Image Search And Lightbox Functionality And Code..
I'm pretty new to this and im in the process of developing a site for a wildlife photographer in ASP and i need to implement an image search on the site including the functionality to add images to a lightbox etc. And to be honest i just dont know where to start... been searching and currently still searching .....
I am really interested in creating a search the site.I am unsure how to actually approach such a task, but would rather do this using ASP, without the use of third party search tools, taht I know can be used. Can anyone give me some direction for actually developing one.I hope to add one to my site in the future, as the site will mainly be focussed towards offering tutorials etc, and it would be cool to actually have a serach utility, that could make things a lot easier for the viewer. Any advice. I have briefly looked at one offered on: http://www.stardeveloper.com/ But the complexity of it is overwhelming, and includes code that I dont think would be required for the search I actually have in mind.
I made an application using asp using help from fellow members. This application allows user to download files uploaded through ftp through a web page. they can select the check-boxes and download all the files in a single zip file.
Now some users want that some search functionality should be put on so that they can type a part of file name and all the files having the searched words in their name should come on a separate page so that they can select and download in one go.
I want to add a "quick search" functionality in ASP or ASP.NET page. I heard we can use Microsoft Indexing Service to accomplish the task, but not sure how to do it. Is this the correct approach? Code:
i am developing my project in asp. (database in mysql). the core purpose of the project is to provide text search. i want to provide image search also. i want to provide text box where user can type product name and the result will display the related photographs of that product from the folder. how can i do this ? should i have to store the file name in database.
I want the ASP code to pull data from the database. If i enter one of the field in the form and then click on Search button, the data for the other fields should automatically pop up.
I have a site and i have a text box for someone to type in a zip code. i nee dto know how to program, or locate a database, where the results will display my business location(s) by zipcode and display the total distance between the zip code entered by the visitor to the site, and my locations.
like Midas has on their site (www.midas.com) where you type in a zip code and it returns the store locations and how far away they are from you.
I am trying to implement a search form that lets people find businesses by zip codes with a certain distance (e.g. 10, 20, and 50 miles).what do I need to buy to have the resources to do this? I have seen some zip code databases but I am not sure how to setup the distance from point A to point B and return the results within the distance.
I am creating student website and wants to create some featuer like if user come on my side and type his/her student id in provided SEARCH FIELD [TEXT BOX] that page will display perticular information of that user but before that it will ask for login name and password as well. I am making my website in XHTML [front end], JAVA SCRIPT[validation], ASP [server coding], IIS server.
I'm trying to work out how to do a post code search with longitiude and latitude, the idea is to be able to input yuor postcode and the search will return all company stores in that area.
i want to write code for downloading Jpeg images from a hyperlink click when i passes jpeg images then browser opens it in the window rather then showing download window
right now the only way through which i m able to perform this is by zipping these jpeg images code is foll.
I wish to create a page with a validation code (something like rapidshare.de or gmail, when u want to submit, u will required to type the characters in the image shown for validation)
I'm having bit of a problem with a search engine. I got an intranet running in a company with IIS, Indexing Server and ASP. I've realized a search engine which also returns abstracts from the documents.
Most pages in the website are ASP pages. That doesn't mean that it draws all its contents from databases. I'm using ASP for other stuff as well. So they're basically documents, but with extras and hence ASP.
I excluded all sorts of things, e.g. "_" directories, like _vti and _private. Also directories like "include" are left out as people don't need to search for javascript code or css style sheets. Those are not relevant to the users. And finally I also give people the opportunity to make files non-searchable with a quick tag.
So what's the problem? When I perform a search e.g. for "body" (without the "" quotes) it would in this example return some results and one of those results got an abstract with evident pieces of ASP code. Code:
point me to some example code of searching for a file, like *.*, or *.pdf, much like the Windows search function. I am at a smaller location, away from the main office, and although I can map a drive or just use to go to the desired location, the connection is too slow to search.
I'd like to implement a search function on the intranet web (at the main office), where it will search a certain directory and its subdirectories and return the results as network links (using the convention); actually it doesn't matter how it displays the links, as long as it shows me where stuff is. That way the search is run on the computer where the originating directories are.
