I have a small window 'pop-up' from the main page, and then after details entered into small window, click submit, and do some database stuff. refresh teh parent paeg and then close the smal window.
my pc works fine with this, another pc works fine, but one remote computer, in an office LAN does not proces the script properly.
is there a setting I can tweak on my side or could it be because his comp is in an offie LAN maybe behind firewall?
I have been using a product from the net which facilitates file uploading. It works great except for some reason I can not get the little window that pops up to accurately represent the file upload process. It just doesn't work. So, I began to think of a simple work around. If when the form is submitted, I call a javascript function which opens a small new window telling them their files are being uploaded.
It could have an animated gif if you will of a progress bar. Once the files are uploaded in the (asp) script I am using, I have a Response.Redirect Statement sending the person to another page. Before this redirect, could I not have a call to a javascript function that would close the small window automatically?
I have a simple code for user registration. It ocnnects to access db and checks whether the username already exisits before inserting. The problem is I am getting 'username already exisits error' even for genuine unique entries. And this is not consistent. At times there is no error. All the unique genuine entries are entered into the database irrespective of the error status (whether the error is thrown or not).
when tested locally (local host) absolutely there is no problem. this happens only in the server. Can the experts here point out what the problem could be - could it be related to caching or something?
I'm having an inconsistent problem involving cookies. I have attempted to duplicate the OS/browser settings for the remote users in question but I cannot seem to duplicate the problem in any OS (Mac, Linux, Windows). I've gone over and visited one problem site and I couldn't get it to work by playing with security and privacy settings in MSIE. Obviously there is a setting somewhere but I can't find it.
I can duplicate the problem by commenting out the ASP code that sets a particular cookie. I also didn't see the cookie get set on the problem system when I was trouble-shooting. I can't have the problem system with me when I code though. :(
I won't post the entire project, but here are the parts that seem to be central to the problem...
It works fine on my systems. It redirects on the problem systems, only they act like the cookie doesn't exist. When I asked the computer to prompt me for each cookie I never saw epeid. On my system when I ask for a prompt it just stalls on that particular cookie.
The above code is executed before any headers are written.
At least once per day I am receiving this error on this specific page.
"Error: File /customer/record.asp Unexpected error. A trappable error (C0000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running.."
This page gets hit thousands of times per day yet it usually only logs one incident of this error per day.
I have checked every resource and made all the recommended fixes but it still occurs.
This page uses some ADODB connections, Jmail, and sets a few cookies. I cannot reproduce the error. I have no clue as to what it could be. All code is sound and works correctly.
i have a record that is returned by the database as domain/username. i want to be able to strip off "domain/" and just display "username". is this possible? if so, how would i go about doing this?
i don't know what to do here exactly. i have seen the TRIM function, but i'm not sure if it's the right way to do it. i have a recordset called RSUSEREDIT. in the recordset there is a column called "EMail". i can print out the results using Code:
<%=RSUSEREDIT("Email")%>
the email column always uses the same domain name... - username@domain.com is it possible to remove the part after and including the "@"?
I have a URL... everything returned by the url, I need to write to a file. lets say its 40 lines of text... how can I write it to a text file and save it??
I'm creating a site that pulls details from a database & display it on screen. Problem is that there's sometimes loads of data which makes the page huge. What I want it to do is display ten and a next page link to display the next ten. Like the way Google displays results. Problem is I don't know how to generate pages on the fly. So the question is can it be done and does ne1 know how to do it?
First, thanks to all who have helped me over the last few weeks !! I have a form that allows the user to select multiple options. These are user names:
Fred S Bob D Paul G Dave O
When the form is submitted, I'm getting the details using
user = request.form("user")
this is returning the mutliple options. What I would like to do is pass all the options to 'user' but at one point on the results page only show the first user selected, not the multiple selection
what is an easy way to go about sorting my search results through links, you know, like clicking the link at the top of a column. i know how to pass the order by in a querystring:
but what about all the other links? what do I do with the previous querystring entries like lastname, firstname, and state? i find if i add orderlast to my lastname column and i click on it, i will have 2 orderlast querystrings
I'm using multiple recordsets on a page, and they are all returning correct results and enough of them. My problem is when I try to access the recordcount property rs.recordcount, they all return a result of -1. This would usually mean that no records are returned. So why is showing my recordsets that are displaying records with recordcounts of -1. I can't seem to figure out.
what I need is to dysplay only the first say 10 results and then have a link 'next' and dysplay 10 more in a new page
result result result result ... next
I can create a var and add 1 more for each result, till 10 end then create the link, but i don't now how to start the new page from the 11 result.
