I have sucessfully installed IIS 5.1 on XP Pro, and have validated a couple of test .asp pages.
When I try to connect to Access through Front Page, i get the following error:
The Database Results component on this page is unable to display database content. The page must have a filename ending in '.asp', and the web must be hosted on a server that supports Active Server Pages.
I am using a Replace function to replace single quotes with double when
submitting a text field in the database i.e. Replace (q, "'", "' ' ")
which works fine. When I retrieve the field from the database which has
apostrophe I am getting 'Object expected' error message. Is there a
way to fix this?
I am submitting data to a database field, and the data is being submitted in the following manner to a table in the database:
5,3,4,4,3,3,4,5,4,5,5
It's all comma delimeted. Now, what I would like to do is have an update page in which a user can update these values. I am trying to place the values in a repeated text box that corresponds with a repeated question.
The questions that I am displaying are in a repeated field and each question has a text box that will hold the value that corresponds to. I would like to be able to bring in each value into a repeated text box. Right now, each repeated text box contains the above information. (5,3,4,4,3,3,4,5,4,5,5). Is this possible?
I'm trying to retrieve information from a field in a database, which contains data, some of which are the same. ex:
let's say the table is called "Person_info" and there are 5 rows of info with a different person's info.
let's say i want to display the info in the fields called "City" but there are duplicates ex:
Toronto
Vancouver
Toronto
New York
Atlanta
I'd like it to display all the cities in there on a web page, but, I don't want it to display the same city twice:
so it'll display this:
Toronto
Vancouver
New York
Atlanta
I just can't get it to work? it keeps displaying duplicates.
I have a search set up on my site to compare between two <select> values and the value in the data base, but not sure if I have the sql statment correct, my search returns all rows from the table, I want specific row that is between one form select and another... ie. below

I am trying to write a web application that can retrieve information from an access database, store it in a recordset, update it, then update the access database. However, when I try to update the recordset, I get an error (500).

I have about 26 checkboxes that place all of my contacts into categories so in my database for contacts i have a field called categories that contains all of the categeories that each contact belongs to seperated by a ",". 1,5,17 etc.
I need help getting these values out of the database so that when I user select category 17 they get all of the contacts that containg the 17 in their respective categories field.
I have this page with photo thumbnails that are clickable. Each photo has corresponding info saved on a database. When the thumbnail is click, im trying to show the data in an asp page called info.asp.

I only know how to display ALL info from a database.
But i cant figure out how to display SPECIFIC info triggered by a query string. Example. Photo #1 is clicked. I only want the data that corresponds to Photo 1 to be displayed. How can i do this?

The remote procedure call failed and did not execute.
I have Win XP. It's been running fine for a long time and then
yesterday, for no apparent reason, I get this. I've tried the links
to asp.faq that I've seen others post and nothing works.
As a test, I created a simple ASP page with just '<%
Response.Write("Hello") %>' in it and still the error occurs so it's
not a scripting or database problem. DotNet seems to run fine and I
can run HTML pages, I also have Apache and can run PHP scripts with no
problem ... everything except classic ASP.
Any ideas? This is driving me crazy and I need IIS running because I
am falling behind in my work. As I mentioned, I've been running ASP
scripts on this machine for years and have never seen this problem.
I installed pws(pws10a.exe) and tried running a sample asp code.I get nothing but a blank page.

i was trying to run bat file from asp page and getting: Access Denied
but when i run the bat file from the command prompt on the local server, it's running good the bat file copying files from target computer in the LAN to the local
computer, o.k
i give write and execute permission on the IIS for this site on the local folder(where the bat file) i assign full NTFS access for "test" user on the target computer i shared the folder with Everyone Full control and assign Full NTFS access for the "test" user
but still cannot run the .bat file
where it can be the problem, how i need to set the site on the IIS to run the bat file?

View Replies View RelatedI do not understand why. I am running perfectly well asp.net on a virtual directory, but if I put a simple asp file such as this, and named it foo.asp, and try to run it from this virtual directory, I get the 500 error:

Any ideas why? I check the Properties of this virtual directory, and under The Virtual Directory tab, Configuration button, App Mappings tab, I can see .asp listed pointing to

I've had some problems with an ASP site I've developed. Everything is pretty simple/basic, however, the box it is hosted on is very "neglected" to say the least (old NT 4.0 box, zero services, etc).
Anyway, I have these pages that worked fine until today. The pages are fed from an Access 2000 database. The system administrator's been switching all the DNS records for various boxes lately and was wondering if this could be the culprit giving me this error.
I know this error is often associated with I_USR account privileges, could they have been re-set during this process thus giving me the error? Or could it be something else?

I am trying to connect to a database and insert data from a form. The code is correct, to my knowlegde. Now, I have another page that is selecting from the database, this page works fine. The page inserting for some reason I can't firgure out why it is giving me an Operation must use an updateable query. I have read through some of the cause for this and haven't had much luck here's why.
I think it is the permissions but I need someone to walk me throw how to change them. The company has a dedicated server located off the property where the web site is contained. We also have a mirrored server in house that I have access too. Now when I go into the mirrored server and right click on the database I can change the permissions here.
Which I have done and it's still not working. At first I didn't have IUSR set up, I have a couple of Iusr accounts to chose from and don't know which to choose. Plus when I finally did choose one the code still gave me the same error.