Is it possible to hide code from search engines. We have a dynamical asp-home page that takes two text files per page. One text file contains meta information. I want to stop all search engines to include this text file in the search result.
i have a server that has x number of pdf's. from time to time people are wanting to print one or more of those pdf's. right now they have to open up each pdf individual and then print. which can get annoying and time consuming after 3 or 4 pdf's. i'm going to setup a simple screen where they can use a checkbox to select which pdf's they want to print, hit print, and then combine the selected pdf's into a temporary pdf where they can go through the process one time. do yo all know of perhaps some functionality built into asp or some third party deal that will allow me to do this?
i have this search textbox and i want to search the likeness of the value i've entered in the box i created a query but i notice that when i type small caps letters it returned no results...
no matching record but when i capitalized the first character records were found e.g i type San the query returned results... i entered san and it returned nothing....this is my code "select * from profile where name='varname%'" help please?
Im trying to finish off this project, but obviously I need a way for them to edit the database through asp. Does anyone know a good place to get some code or tutorial help for this?
I want to give Excel functionality. like copy/paste functionality in a web page and similarly I want to update the respective values at the backend after some action is taking by the user. like save/upadate data.
I need to read information from a delimitered text file and list it in a specified format on a web page.
I have no access to a database so have to use the method above, I am wondering though, how much of a strain this sort of function would be (ie. load times etc) for a very large list?
If someone could point me in the right direction of which functions i need to be learning about (Old hand at PHP brand new to ASP),
I want to redirect users who DO NOT SUPPORT sessions to another page.
Think this will work? PSEUDO CODE:
------------------------------------------------------------------- <asp vbscript> <session("test")="true"> <if session("test")="true" then do nothing else response.redirect(www.domain.com/nosessions) end if> -------------------------------------------------------------------
This is setting a session state of "true", and I presume if sessions are disabled for security reasons, that the site will redirect accordingly?
I have a main asp page, and i need to send the link to a friend, via an email. Say if i click the link "Email this to a friend", what i like is to make a pop up window and ask to enter username email address and freinds email address and click send, i need to send the link as i have on top ,is it possible to get the link which i have on top of the page as a paramter from the pop up window other than sending all values by url. Code:
I have a client who has had a ASP site with an Access database for several years. It stores information for the used cars on his lot. I have stored text in the database that points to the location of the image for each record. Each record will have a thumb image that is supposed to display in a list of vehicles available then the user can select an item from this list and a new page displays with the information and the regular size image. So far everything has worked fine exept for the display of the images which are stored in a separate directory called veh-photos. All I get are image place holders. I am using Dreamweaver 2004 and and Access 2000 for the database.
1.I want to show a image file of type '.tif' in the browser window; for that I'm writting as ASP code page.
2.This '.tif' type image can be shown better with 'Kodak Image Control'.
3.To have this 'Kodak Image Control' on my code page I just add it's ..ocx to tool box and then drag it from 'Toolbox' to the page.
4.Now after dropping this control to the code it's type is getting changed to 'object' instead of type 'ImgEdit'(and I think this is the reason I don't get correct result).
5.On one button's 'Onclick' event I'm calling a javascript function with which I'm setting a 'Path'and'Display' property of a control.
6.And want to show a image at location -- '..MFTDRCMF919685173-62.tif' which get shown in new browser window but could not get shown in that particular control. That means the path is correct, then what is the problem?
For better understanding of problem I'm pasting a following code which I've tried up till now...... .................................................. <%@ Language=VBScript %> <% OPTION EXPLICIT %>
<HTML> <HEAD> <META NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0">
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=javascript> <!-- function showpic() { var path; path = document.frmtif.path.value; alert(path); document.frmtif.ImgEdit1.Image =path; document.frmtif.ImgEdit1.Display; window.parent.self.open(path); }
I am creating a dynamic ASP VBScript page, which gets data from an Access database.
In the database, there is a field which holds a URL to an image. I can get the image to display fine, but where there is no file that matches the URL (i.e. a missing image) I want to display an alternative, default image (e.g. one that says "Awaiting Image"). The field is never blank, but the image file may not exist for all records in the database.
I think what I am trying to get to is the following:
If file exists (using URL from database to get location of image file) then display image using the url from the database as the image source else display default image - hardcoded in program endif
I have had a go and come up with the attached but I get an error with my if statement...
