How To Display Images Using Files Form Web Server?
I am trying to build a simple image gallery, that displays image form the files on web server and displays it on webpage.
I tried, but it gives an error:
Quote: Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0113 (0x80004005)
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.
just manged to get an image retireval search engine working. The ASP script works fine, my query results are filepaths of images.
i structured a query in within asp to obtain images which have similar textual values. It is more of a cosmetic issue. when i get my query results back, my script prints or displays the images from top to bottom. which means i have to scroll vertically up and down the asp page over 10-30 images. Code:
Other than creating a custom component or purchasing one, isn't there any other way by which users can upload images/files from their local machines/hard disks to a remote server? Doesn't ASP have any in-built component to do so?
If that's indeed the case, can someone suggest any free components (not trial ones) which can be used to upload images/files from users' local machines/hard disks to a server?
I am trying to upload large images ( around 4 mb) from the server to show on the client. Currently I'm using an http handler to do it and breaking it into chunks sending it 1 mb at a time. Sometimes I'm getting errors, like the page won't load. Any solutions on how this is done right?

I am trying to retrieve images from the database and display them in a random order. The order of the images is supposed to change each time page is refreshed. Below is my code, I am using an array to store the images but the images are not displayed for some reason. Code:
In the site we want to display the vehicle (obviously) and then a list (graphically) of the features that vehicle has, ie, air con, electric windows, abs, etc. I have attached examples of the images that should be displayed.
The images are kept in a separate folder on the website and they are 'called for' from an access database where the filed name (image id) has a check box.Currently we are only getting a TRUE response and the image is not being displayed. We are looking for some help in how to develop this and get only the image displayed if the check box is ticked on the database.
anyone know of an application that integrates with Dreamweaver to allow me to work with blob images from a SQL database and put them in an ASP.NET page?
I am creating a form with checkboxes that contains in the value property, the ID of the image. The filename of the image displayed above the checkbox along with the image.
On that page, I am storing the "checked" information in a cookie. When the user clicks submit, I need to retrieve the actual image that they selected on the previous page and display it along with the image name which I get from the value property.
Right now the only data being passed is the value in the checkbox input tage which is a text string and not the actual image. How do I retrieve the images my users checks off. I hope this make sense. Sort of like a shopping cart, but I only want to be able to select images and post back the ones selected.
The idea is security (the companyN folders store images belonging to the companies 1,2,3 - and never the twain shall meet - this does not matter so much). The images are stored above MySite (in the imageroot folder) so that no-one can see them - if they sat in mysiteimages, for example, anyone can see them. And to further thre security, /imageroot does not have a URL
What I need is someway that I can display an image in imageroot on a page in MySite, eg /mysite/gallery.
I need to use an absolute path from my page in mysite to the required image

i have a folder "uploads" with text documents in it. how can i display the names of the files as links so that the user can view the page and see all the links and when clicked on the link the text file will open.
I have an application that needs to pull files from an internal server. This is the setup. The web server is external facing, meaning exposed to the internet. I then have a file server that sits inside our domain. I created a COM object that can impersonate a user to retrieve files from that server. However, I cannot get the application to pull files from the internal server.
I first tried a domain account that could reach both servers. This did not work. I then had the network team create the same account on both machines. This is not working either. I can impersonate the user (I am able to get the user/users authenticated), but the script keeps coming back with and access denied. Code:
My content managed site allows users to add images to their account. Oringinally I was gonna store these in Access. However I have got a script which will let my users upload their images to the server.
The problem is how do I make sure images being uploaded don't affect others i.e. two users upload an image called photo.jpg, only one can exist in the same folder, right?
Do I then need to consider having a script which creates a folder based on the username?
i m creating a site using asp in which i will collect user details, means their names, address, other information along with their pictures, so please can any one help me by telling how can i strore pictures in sql sever using asp. in very long detail. and how can i retrieve snaps from data base to display on the pages.
I have an application (VB.Net2) which takes an image (JPEG) file and resizes it.
I have tested this application by putting it into a local version of my website (which also contains local copy of my image library) hosted on my PC. The images shown on the web pages are crisp and clear.
But when I put this same version of the website (including image library) onto my remote webserver, the images shown on the served web pages are markedly pixallated (even in areas that are normally flat colour). I have downloaed the images from the image library to check them on my PC and they are fine.
Why should the website produce crsip/clear images when hosted locally yet grainy/pixallated images when hosted on a remote web server?
With the website i'm developing, the user can upload images and the filename is saved to a mysql db, the problem is displaying these images. If i use the servers local path i.e. "C:InetpubwwwrootIMGimage.jpg" then the page just displays the little box with a square, circle and triangle in it, that usually displays while an image is loading. If i use "http://localhost/IMG/image.jpg" then when i load the page i get the "connect to the server:type name & password" box popping up...
I've set the permissions so that an Internet guest has read & write permissions to the IMG folder so I don't understand why it's not just displaying the images.
My host offers the 'Persists ASP-Upload' component, but not the 'ASP-Jpeg' component. I can therefore allow users to upload images which can then be saved on the server.
What I need to do however, is resize their images before they are saved, so that their pixel dimensions are correct. Is there a way to do this without having the ASP-Jpeg (or similar) component installed on the server?
1) I need to build an admin page that allows me to browse to the file that I want stored in SQL Server 2000 in an image field, have it uploaded to the server, and then stored in the db. I see this done all the time, so I don't think this part is too hard, but I'm not sure how to get the image into the db.
2) I want to display the image within a web page, so I would want to pull the image out of the db, place it on my web server in a certain location, and then reference the file in the HTML. How do I do that?
if there's a way to copy image files from one server to another using ASP and FSO? Or perhaps some other way to do it? I'm trying to collect information on books, and want to have a picture of the book associated with the description, but I want to be nice and host the pictures myself, not just link to other people's pictures. Is there a way to do this?
