id 1 when logged in, is able to enter data for any user(1,2,3......) and able to modify their data.
I can make a simple database file and name it database.mdb, all I need to do is name a single field email and save it. But I dont know how to make it so that my page will become active and the emails submitted will be saved either to the mdb file or a text file, im not sure what goes on there.
i have 2 tables and i only want the records where which arent in the one database eg.

out of these two tables i only want from table two idnum 5 and 6 cause they arnt in the 1st table.
They are on Windows 2000 IIS 5.0 and currently have an older version
of their job database using Access hosted on a Brinkster server.
The new server that they are on, when I contacted the host, they advised me
against creating any new applications using Access, as the server is not meant
for multi-users.
So, I am thinking that they need to get their host to upgrade to a SQL database
and have the job database developed using that.
My question to this forum is: What do you think is the best combination for
improvement here, SQL or MySQL or what, considering that their site is using asp
and hosted on Win2000 IIS 5.0?
Also, any recommendations on scripts that might be already available that could
be customised to their site?
What we have is our own (in house) Windows 2000 Server which runs MS SQL for our data storage and we have writen our own VB6.0 Application which runs of the SQL DB to manange our stock, ordering, price's etc etc. Also we have our own Website with a Web Hosting Company which is also a Windows 2000 Server but can only Run access databases.
What we what to do is somehow have the Access database and the SQL database sync together to have some of the same data in both database's. But I don't know where to start.

This is probably a stupid question (I'm good at those)...
I would like to enable a user to be able to browse to a picture on their local machine and upload that picture to a remote directory where it can then be displayed along with it's other pertinent data.
I thought it might be a good idea to use Front Page's "file upload" feature which includes a "browse" button and prompts me for a storing location - but I can't get it to work and am not even sure if that's its intended purpose.
So my question is two-part, what should my insert or update page look like regarding an upload process, and then how would I link to or display that picture?
I have some questions in a database, i showed in the web page, for each questions i gave 3 (Yes, No, Not Applicable) options via select - option. when i get the variable with select name, it is showing with comma.

Well Im finally getting how to do asp but I cannot seem to find where I import ms sql .sql files? I know in phpmyadmin there is a place to upload them but not anywhere in ms sql admin. Anyone know how to do this?