I know how to display results that contain html code on a page. (ie. <br> <b>...)
what i would like to know, is if a result contains bbc code (ie.. [code] [url]..) how would i display that to be readable?
This is not for a forum, but would be the same as if i was writting a forum. I think there is a script that the page has to contain to be able to read it correctly, but I can't find it.
My SQL statement won't return results where any field in a record is blank. What can I do to fix this?
strSQL = "SELECT * FROM newarchive WHERE Program_Title LIKE '%" & program & "%' AND Year_Aired LIKE '%" & yearA & "%' AND Sponsor LIKE '%" & sponsor & "%' AND Month_Aired LIKE '%" & monthA & "%' ORDER BY ID"
It gets its values from a form where some fields can be left blank. If the record itself does not have a blank field, the search will pick it up. But if the record contains a blank field, then it won't be selected unless it matches the Program_Title data.
I know how to use the LIKE command in a query but how do I do it in the results of a recordset results="<b>Hello</b> World"
I want to search the above result and if it has a <B> in it, I want set hasabold="Y"
I need to be able to search through a large amount of text so the BOLD marks will not always be at the front of the results. They maybe be on line 50 character 59,
I have programmed several online forms(typically using cgi).A client of mine does not like how the results are formated (the long column of text)Is there anything I can do to program the results of this online form to get put into another format that would be e-mailed to the receipient?
i have a results page on a webpage and i was wondering if it was possible to dump these results (they are stored in a database)into a excel spread sheet?
Currently I have results writing to the browser just fine (using frames).I would like to change it to where the results of a query are written to a new browser window.I have changed my asp code to be form.
I have a database in Access and I want to dislpay all the lastnames of the database through an asp file. I have managed to do that. But I want to display every 10 fields.I mean to appear 10 last names.and then to press next button and appear the other 10 and etc. Any clues?
I have a form email that was built in a .html doc that posts to a formsubmit.asp page. I have radio buttons in the form email-how do I get the results of the radio button selection to post in the email?
need to query a database and then get the results in a tab delimited file.currently am writing record by record in the file using the FSO,but just wanted to check can we directly get the results in the TAB delimited format and save to a file on the server.
Using the following query I get my desired results. However, in the resulting recordset, how can I show for example 10 words before and 10 words after the keyword or phrase that was searched upon? If I get 20 resulting records I think it would be easier for the user to decide which they want to view.
DECLARE @SearchString varchar(100) SET @SearchString = ' "stress" ' SELECT KEY_TBL.RANK, Title, Body FROM Articles INNER JOIN FREETEXTTABLE(Articles,*, @SearchString) AS KEY_TBL ON Articles.ID = KEY_TBL.[KEY] ORDER BY Rank DESC
I am going to be working on a project that is a web based survey that will submit the data to a database. But the data will also need to be multiplied by a number and displayed back to the user with some text. And was wondering if anyone had any good resources or samples I could check out I really appreciate any response.
Is there a way to grab all the results from the querystring which are sent via a form submit? In PHP, you can just do something like $var = _GET; which will grab all the fields on the querystring.
Environement with IIS, SQL server and ASP.I've got a SELECT querie on a asp page witch selects à number of rows within my table. With this results and with a form I open an other asp page who does a UPDATE on my table and returns to my first page.
When my first page opens my SELECT querie gives only the first ten results of this querie. I have to wait for about 5 minutes revising my page until he gives all results. It's so strange, that I don't know where to look! My server IIS, my server SQL or someting with my pages asp...?
I have a database with 3 fields in it ... photoname, price, job. I'm hoping to set up a drop down menu, which changes the "ORDER BY" part of the SQL query line, to one of those field names. That would enable a user to order the records (being served from an access database), by either name, price or job.
I know that it's got something to do with "request.form", but I don't know how to get the variable from the form to the SQL query. It would be 100% perfect, if the drop down menu automatically posted, when it was changed, so that it didn't need a submit button. But I think I might need to figure that out myself .
