Import Excel File From Asp Page To Listbox/access

Basically, I want to have an asp page that has a button where when you click on it, it opens up a file open dialog box where you can search for any excel file you want to import. Then, once a file is selected, I want to read all the contents of the excel file (from column A) to display into a listbox on the screen (so that each individual row from excel file would be a separate item in the listbox). Also, this data would have to be inserted accordingly into an access database .....

Automatically Fill Out An Excel File From An ASP Page?

My boss wants me to develop this page so that users can click on a button alongside an employee's page and this will open up the company Expenses Claim Form with some of the fields automatically filled in, pulled from the same SQL database that the webpage gets its info from.

I have been looking this up for *weeks* now, but the only solutions I can see involve the dot net framework, 3rd-party plug-ins or installing the Microsoft ODBC driver for Excel. My boss will not accept any of these solutions, as we are a huge organisation and this has to work accross the entire system. We're stuck with MS Office 2002, Windows XP and SQL Server 2000.

So far the best I can manage is getting the Excel form to open (but without the fields filled in), which I accomplish using the following code:

Page 2 - Listbox

You should know the difference between the javascript and asp error. When the page cannot be displayed then it is ASP error and the line number mentioned will be the one in the actual asp file. When the page can be displayed and the error pop up then it is the javascript error, for this kind of error you have to check the source file for the line number.

I hope now u will be able to differentiate the error and to look for the correct line which is causing the error. Back to the error you have mentioned. Does the main_head.asp have the javascript function called alterTab()? Remove this include file and try whether it cause the same error.

Changing Values In 1 Listbox When Selecting Records In Another Listbox

I was wondering if you could help me with the following problem. I have 2 listboxes in my
webpage, 1 has cities, and the other lists the streets of the city from the first listbox.

When I click on a city, I want the 2nd listbox to populate with all streets in the city. The city and streets are saved in a database, so when the user selects the city, I will run a query on the database and populate the 2nd listbox with all streets.

How can I do this with normal ASP? I know how to do this with ASP.NET, but don't know how to activate this with normal ASP?

Automatic .ldb File Deletion After Closing Connection To The Access DB From ASP Page

I created connection to the Microsoft Access DB using DSN from my ASP page.

<%
Set vpconn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
vpconn.ConnectionString =
"File Name=c:inetpubwwwrootDBDNAME.dsn"
vpconn.Open
' Close connection immediately after opening for testing
vpconn.Close
Set vpconn=Nothing
%>

The Microsoft Access, for every database opened for shared use, creates an .ldb file to prevent users from writing data to pages that other users have locked. Whenever the last user closes a shared database, the .ldb file should be deleted.

It is working; the .ldb file is deleted immediately after closing connection
but not if you open/close this connection from your ASP page.

What I found, the .ldb file is deleted with about 70 seconds delays after closing connection from an ASP page.

How To Import Certificate File Into Windows Certificate Store Under IWAM Account

Due to the nature of our system, we need to dynamically import certificate
files into windows certificates store and access the certificate store from
ASP pages, these ASP pages call a VB dll component, which uses the CAPICOM
component to manipulate windows certficate store.

Because ASP is running under IWAM account, we got "Access is denied" error
when trying to import the certificate files. We registered the VB
components under COM+ to get around this security problem. However,
recently we are experiencing all sorts of problems with COM+ ( eg.
DLLHost.exe hang with 100% CPU after heavy traffic, ActiveX component can
not be created out of sudden), we decided to move this VB component out of
COM+, which means we are facing the same old "Access is denied" problem
again. Code:

Access And Excel

I have an Excel database of Names and Email addresses that I have to use to send a monthly automated newsletter to. The thing is that my application uses Access, and I am not sure how I can avoid having to maintain two seperate databases. I have to take the Excel DB and convert it to Access, every time there is an update. Then change field names, and db structure for use in my app.

Do any of you know how I can have it either automated, or made a little less time consuming, and simple to maintain?

ASP Forms Excel Access

I am in the process of building a small Intranet application. Iam using ASP along with access backend on IIS 5.0.

Info will be sent from an HTML form, [an inventory report] various drop down lists, text boxes, etc.

This info from the form is then added to the mdb, but an administrator needs to pull the same form back to add further info to complete the form, [cookies?] and finally it gets exported to excel format and saved on the server. Also an admin page needs setting up so "admin" can confirm when some reports are completed and when others need completing, maybe this could be the way the first part of the form could be stored and pulled back from ? Could it all be done in MS office applications?

Access Data To Excel Using Asp

I have an intranet application written in asp using access as the backend database. My users have requested they be able to download certain data into an excel spreadsheet. I have limited asp experience and could use some help.

Ideally, the user would be prompted to save and name the file (save as dialogue) and then the data would be selected and saved into that file. I know I can use a select statement to select data directly into an excelspreadsheet using:

SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;Database=" & lcPathFile & "].[Sheet1] FROM myTable

But I'm not sure that is the right approach.

ASP Attempting To Access MS Access 2000 On File Share

I have a Development server that is running Win2k, IIS 5.0, and ASP enabled. I am trying to gain access to an Access 2000 DB located on a file server within my domain. I'm pretty sure I have all the correct permissions set, but I am having problems when trying to access the DB.

The error is similar to:

The Microsoft Jet Database engine cannot open the file '******'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

I'm looking for ways to fix this... Microsoft suggests turning off the ability for IIS to sync passwords. Unfortunately, this is not a viable solution for me.

Is it possible to create a new virtual server that is a share to my file server? Put my ASP and MDB file in there and have it work? Anyone have any other ideas?
