how can i insert data from a sub form to the fields in the parent form. I am currently to do a search from at the parent form by poping out a new form. When i got the search result, i will need to click on the selected search result and populate into the parent form fields without any refreshing process as it might reset my form.

The ChageCount column cannot have nulls and must be unique. is there a way when I'm adding a new charge, i can check to see if a chargecount exists? For example, if inserting a new record, it will first check if there is a chargecount, if there is not, it will make it 1. if there is a charge count, it will +1 to the existing chargecount
I'm currently tring to insert data into an access db using asp. I have a form which is found in a popup window and which contains the fields Name and Comment. When I click on the Submit button,I call a javascript function in order to redirect the user to the page that will save the name and comment.
However,I am having an error like this:Field 'VoicesComment.Name' cannot be a zero-length string. The problem is that the value from the previous page in the popup window is not retrieved. I have tried retrieving the name entered and the page does not return anything.

I have a website written in ASP with an MSSQL2000 backend. Recently I moved off of Windows 2000 Server running IIS5 to a Windows2003 Server running IIS6 with SP3.
I transfered my sites data over an all is peachy except I cannot add any new data through the gui. I can edit existing data and delete existing data, but adding is a no go.
The code below is suppose to check to see if an order for a particular user already exist for that day. If it doesn't then it creates a new order number in the webordernum table and inserts the items requested into the weborderlist table. It the ordernum however does exist, it just adds the item to the list....

In my sql database I have a True/False field called VariantFlag which is a bit data type. The IRNvar value is numeric. I am trying to insert the 1 or 0 into the database so that the field shows true or false accordingly but I get a 'Type Mismatch' error. Here's the insert statement:

I am just wodering in asp program, if there is anybody writing store procedure for inserting data into database since there are so many parameters need to be passed into store procedure(assume there are many columns in the table).
I need to insert data into two separate tables, the relation between these two tables is 1 row of data in table1 could have multiple rows in table2 related to table1, but if the data insertion into any one of the tables is failed, the transaction will roll back and no data will be remained in any of the tables.
If this needs to be handled in asp program using transact sql, how do I implement it. If I need to it using store procedure, how do I pass the error or success signal to asp program from database.

When the user clicks on the modify button, it takes them to a page which displays the quantity of items they purchase, and allows them to update that quantity. So the quantity is shown in a textbox, and the content of the text box is drawn from a rs("content").
But the page is crashing when I run it. I'm having trouble getting the response.write textbox line to work. Here's the code:

This is the line that is causing the page to crash. Can't figure out why. Can someone give me some insight into this?

Right now, I can insert the information to the DB after I click submit, but how can I also receive an email? Please give some ideas how to do it.
I am uploading a file using ASP code. After the user uploads the file, I would like to be able to open the file and check if the data is in a given format (comma separated) and also has all the data elements needed (i.e. all fields are there).
Is there a parse routine in asp that would allow me to do this. The user can upload any type of file as long as I am able to parse it and determine if the data is of the aforemention type.

View Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a form to insert info into a access database. I am using dreamweaver 2004, i created the form with 4 text fields and a submit button. Ive added a ODBC connection and dreamweaver can qurery my table.
I added an insert record server behaviour, and i figured dreamweaver does all the work for you but when i saved and uploaded the page to my test server it would not submit and redirect to my chosen page, it only refresh the form.Has anyone out there done this before and can notice a step that im missing. Do i need to setup a recordset? because ive tried that as well and no success.
I made a 2 web surveys with identical code. Although the code is similar in both, values on the last page of one of the survey do not go in the database.
I have tried playing around (coz I really dont understand what the problem is), but nothing works. The same code works on the other survey with absolutely no problems.All thats there in my survey to insert values is

i have setup a form on a normal http page which collects name address etc and is then passed to a https page to collect credit card details, on clicking submit on the https page the credit card details are inserted in db on secure server along with one field that was passed from the http page (the user id).
this all works ok, however i then need to pass the remaining orignal form values back to another http page that then inserts these values to another DB. ok you may be asking why.... the first forms allows the user to correct information already held on file before upgrading their listing, i then need them to pay for the upgrade before inserting the amended data in the orignal database... How..
I have a text field in a web page I am working on that seems to be calculating phone numbers before inserting them into an Access database. i.e., 867-5309 will result as -4442 in the Access text field. My guess is that the webserver or client is processing it before inserting it. Is there any way to stop this other than using a validation script?
View Replies View RelatedI have a form that has the option to upload a file at the bottom. If you select a file it works fine but if you leave file selection blank the forms bombs. This is not how I want it to work. On the form you need to use ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" in the form tag.
On the processing page I need to use Set to assign a variable to the form data. I tried using IF on the variable assigned to the file path but it bombs out telling me "This function is not supported". Is there any other way I can check to see if curQes has a value assigned to it?

View Replies View RelatedI have a series a forms that submit data to different tables in a database. As it stands, when a user completes FORM 1 and clicks the SUBMIT button, the FORM 1 data is submitted (action = form2.asp, method = post) to ASP code at the top of FORM 2 (request.form("form1 field name") etc...), and submitted to the database with SQL code, also at the top of FORM 2(INSERT into...). Hence the submit button on FORM 1 directs the user to FORM 2, and submits the data which is exaclty what I wanted. However, I now need the users to submit multiple sets of data with FORM 1, and direct them to FORM 2 once they have finished using FORM 1. Most importantly, I need to pass a few parameters from FORM 1 to FORM 2, and have these parameters submitted to the database.
My main problem is getting a fresh form1 after submiting the same form1, in preparation for anoter set of data using the same form. Basically, the database has 'one to many' relationship tables. Form1 and form2 are both populating the 'many' tables, so that each form needs to be filled-in several times while retaining the key field of the 'one' table. At the moment submiting form1 takes me to form2. Is is possible to submit the data to the database, get form1 back again to submit more data, as many times as required, then click another button to load form2 when the user is finished with form1?
Can anyone please give me some pointers? or at least explain the concept of what I need to do. I am a novice and it's taking me a while to get to this stage. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to post FORM1 to itself and insert the data (i.e. place the request.form at the top of FORM 1) If so, how do I direct users to FORM 2 while retaining my parameters?
