I have a simple script which boiled down to highlighting search terms... Code:

this worked fine, however if the string I was searching was within an <a> tag, the inevitable would happen and an error would come up. I was wondering if anyone knows a way or if there is a script readily available to tackle this issue?
Im searching a database and pulling through results based on user input with a like statement as the address have multiple words but the problem is i want the search only to be in whole words and not part of another word for example User searches road

Does anyone use a funtion to highlight search terms (if they have a search facility on their site). Basically, I would be sending the search terms from a form field into a results page.
If there are results I would like the search terms to be highlighted. One problem that I could think while using "replace" is that capitalisation would not be maintained.
i am developing a search engine(ASP with SQL SERVER) for my project . My objective is to search for a data and it should display the result and highlighting the search text in different color. But when i use the search text with more than one word, the result is highlighting only the last word of the search text.
Example - If i search for "Opal" , the search result highlighting all the words with "opal", But when is search "Opal Service", the search result is highlighting only the "service".
Here the "Opal" and "service" are different identities, i will search these two words with AND condition . Code:
I have to put some terms and conditions on my commercial site which vendors have to accept before going into site. My query is in practice how you people do it? I mean do you store these information in database ,or do you keep time stamping in database,or just force users to read and accept it without saving . I've created a little search engine that works fine, but I want to highlight the keywords in an article. Using the replace function is OK, but its not very good when covering different cases. Its fine on single word searches but no good with multiple words. eg. if I search for "dog", I can do a replacement on "dog", "DOG" and "Dog" using the replace function. If I was to search for "black dog", I need to cover all possible variants. ("Black Dog", "BLACK DOG", "black dog", "Black dog", "black Dog") Is there any way of getting this to work?
Ive created a web page that queries a db and i have that all working fine. What i dont have though and would like to be able to do is get the page to highlight rows according to one colums value, ie

The very same page has 2 iFrames opening another page called tripledemoduo.asp. So there are 2 tripledemoduo.asp's opening within the 2 iFrames. Within a tripledemoduo.asp page there are the textboxes for inserting the keywords. See the picture.
is it possible to move out the 6 textboxes from the iFrames and make 1 set of 6 instead of 2 sets of 6? That would make my life easier because I use this to compare two texts side by side by searching keywords. For example I put one keyword in red in both iFrames.

I am trying to create a parametric search within a table (in the column headings). My first page (search.asp) allows you to choose parameters from a dropdown box, such as package and volts. You click "search" and it reads the Access dbase to yield the results.

I have a search page that has ms frontpage database wizard results showing. The thing is, is that I want to have the search form on other pages besides my search.asp page. Does anybody know how to make a search form on a seperate page that submits the search to the database and displays the wizard results on the search page.
How could I try and make the most important result from a search show up on top? I was thinking of having a result where the strSearch is the most to the left come up on top but else then that vague and not necessarly effective option I have no idea on how to do this.
Intranet tech support system using ASP/VBScript running on W2000 Server, IIS, and using SQL Server 2000. I need to add a search engine. The problem with using a regular SQL query is that if you put a phrase, say "red car" in the text box, to hit submit, my SQL qurey would only look for that phrase, and would leave out other items where the words red and car appeared separately. I guess what I am saying is that I would like something like Google or other search engines, which would find results which seem to fit the criteria typed into the box, and rank them and highlight key words. My research so far has shown me that SQL Server has something called Full-Text searching, and I have tried to read up on that in BOL, but not really seeing how I can apply it. I wonder if there's already some tutorials or sample code out there. I have done some looking on the Web, but still haven't found much.

I am trying to set up a pge that allows users to search DB for their order status. I managed to get it working with 1 search parameter. I would like to give my clients more then 1 search option to search by.

I am relatively new to asp so still need help on it. On my site I have a search that allows users to search for a specific job skill ie.cobol, asp etc
The problem is that at the moment the search can only search for what is exactly typed in the box eg.
"ASP" this search works fine, "ASP, HTML" this doesnt because It searches for what is typed in. I have been told It is something to do with parsing and that this will allow me to search for multiple job skills using commas to split what is typed in. If any body has any ideas I will be very greatfull
