How To Tell What Type Of Server A Site Is Running On

if there are any disadvantages for running my whole site on SSL server (i.e All pages would run on SSL after the user logs in to their account).PS: The service I provide on my site doesn't require users to login everyday to their account. So I don't expect that heavy load.
View Replies View RelatedI work for a security system company. I'm in the installation department. One of the things we do is go to our monitoring service's website and check the signals to see if we got all of the signals for a particular alarm system.
Unfortunately, that means refreshing the page alot.
So, I started off using an iframe page to refresh the content i wanted. the only problem was that the urls i used to login and set the customer ID would go to another page.
So I tried to create a frameset document. However, the .asp pages completely ignored the frameset information. Code:
I am to build a site onto an ASP server. Anyone here used Dreamweaver and is it just a simple matter of opening up a new ASP page in Dreamweaver and build the site like you would normally do with a HTML page and it will handle the ASP coding accordingly and you can just simply upload it onto an ASP server and it will work?
The site I am to build is basically just a standard html website, but my friend wants me to build it for an ASP server so he has asked me to make sure it is an asp site so I am presuming with the extension .asp
If I build it as a html site to begin with, will converting it to asp be hard. Could I just export my pages into asp or is there more to it?
Can a Html website be loaded and working on an asp server or host?
Is it possible to have a site mixed both html and asp, eg. the home page is html and when you click on shopping cart on the home page it goes to a hopping cart page thats .asp or do they all have to have the same extension.
I have just moved a project to my laptop and get the message "Visual Studio..NET has detected that the specified Web server is not running ASP.NET v1.1.You will be unable to run ASP.NET Web applications or services"
Presumably there is a d/l on MSDN to rectify this, but I can't find it. Does anyone know the URL?
Does ASP automatically run at the server or is it like .net and you have to tell it too.

View Replies View Relatedi have a VB desktop app, that utilizes T SQL to communicate with my backend db.
It sends encrypted data which calls a web page that parses the file and inserts into a table.
I would like to add additional functionality e.g
For my server to be able to do a post the received contents, stored in the database to my sms provider.
I already have implemented a web page script that uses XML to post, web pages, but would like to implement another process for the desktop apps Could this be achieved and how ?
My website connects to a remote sql server. Application works fine when I run from Visual Studio. But when I run the site from IIS, it shows an error.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Our inter/intranet server has just been upgraded to Windows Serve
2003, IIS6, running Sharepoint.
I cannot now run even a "Hello World" ASP (not aspx/.net) script
although static html displays fine.
We have enabled ASP in IIS/Web Service Extensions but still nothing.
There is no error msg, scripts just do not run. Are there furthe
switches in Sharepoint or IIS that I need to know about ??
Have MS 2003 server with IIS 6.0 installed. ASP.net is also installed.
Had to re-install the server after initial configuration by someone who left
the company and now I cannot get the ASP pages to load.
The files all existed in a NON-INETPUB folder and accessed a SQL database to
pull information.
I get a 500 error when trying to access http://localhost.
I set the home directory to the default web site to point to my folder
contain my default.asp page, but it does not work. Code:
im trying to run a bat file on windows server 2003 and am running into nothing but problems.
i have IIS on my XP workstation that accesses the 2003 server. what im about to explain below works properly on the XP IIs.
i have two files: somefile.asp and somefile.bat. the asp file creates a wscript.shell and then tries to execute the run method for somefile.bat.
however, it isnt working. after an unexaggerated 7 hours of searching google/etc, i have found nothing but frustration and deep, seething anger regarding this problem. Code:
I am attempting to have an asp page call a batch file. I had it working, I was high on life and then I decided to log off the server. Once I did, the code would no longer work. When I logged back onto the server, I saw:
'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.'
Now before I get the usual questions, here is what I have/did: These servers are 'secure' so I'm not so concerned about security. I have the anonymous access account in IIS (server 2003, so IIS6) using a local admin account. I have granted full permission to every user account (IUSR, IWAM, ASPNET, Network Service etc. etc.) to all the
files in the website's dir. I have granted full rights to cmd.exe, wscript.exe.
Now, after stopping/starting IIS about 7000 times and offering up many a prayer to the IIS/ASP gods (who obviously hate me), my ASP code starts to work again. HOWEVER, as soon as I log off, Poof! The script stops working and I need to go through the whole dance routine (which isn't consistent) until the script starts working again. Code:
I am having trouble creating a web site on a server running sharepoint services.
I am creating an ASP.Net website using Visual Studio 2005. The server I am trying to create it on is a Windows 2003 server.
From what I understand I need to exclude in sharepoint services the folder where the application will be deployed. I have done this in the Define Managed Paths section of the Sharepoint management site, but it has no effect. Even after I have done this and then attempt to create the ASP.Net website in Visual Studio I get the error message.
"Visual Web Developer does not support opening Sharepoint web sites. See help for more details".
Hence despite excluding the folder, the website still attempts to deploy into Sharepoint Services instead of the IIS. This is backed up by the fact that I can then see the website listed in "Sites and Workspaces" in Sharepoint.
i've installed vs.NET 2003 on my pc which is runing window 2000 pro with sp4, but when i'm trying to create new ASP.NET Web appication i got this messages "Visual Studio .NET has detected that the specified Web server is not running ASP.NET version 1.1. You will be unable to run ASP.NET Web applications or services."
View Replies View RelatedI'm currently migrating an ASP/SQL 7.0 site that runs on Windows NT 4 server to an ASP/SQL 2000 platform running on Windows 2003. The current server resides in Orlando, FL. The new server will reside in Miami, FL. Here's a recap.
Old Location/Server:
Orlando, Florida
SQL 7/ASP/Windows NT 4
New Location/Server:
Miami, Florida
SQL 2000/ASP/Windows 2003
Along the way, many apps are breaking (which was expected). I've successfully recoded CDONTS to CDO and I'm slowly working my way through 1999 code.
I also found out the hard way that you need to explicitly tell Windows 2003 to run ASP pages or it will ignore all calls. I also performed the User migration steps from SQL 7 to SQL 2000 which was a breeze with the help of the Microsoft knowledge base. Code:

To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application.
This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Code:
I have just set up an ASP-based site to a new Windows 2003 SP1 server with
IIS 6.0. Before now the site has run under IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000.
Every time an ASP page is opened, IE shows the error: "Cannot find server or
DNS Error".
All static page types open fine (HTM, GIF etc)
The confusing thing is - I have allowed Active Server Pages under Web
Service Extensions in the IIS manager. No other extensions are allowed,
other than ASP.NET.
I have tried accessing the site from the server itself, from another machine
on the LAN. I have tried using the IP address, server name and localhost in
the URL. I have also removed the Virtual Directory the site lives in. None
of these changes made any difference. Oh yes, I have also tried rebooting!
I am trying to set a mail reply back on a site and was wondering if there is some kind of script, that would let me know the Server type and version the site is at so I can determine if I should use CDOSYS or CDONTS.
View Replies View Relatedi have recently completed and tested a site in using IIS on my desktop as a server,
and everything runs fine. Upon transferring all the files up to the Real Server at work,
the ASP pages are not displayed as i get an error saying that the include files caanot be found.
The include files for my ASP pages are in a folder called 'includes' which sits in the same dir as the ASP files. This setup works fine on IIS on my desktop, but for some reason, this same setup is not working when the files are on the Server. Has anyone got any ideas as to why this might be happening?

This is the code for my Procedure:
Code: .....
When I execute this code, I receive this error on line 314:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Error converting data type varchar to int.
Line 314 is the classComm.Execute line. All the datatypes in my stored procedure those specified in the parameter declararations, and they all match with the datatypes in the DB. Other than the strings that are integer (strClassID) or date (strOccurDate), everything is a varchar.
I have no idea why this error is occurring. I have a similar stored procedure that adds the records in the same way and it kicks out the same error at the same time.
I've got a SQL server database, and am using ASP to create a simple recordset.
Everything is fine, except that one column of the database is of 'text' data type. I can't seem to be able to pull anything from this field in my ASP script. All names and variables are correct, and there is data in the text field, it just comes out blank when I pull this field into my recordset.
The problem occured when I used FP2002 to create a page to search a database. The purpose was to see how it worked and the code behind it so I could start learning how to work it myself.
But before I got that far, I get an error message:

View Replies View RelatedWhenever I do a site that is mostly static but with some semi-dynamic

I like the FSO-based search engines, but they fail to pick up on some of

I was just creating a Google sitemap and it made me wonder: has anyone

Seems like if you were keeping it updated for Google, why not use it for
your own site?
This New Company I'm with Sets their Default WebSite to a local Directory on "D" Yea I've been down the whole route reinstalling XP Pro,,, IIS 5.1 The .NET framework everything. Now I'm just frustrated.
What the Heck !! Theres a web project (C# ASP.net) in the solution containing many many some odd 19 or so projects. MSVSS is additionally in the picture to make things a little more complex. (I.E. the non web projects go elsewhere on the D drive) All I'm asking for here are the BASIC Settings to get my DEV environment and my IE to "SEE" this D:Web folder as Localhost. Response.Write rs("question") & "<br />" & rs("answer")
I get an error that reads "Type Mismatch"
but if I change the type of the answer field to type varchar I don't get the error but am limited in the length of the field's contents. I just also noticed that if I keep the type at TEXT and change the collation to ascii_general_ci I don't get the mismatch error but all the ' characters turn into ? characters? Oh woe is me.
