Highlight Search Keywords On HTML Page
I have an ASP search function which, after typing the search term, searches HTML pages and creates a list of links.
The problem is that I do not know how to code so the search term is highlighted in red after the user clicks on the link to view the HTML page.

I currently have a working search w/highlighted results page. My problem is that there is HTML stored in the text that is being searched and whenever the searched keyword is within HTML, it throws off the rest of the page.
I would happily throw away my code and use another if I could get it to check for things like <> and avoid breaking them. Ideally what I tried to do was display approximatly 10 words on either side of the highlighted keyword, just to give it some context, but I have thus far failed to get this to work properly.

I have a little function to highlight text if it exists.
Function Highlight(vFind, vSearch)
Dim RegEx
Set RegEx = New RegExp
RegEx.Pattern = vFind
RegEx.IgnoreCase = True
Highlight = RegEx.Replace(vSearch, "<span class=""Highlight"">" & vFind &
"</span>")
Set RegEx = Nothing
End Function
The only problem is, that if I search for "something", "something" appears
highlighted when the string being searched actually contained "Something".
This is not about case sensitive searching, this is about showing the actual
match rather than what was being searched for. Code:

I've taken over maintenance of a website running on NT 4, IIS with ASP pages and an MS Access database, but I don't have much experience with this platform. I've got the ASP down pretty well and know SQL, but am having a problem figuring out how to get data for the main page.
On the main page (default.html) I want to display a random business from our database of businesses. Since it's a .html page how can I run server-side code to run the query and select the business? Am I stuck with CGI or is there some other way to do this? I don't want to redirect from the main page to another page, either.

that all information in the table are in <tb></tb> pairs without any
name tag. Any idea?

I want to search a string of HTML and insert a querystring into any url where the url is an asp page and is either a local link /folder/page.asp or of a specific domain http://www.somedomain.com/folder/page.asp. It needs to be able to handle plain links and those with querystrings already in there.
I could do it with instr functions etc but I thought this might a good time to brush up on regular expressions. Can anyone point me in the right dirction?

I've created a little search engine that works fine, but I want to highlight the keywords in an article.
Using the replace function is OK, but its not very good when covering different cases. Its fine on single word searches but no good with multiple words.
eg. if I search for "dog", I can do a replacement on "dog", "DOG" and "Dog" using the replace function.
If I was to search for "black dog", I need to cover all possible variants. ("Black Dog", "BLACK DOG", "black dog", "Black dog", "black Dog")
Is there any way of getting this to work?

Im trying to create a function to where when I call the function, it returns the next keyword from the list, and the list is only a string of keywords split by comma's. I know how to split it, but I dont know how to have the function call out the next keyword.
keyword1,keyword2,keyword3,keyword4.Code:
<%=Function1(keyword)%> 'Will spit out Keyword 1
<%=Function1(keyword)%> 'Will spit out Keyword 2
<%=Function1(keyword)%> 'Will spit out Keyword 3
<%=Function1(keyword)%> 'Will spit out Keyword 4
Then I need it to start over again once it gets to the last function.
This function will be spread out across the page.

Does anyone have a definitive list of keywords to avoid or prohibit as field names for the tables for an ASP driven program that communicates with a SQL database?
I have a website that allows customers to define tables online and I keep hitting the field names I need to prohibit - "Function" is the latest one. I'd like to just compare the users field names with a list and end this problem for good! Also any VBScript words too?

I have a web form page that passes values to an asp page, in which an email is sent to the customer with those values. The email functionality works fine. But I also want to display these values on a separate "thank you" web page after that.
What is the code to make those values display in the "thank you" web page? Does this involve adding code to the asp page and the "thank you" html page as well?

We are building an application with ASP/SQL Server and need to build a
search page. I want to display lots of fields/textboxes on the search page
to allow user to search any field by entering the search terms in any of the
textboxes.
I was thinking of using lots of if conditions to build the search string
something like
strSQL = "Select <<fieldnames>> from Contracts where Active= True "
if request.form("contractno") <> "" then
strSQL = strSQL & " and contractno ='" & request.form("contractno")
& "'"
end if
Does anyone know of a better way to build the SQL string. Also any methods
to speed up the query built will be much appreciated. I have already limited
the total results that the query displays but adding " Top 20 " in the SQL
string. Any other suggestions?
