View Replies View RelatedI have a form where the user selects their EmployeeID from a DB populated dropdown list. Then they fill out some other information and submit the form. I would like to make it possible that when the user selects their EID, other DB information tied to that EID is displayed on that page (Name, Phone #, etc), so that when the EID is selected, the employee can see their name and info, before the form is submitted.
Is it possible for JS/DHTML to show which value is selected (without posting the form) and then use that variable to call the additional information from my DB using SQL? I would probably then show that value using <div> or something.
Sorry, I am familiar with ASP/VBScript & SQL, but I don't know a ton about Javascript. And I don't think what I want to do is possible with only ASP, unless I post my form to another page, and then that page post the final submission for the form... I'd rather keep everything on one page, then submit the form.

I have JavaScript that populates the lstSelected when items are clicked on from the lstAvailable list box.
When the user presses the Submit button, a 2nd ASP page actually does the insert. My problem is that I do not know how to retrieve the value from the 2nd list box (lstSelected) from the 2nd ASP page. I need to do an insert for each item in the selected list box.
I have tried using Request.Form(“lstSelected”) but that did not work. I also tried a For next loop but I could not get that to work either.
Can someone help me figure out how to loop through all values in the lstSelected list box from the 2nd ASP page?

I have a Select List box which displays values based on what value is selected in a dropdown list. For example, my dropdown list contains a class name, and the Select list contains all of the students who are registered for that class.
So what I would like to occur, is when the user changes the class from the dropdown box, the Select List is re-created displaying the students who are enrolled in that class.

I had used "ActiveSheet.Range("GB" & k).Value" command to read the values from the excel.some cells in the excel sheet is having two lines value and four lines data, the text file is generating that value in a single line. (Ex. the cell value in address column is in four lines and should display in four lines in the text file generated from the macro)
Can i do something in the excel sheet or in vb script to read the address value line by line and write line by line in text file?
I want to have a page that has several links on it, each link will do a different search on a database. Now I know how I can achieve this using different pages. (a.asp b.asp c.asp etc etc for example) however i've noticed a lot of webpage that just use one search.asp page and then the id changes for example the address will be search.asp?id=1 for example, hope this makes sense.

I am using a <textarea> to display the code but some of my scripts have <textarea> tags in them and when the </textarea> tag is entered, it closes my <textarea> and the rest of the code ends up outside of the textarea.

I have a dbase containing login details for 21,000 members. I also have a
forum that I am about to implement.
When the user gets to the main site, he has to login (this is done by
checking his credentials against DB1) When he is logged in, all his details
are stored in session variables. Clicking on the forum link will take him to
the forum where he has to log-in or register. Currently, the forum checks
cookies to see if there is a valid name and password and then checks these
against it's own DB (herein called DB2) or requires the user to
login/register
I plan to modify the forum so that the login is bypassed and the forum
accepts the current session name and password as the login. (This is so that
all names on the site main site, chat, forum etc are uniform, i.e Dave47 in
a chat room, is Dave47 in the forum, is Dave47 in the members area etc)
so...what I need to do (if you're still with me) is.
When a new user registers on the main site, his details are put into DB1
*and* DB2. , can I have two data sources open at once?
The reason I need two DBs is that the information in DB1 is a lot less than
is needed by the forum in DB2.
Also how can I copy selected fields from DB1 (name, password for existing
users) into DB2? like I said..there's 21,000 and to do it manually would
take forever.
I have an encrypted .txt file created by asp. Its formatted with lines etc. Title followed by description underneath. I need to read this into ASP now, and parse it line by line. On each line read, run the function to unencrpt and add line to a new file.
Its the line by line Im having trouble with. If i do the full textstream no formatting takes place coz im adding the fulltextstream all in one addline call. How can I loop through lines ?
