I know that MS have limited the form data size which about 100k however, I need submit a data that may be less or more than 100k, such as 500k.
I have found a code that using x-www-form-urlencoded
read the form data as binary code
than using ADODB.stream to convert back to string and display it out
but, that solution cannot handle chinese word, any idea on it?
I'm looking for a way to create over 100 Excel *charts* programmatically. We've just run a large online survey and the data is being fed back to us in a single spreadsheet - each respondent on a row and their dimensions (division, department, etc) and each of their responses in columns.
This data has to be sliced by a number of dimensions - this will require that just over 100 separate charts will have to be created. I'm looking for a way to create these charts in the most efficient way. I'm happy to normalise the data and load it into SQL Server, and can then easily extract each required subset. The output of the extract process will probably be spreadsheets in TSV format.
Last time I had to graphically report this sort of data I loaded it into a mart and used PivotCharts. The owners of they survey don't need the flexibility of Analysis Services so I'm happy to pre-define the charting requirements if it'll mean I'm able to create these charts automatically. Manipulating 100 PivotCharts was too much for them. Each chart will ultimately be fed back to users in a Word document or Powerpoint presentation with the appropriate analyses. Code:
My users have to select an value from a fixed selection of values. The obvious choice of control for such a requirement is to use a <select> (i.e. a combo box).
My problem is that sometimes, these combo boxes will have a *large* number of values. There could be any number of values in them from 5 to 5 million (unlikely it would be this large but possible).
Obviously 5 million is far too much to populate a <select> control with. Does anyone have any suggestion as to how a user could select a value from a *potentially* very large selection of values (i.e a suitable alternative to the <select> control)?
Can ASP retrieve UTF-8 encoded data in query string properly, when used with IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000 Pro/Server?
With some trial and error, it seems that adding the directive @CodePage = 65001 to an ASP page makes the ASP page decode UTF-8 data in query string properly. Without the directive, Request.QueryString(var) returns garbled data. With the directive, Request.QueryString(var) decodes UTF-8 encoded data properly. (I tried passing it to database with ADO; and VBScript function Len() also returned the correct string length. I passed UTF-8 encoded Chinese characters during my test.)
My search on the Web and newgroups, however, returned mostly results that say ASP does not support UTF-8 encoded data in query string. One of the search results is http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pr...y/interasp.mspx. It was written in March 2000. Could things have changed since then?
Can anyone share their views and experience on this matter? Is the @CodePage directive all that's needed to handle UTF-8 encoded data in QueryString?
I want to count number of data available depending upon the conditions in the large database the database table rows are approximately 3 lakhs and there are multiple table to be searched and records need to be displayed in ASP pages.
Kindly suggest the best scripting method as i am always getting error like "Script Time Out" Error in Active Server Pages (ASP)
please suggest how to avoid or in sql server i can create some pre defined script and just call from asp pages
Event Type:Error Event Source:Active Server Pages Event Category:None Event ID:5 Date:2007/03/09 Time:11:50:48 AM User:N/A Computer:ZEUS Description: Error: File /index.asp Data size too large. Size of data being sent in the request is over the allowed limit.. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
The problem is that when I get this error, all websites in IIS6 become completely unresponsive, and I have to run an iisreset.
We are using Windows Server 2003 along with IIS 6. When trying to browse to an ASP page, the following error is returned:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0107' Data size too large.
Size of data being sent in the request is over the allowed limit. the asp page in question is about 5 KB in size and we also increased the size of the AspBufferingLImit setting in Metabase.xml to over 16MB to no avail.
Similar ASP pages are all working, it is only this one, and there is nothing special or different about this one.
If I use a form to pass data (say, for example, through a textbox) the data seems to be limited to somewhat smaller amounts. What should I do if I want to pass a large amount of data? For example a list of 200 items?
I am using couple of dropdowns on a form which pulls data from one of our tables.
The data list is quite large (500+) and it takes users a lot of time to find the correct item. Users are getting quite frustrated using the dropdowns as they have to scroll for a long time.
Does anybody have a nice method of forcing a user to enter a value into a form using asp?
I think the best is to have a popup when they hit submit that will stay on the same page and then just alert the user to enter something in so and so text box.
I have a form that has the option to upload a file at the bottom. If you select a file it works fine but if you leave file selection blank the forms bombs. This is not how I want it to work. On the form you need to use ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" in the form tag.
On the processing page I need to use Set to assign a variable to the form data. I tried using IF on the variable assigned to the file path but it bombs out telling me "This function is not supported". Is there any other way I can check to see if curQes has a value assigned to it?
I have a web page that submits a form to a database. Each time a form is submitted, I need to assign it a unique case number and insert the case number into the database along with the information entered in the form.
I am able to insert all the data into the database, but am not sure how to generate the case number to insert. Is there a way to do this based on number from the previous entry, like just add 1 to it?
I'm using the script below to limit a visitor at my site to only be able to post a form 5 times. I believe the reason I've received more e-mails is because the visitor closes their browser then opens a new one and they can post two times each time they do this.
<% count = Request("count") if count = "" Then count = 0 Else count = count + 1 End If %>
<% If count < 5 Then %> <a name="step5"></a><input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"> <% Else %> This form has been submitted 5 times. Please contact me for more information.
