I'm so full of questions these days. I've got a hidden input in a form that I want to be set to 1 more than the highest number in the colum "userid" of my table "users" in my database.
I have created a form which asks the user a series of questions. I am able to retrieve the information from the database but I need to know how many rows of data has been entered for each question.
For example I have a question which asks the user what age range they belong to. I need to find out how many rows of data has been added into this column in the database. Code:

I've got a database that has 5 numeric values for each record. I'm trying to figure out how to have the records sorted alphabetically, but highlight the highest value in the table for each column. So in other words, the table shows up with one record in each row, with a total of 6 columns (the name plus 5 columns). I want the highest value in each column to be emphasized.
So the final product would end up looking like the code at the bottom of this message.
I've pulled the records from the Access database and am able to sort them alphabetically and get the table to appear. What I was thinking is that at the top I'd define variables that correspond to the highest record for each column. Then in the table code I'd set the colour of each cell using an 'if then'.
So I have 3 specific questions:
- Is that the best way to do it? I don't want the page to take 20 minutes to load because I'm overloading the server.
- how would you set the variables at the top of the page?
- how would you write the if then in the middle of the table to change the background colour of the cell if that value (or values, in case there's a tie) is the highest of all the records? Code:
I have multiple fields (BLM, WHM, RNG, MNK) each with a numeric value. How can I search across these fields for each record and find the highest number.
Example:
Name BLM WHM RNG MNK ---------------------------------- Jason 19 52 33 18
What I want it to do is return and display Jason WHM 52
And I want to do this for every record in the table.
I need to insert some number into database as text. My problem is if I insert the number (ie. 4.0), the value in the database only show (4). So, is it possible to convert a real number into text number using ASP?
in master batch table i have various master batch like 200701-0001 200701-0002 200701-0003
Now each master batch can have multiple final mixed batch like
200701-0001-01 200701-0001-02 200701-0001-03
and this record is inserted in to fmix table.
so i have a form in which i have a dropdown menu in which all the master batch is listed, i select 200701-0001 and that value is passed to next page where i will enter other fields data and insertion to my fmix_no will be done automatic like 200701-0001-01, 200701-0001-02 and so on,
how to achieve this
so in short each master batch will have more than one final mixed batch.

I want To handel the error messages by myself in one part in my script. I know that in VB I can Use the statment - On error resume next And I also know that I can retrive the Error Number In VB with Err.Number.

Ok let me explain what I am trying to do as easily as I can. I have a table in my access database that I am connecting to. I select a specific id number using my SQL statement. Now what I am trying to do is scroll through that records row and get the column name of that column along with the value of that cell. I hope that isn't to confusing. How do you get the description of fields in an Access database? I really need this and can't find it anywhere.... It would also help if someone showed me how to get the datatype and other info (like if it's a Yes/no or True/False field). What is the resource/doc for this so I know where to look before asking from now on?

I need to set up an HTML table or the like, with 4 columns. Each column needs to have a header with a FRIDAY (dd/mm/yy) date. i.e. this weeks Fridays date is 16th Feb, the following is 23rd Feb etc. So, I need column 1 to be headed 16th Feb, col 2 to show 23rd Feb etc. As this week passes, the dates need to move up 1 week, so that next week, col 1 will display 23rd Feb and so on. These headers need to change according to the date. Please can you advise how I best achieve this ?
we have a requirement to freeze the column and row column heading... so that when the user scrolls to the right the first two columns ( I refer them as "row headings") will stay and the remaining columns scroll left and when the user scrolls to the bottom the first row stays ("column headings")and the remaining rows will scroll up.. I have an asp page which the user enters a time(e.g. 12:21). I need to insert this time into a SQL Server DB, which has a smalldatetime column.
I have tried everything I can think of (such as CDate, TimeValue, FormatDateTime etc) to convert the time string, into a valid time. However, the insert always try to insert a datetime datatype (e.g. 12/12/1899 12:21:00).

There is no other information to display and it would be better if I could display 3 or 4 columns on the page like a phone book. Hope that makes sense. I am using Dreamweaver and it's and Access db if that helps.

I am trying to create a report in xls format using ASP. I need to do some formatting to the report. To do this, I'm using xml. But, somehow, I cannot get the columns to autofit causing the report not to print in one page. What am I missing?
