I am creating a "Send this webpage to a friend" page. Instead of using multiple pages to accomplish this, I'd like to use just one. The page is constructed like this:
<%
Verify that name, emailaddress and other fields have been entered.
If Entered, then send email.
%>
<Form>
inputboxes, etc.
</Form>
Question:
How can I prevent the ASP from running when the page loads initially when obviously the user hasn't had a chance to enter in any data?

I've got a form that is activated by an external .asp page. I've finally got the validation of the form working, the javascript alert pops-up and correctly identifies the mistakes, but when I click OK on the js pop-up, the form submits and I get a data mismatch error.
I can't seem to figure out how to get the form to wait for the right data... Code:

I have a project where i have to use an html asp application form to insert records into an sql database. My problem is finding resources online to practice with to learn, i have basic knowledge of ASP and have attended the microsoft 1 week course on Administering a 2000 SQL Database and i have designed a few small sites so i know html and javascript. I have the database side covered its just the VB code to take the form values and post them to the sql database.
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of sample codes to play around with as i cant seem to find any which relate to this project.

I'm trying to insert mutiple records into my database when the form is submitted.. My form has 4 textfields; serial1, price1, serial2 and price2.
I would like to insert serial1 and price1 as one record, then serial2 and price2 as the second record. I know some sort of loop has to be used to achieve this but i'm new to this and I don't know what to do...
I tried to do it with dreamweaver but it does not seem possible and the dreamweaver code seems really complicated I've only been able to insert only the first row(serial1,price1).. since I only have 2 fixed rows I guess what I need to do is to get dreamweaver to do it twice in a loop. Code:

Except for extremely basic ASP programming that I did two years ago and have forgotten I have not touched coding since!
I've taken a look at a couple of tutorials but they all baffle me!
Can anyone tell me how I can just create a simple html form with input fields of FirstName, LastName, Email and Phone amd when the user hits submit it is recorded in an access database?
I can do the HTML part fine. And I believe I've set up access ok although Ive never used it before.
Also, if the server that the database will go on is a Microsoft one i suspect that is ok? Im not sure if all i have to do is upload the database and it will work? or do i need to talk to my hosting company to set up some kind of odbc thing that ive heard about?
My database will just be called clients.mdb and the table is called Customers.

I have an ASP form that has a field that automatically places the current date into it. It uses the function Date().
The problem I am having is when the form is submitted into my Access database the date is coming out wrong in the Access field. The datatype for the field is Date/Time but it still is not coming out right.
Example: the date in the ASP form shows as 12/19/2006 and the entry in the Access form shows 12:00:27 AM. If I change the format of the Date/Time field to Short Date, the result is: 12/30/1899.
Does anyone know how I can get the data that is posted to the Access database to come out the same as the ASP form?

I have an Access application which need to be converted to asp-sql server
application. This Access application uses a single form. This form has got a
SS number with names and age.
The form has two subforms. One of the subform
uses a physical test score which is basically four different fields while the
other subform is one that has a written test score with three fields. Entry
to both physical and written scores are done through this form. Both the
forms can have multiple entries to make sure we are tracking historical
scores.
The relationship between the ssn table and the physical test score
table is 1: n while that between ssn table and the written score table is 1:
n. With this scenario what is the best way to design form in asp pages?

I have created a form with simple fields such as address and phone number. I would like to, in real time, take the value a person puts in for name (ex. John Smith), check a database to see if he is there, then to populate his address fields and phone number to save the user the trouble of typing it in repeatedly.
Any ideas how to go about this? I created a button for the user to "look up" to see if his info is saved but cant seem to get the syntax write. I have written similar code for the information to be put in the database, and it works, just need to retreive it while the user is on the form.

I have about 30 names of workers (and their IDs in hidden fields, that depend on their departments) in one form, beside them there is one dropdown list for each worker, with same items. I want to select item from dropdown list for each worker, that will write item ID in another hidden field... and then I want to submit worker's ID, ID from dropdown list etc....into another .asp page and sql db.
If I use next way :
<%
FOR EACH name IN Request.Form
Response.Write("<BR>")
Response.Write(Request.Form(name))
NEXT
%>
I get only values of IDs from dropdown lists. But I need workers' IDs, too.

Is it so, that when I do an Insert statement, the request.form - variables get erased or so? I don't manage to get the email working. It inserts the info ok, but when coming to the sendmail.asp page, I try to refernence the different form fields, and they all appear empty.

Is there any way to use asp to determine a users SQL Server database access rights.
I.e I have given a users data read only/ data write only in SQL server, how can I pick that up in an application so that only write only users can see a hyper link.
I know I could create a few more pages with a table in a database with various rights but I just want to read rights directly allocated from SQL Server.