Can somebody show me how I can do this so it will only work twice within a 24 hour period even if the visitor closes their browser and opens a new one? I would think cookies be the answer to this but what happens if the visitor has cookies turned off? If this would be a good solution can somebody please help me out? I'm not familiar with cookies.
I have a text field in a web page I am working on that seems to be calculating phone numbers before inserting them into an Access database. i.e., 867-5309 will result as -4442 in the Access text field. My guess is that the webserver or client is processing it before inserting it. Is there any way to stop this other than using a validation script?
I have some ASP server-side code that works perfectly when the client is running on Windows (IE, Netscape, Firefox, etc.) but doesn't work at all when the client is running on Macintosh (IE, Omniweb, Safari, etc.) This is the client-side Javascript code:
I have a series a forms that submit data to different tables in a database. As it stands, when a user completes FORM 1 and clicks the SUBMIT button, the FORM 1 data is submitted (action = form2.asp, method = post) to ASP code at the top of FORM 2 (request.form("form1 field name") etc...), and submitted to the database with SQL code, also at the top of FORM 2(INSERT into...). Hence the submit button on FORM 1 directs the user to FORM 2, and submits the data which is exaclty what I wanted. However, I now need the users to submit multiple sets of data with FORM 1, and direct them to FORM 2 once they have finished using FORM 1. Most importantly, I need to pass a few parameters from FORM 1 to FORM 2, and have these parameters submitted to the database.
My main problem is getting a fresh form1 after submiting the same form1, in preparation for anoter set of data using the same form. Basically, the database has 'one to many' relationship tables. Form1 and form2 are both populating the 'many' tables, so that each form needs to be filled-in several times while retaining the key field of the 'one' table. At the moment submiting form1 takes me to form2. Is is possible to submit the data to the database, get form1 back again to submit more data, as many times as required, then click another button to load form2 when the user is finished with form1?
Can anyone please give me some pointers? or at least explain the concept of what I need to do. I am a novice and it's taking me a while to get to this stage. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to post FORM1 to itself and insert the data (i.e. place the request.form at the top of FORM 1) If so, how do I direct users to FORM 2 while retaining my parameters?
I am a new programmer seeking a right way for transferring data between forum to forum, as i am creating a site wich have a page keeping 20's of server controls like drop down list and text boxes the value of ddl2 changging on change of ddl1 and displaying its corresponding value in text box and i have 10 rows in this way and i wanna display all selected values of server controls in next page as report.
I am trying to create a form where the user can check a box within a form and the address will fill in automatically from a previous address in the form, without submitting the form.
I need to get some Request value from a Form... but this form is enctype="multipart/form-data" (to upload files) and I if I use the standard syntax Request("nameField") I don't get any value.
I want to set up a simple database for my mom to enter her recipes into. I am going to use Access and ASP. In the database, I will have five fields (Recipe_ID, Recipe_Title, Recipe_Ingredients, Recipe_Instructions, and Recipe_Image). When my mom goes to enter a recipe, I want to ask the form to ask my mom how many Ingredients?
She will then specify "n" number of ingredients which will cause the page to display "n" number of text boxes. I can figure this part out myself. When the form is submitted, I want a script that will read and concatenate the ingredients, wrapping <li> tags around each one. The challenge for me is the reading of an undetermined number of form elements?
I am trying to create a popup page to print little cards to Avery labels. I can get the page to work out but it always prints the margins to far over so it doesn't fit in the cells. I was wondering if any one new any resources to give details on how to accomplish this or of another method?I have also tried creating a dynamic word doc but then the user could change the text values which wouldn't work.
I have a page with multiple SSI to content that is managed by other people in the organization. However, occassionally, one of the content managers accidently deletes a file or messes it up, which throws an .ASP error for the whole page. This is not good. I need to display the page, even if some of the include links are broken. I tried using: Code:

i'm about to built a budget DB driven site for someone. access is the cheapest option for me, as my host charges for mysql, plus i aint used it before! [:I]

I've tried inserting this code, but it doen't work. I guess it must be something to do with the byVal keyword used in the constructor for the function?
Code: 'Handle a Null date If (strDate = "" ) Or (Len(strDate) < 1) Or (strDate = Null) Then
I created a web site for a local government office to handle their procurement. When the city modifies a solicitation, all of the respondants need to be notified. Unfortunately, the city wants the email sent to each respondant to be individualized, so I can't just CC or BCC it to several hundred email addresses.
After about 200 emails, the server usually times out. The city is hosting with Verio and Verio won't change the timeout values since it's "virtually hosted". Is there a way to spawn a background task to send the emails? If not, what's the best method for batch send?
How do i handle a subtraction between 2 entries in a table? they each belong to 2 tables. my code is below. I wish to subtract ordereditems_quantity from product_stock but i have no idea how to do it in asp. pls advise.
I know a few ways to handle an apostrophe, but am at a loss for which i should use for this. The ways I know how to deal with it are.
alias = Replace(Request.form("alias"), "'", "''") alias = Replace(Request.form("alias"), "'", " & #39; ")
The name of the field is self explanitory. When the admin searches for a person using the "'" , " ' ' " method they find the user. But when ever we display that info anyware it has the O''conner setup. Code:
