I'm working with the Paypal shopping cart and there is an option to use Instant Payment notification (IPN) to automate your inventory when you get a sale.
Anyway...I need to take their POST info and re-POST it to their server for coinfirmation. I've found some COM objects to handle this sort of thing, but they usually want money. I haven't found any good tutorials explaining how to do an HTTP POST in an ASP page.
1) How can i develop a secure website in ASP?! Do i need to use just the SESSION variables?! Such that the security relies on these variables unless no one knows which variable names i am using?!
2) What is SSL?! How can i use it in an ASP website?!
i'm using windows XP, IIS 5.1, Visual .NET 2003 and SQL Server 2000.

Say two people are buying something at the same time, will those two transactions interfere with eachother? Do I have to do anything special to make sure they dont interfere?

I've seen more posts on a site dedicated to having sex with your keyboard, and trust me the forum on that site took me ages to setup.
Anyway, just a quick question. Does anyone use PayPal, specifically the IPN or PDT or whatever it's called. I get the general idea of what it's trying to do, i.e. you post to them, they post to you an encrypted code, you post it back and that gives you AUTHORISED, DECLINED etc.

I keep getting a callback error with my Cactushop software everytime a customer places an order. I am developing a web, that when the user fill all fields in the form, the system redirect it to a paypal payment system.
The code is:

This code runs if you copy and paste in your browser, but when i redirect it with de ASP object response.redirect is bad converted to the browser, and not go to the destination.
I already have the asp files coded,but when a user goes to submit payment I cant get my database to update. Im sure its an easy fix, but I cant seem to figure it out.I have attached the file that first submits to paypal, and then the IPN file.

We're trying to set up payment through PayPal for personalized items. PayPal only allows two options, and as we want to collect more than that, it won't work to use PayPal alone.
If we want to have the user select/type multiple options (about 10) for an item (eg, Person For, Person From, email, address, display option, etc, etc) and then pay for this using PayPal, how do we go about doing this?

IIS can handle security on its own without the need for complex scripting and i like the idea of being able to just let the system do it however im not sure how to set such things up and would that mean that if you used something like integrated windows authentication that security is delt with by windows and its users info rather than getting the info from a database of my choosing ?
the whole concept is quite confusing to me but there must be a simple ish way to set up at least some form of secure site area within my web.
I am starting to learn asp and I have IIS installed on my WIN xp pro machine. Do I have to worry about security for any reason at all. I don't believe I have file sharing on at all, then again, I don't know if that has anything to do with this.
How do I run security through all of the pages? The users log in, an asp checks their password, then what do I do to secure the pages from users that do not enter the password?

The username works in a mixed-mode of usernames matched with the windows login name and some extra accounts (similar to SQL mixed-mode security). Web application is executed both in the corporate intranet and externally on the web.
Getting user complaints about having to login to the web application when they have already logged-on to windows. I have coded a challenge/response (response.status=401) to get a user's window login through the ServerVariables. This seems to work OK for the intranet access. If the user's windows account is not located in the application database then I redirect to the standard login page for the username/password combination. When the application is executed across the internet through a firewall, the user is prompted by IE to enter the windows domain, username, and password. There seems to be no mechanism to avoid this because of the challenge/response code. I wish that with external access from the internet that users are automatically directed to the application login screen and not faced with the IE windows authentication dialog.
Does anyone know how to implement one way hashing or encryption using ASP 3.0 and no additional components.
I need to secure a intranet application which is being moved online, currently the passwords are stored in plain text, ideally id like to hash the passwords in the database and hash the form data when testing, but I don't seem to be able to find any hashing methods for standard ASP, perhaps someone has a nice code snippet for hashing.

I will implement a Username/Password scheme to restrict access to the facility, but since part of the facility will allow access to customer information I wondering if I should also look at a more secure protocol than simple HTTP.
