How would a guy go about inserting BLOB files into an Oracle database? My company wants me to put logos in a database, and then depending on the client logging in, display a certain image. My boss wants an interface to allow for us to upload them to the database, also.
I personally think just dropping them into a centralized directory and then storing the path, or the image name in a char or varchar field would make more sense, but. Can someone help me with this, or give me any ideas? I've floated the idea to him to buy a third-party component to facilitate the upload, but he's not really appreciative of that idea.
What about .NET? From what I understand, it has very good file upload capabilities. I already have the framework installed on our server, so I should be able to use it if needed. Would that be a better route to go?
I have a website that we display images we have saved into a SQL Server 2000 database as binary BLOB. This is on a Windows 2003 Server. Just recently (a week ago) this website began to save the images it is displaying on the website as ASP pages in the Temporary Internet Files > IE.Content > Folder.
We have other websites where we use the exact same code and these do not save files on the server when they are displayed.
Here is the code to display the image: Set rs = objConn.Execute( SQL ) Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream" Response.BinaryWrite rs("Product_Image")
SQL is the SQL String to get the image from database
When I add this code:
Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg"
The images still display on the website, but now are saved in the Temporary Internet Files folder as JPG's.
I have a script that allows people within my company to see the files end-users have uploaded to the sever, and it gives them the ability to download the files to their computer. The only problem: When someone uploads a file that has spaces in the title ...
For instance, if someone uploads document.doc, it displays and everything is great; I can download it from the web. If someone uploads document_1.doc that's fine too. When this happens, and I go to download, the URL is http://www.mycompany.com/extranet/uss/document_1.doc and everything is great.
But when someone uploads document 1.doc ... there's that space in there, then it gets all messed up. The download URL would then be http://www.mycompany.com/extranet/uss/document ... and it would cut off after the space. Does anyone have any suggestions? The code is below. Code:
Just wondering if any one can tell me why on my machine in Inetpub, when I want to display data from a blob column, I get data that is like = "4D6573736", using Response.BinaryWrite. My ado version is 2.8, does it have some thing to do with missing some thing?
I figured out yesterday how to get a blob in, then found an easier way (basically put them all in access then import them into sql).
My problem is getting them out. I dont care if its ASP, PHP or what, but I dont know exactly how I would go about getting it.
I have 2 fields in the database, one is the blob data, and the other is just a name, so I'll be selecting on that, and then displaying its corresponding blob data (tif files).
How would I go about doing this? I've never done blobs, I've normally just done an echo $variable type of thing for string and integers and such.
I have stored a .gif and jpeg file in the database as the BLOB object. Now I am trying to create a report which displays that gif file along with another information. Is there a way I can display the BLOB objects on the page without having to use any crystal report tool or anything ?
I need some help with ADO types. I use an stored procedure to insert records in a table. One of columns needed is a Blob type (subtype Text). In adition I use ADODB.command configured as I show: ... oProcedure.Parameters.Append oProcedure.CreateParameter("Description", adLongVarChar, adParamInput, 1234567, description) ... But it doesn't work well. After call, the table shows something like binary data. I'd tried to use other ADO types like adVarChar, adVarWChar, adLongVarBinary,... with same result or type errors.
anyone know of an application that integrates with Dreamweaver to allow me to work with blob images from a SQL database and put them in an ASP.NET page?
Im trying to display a default image on my asp page that pulls data from a sql server database but i can't get the default image to display. I get error messages saying type mismatch everytime on line 25... Code:
I am currently working on a document management system for my company's Marketing department. They wish to be able to upload files to the server.
Rather than deal with the many permissions issues we have had in the past with saving and deleting these files to the server's file system, this time we are trying to use SQL server BLOB fields to store the files.
The premise is simple -- a user clicks on the link and the file is then shown in the browser. The documents are mostly word, Quark, and Adobe Illustrator documents. I was thinking the code would go something like this: Code:
Has anyone else found a memory leak using ADO streams to access binary data held in a database. I have searched through this forum and have not come across anyone else, so maybe it is just me.
The scenario is as follows: Windows 2000 SP3 MDAC 2.7 SP1 IIS5 MySQL 3.23 MyODBC 2.50
If I query the database and do a response.binarywrite everything works fine and no memory leak. eg. response.binarywrite myrecordset("blobfield")
If I read the very same BLOB field into a ADOstream I then get a memory leak in DLLHOST.EXE of how big that binary field was. ie If the picture is 140k in size DLLHOST.EXE increases its memory size by 140k.
This keeps on happening until DLLHOST.EXE is something like 250 MBytes in size at which point it stops working. Quick restart of the IIS Web service and I get all my memory back.
The command I am using to get the data into the ADOstream is picturestream.write myrecordset("blobfield")
I have also tried putting the binary data into a variable first before inserting it into the stream: set x=myrecordset("blobfield") picturestream.write x
The stream is closed and set to nothing at the end of processing. Everything is cleanly shut down. Through testing I know the memory leak occurs once the data has been written into the stream. The stream is correctly created as type binary.
The stream problem I am encountering does not seem to be limited to ASP, I tried it using Visual Basic to create a COM component to do the same job and still got a memory leak.
So the questions are: 1. Has anyone come across this before or fixed it? 2. Is there another way of getting binary data out of MySQL, something like the opposite of LoadFile?
I have wasted so much time on this problem but cannot find, having searched Microsoft's knowledge base and the rest of the web, any reference to the problem.
Can a php file be executed inside an asp file? I need to execute a php file in another asp file but i'm not so sure it's possible. My server can run both asp and php and they run without any problems... I just need to find a way to include the execution results of the php file in the asp one. Is it possible to use SSI and include the executed php file and then the executed asp file in a main ssi file?
I have installed PWS in windows 98 in each of the system at various places and put my Sales program files in the WWWROOT directory in all the branches. I'm afraid that the users may tamper my ASP files. Is there any way of converting .ASP files to .exe files so that the dont see my program.
i have a database Access with Book Table and Author Table. now i have created a form which inserts info submitted into the Book Table, yet it keeps giving me this error "You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table 'Author' " while the names of the authors are all registered.
it works in Access but not in asp it doesn't make much sense. People just enter the names of the books which their authors are in the Author table. it keeps giving me error. how to know why this is so?
Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E14) [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Could not bulk insert. File 'c:mydata.csv' does not exist.
My mydata.csv file is inside the directory i stated. But why does the server complains that the file is not fould?
My codings:
strSQL = "BULK INSERT NAME FROM 'c:mydata.csv' WITH (FIELDTERMINATOR = ',',ROWTERMINATOR =

Response.Write ("test") Set oRS = conn.Execute(strSQL)
I'm using ASP + MS SQL. I wrote a simple insert into command but nothing is happening... it gave no error and no information is stored in the db. When I response.write my SQL, I got the following:
INSERT INTO [blog_entries](title,user,entry,date) VALUES('test','admin','test','Tuesday, December 25, 2007')
I'm wondering if it's possible to create an instance of an ADO Recordset and add values to it by ASP ??
Ex : I have 2 arrays : arr1 = Array(1,"allo") arr2 = Array(2,"bonjour")
Is it possible to add these 2 arrays into a Recordset to manipulate de data more easily? If yes, could you provide me with a little example to see the synthax, because I tried almost everything and it didn't worked at all
i've tested my code and it seems to send back an error, when i'm trying to insert a record into my db (sql server) Basically when I udpate one of the records it's fine ( I update at a certain "productID") But when I insert a new record it sends back an error telling me that my "productID" can't be a null value?Any ideas on how to fix this?
The ChageCount column cannot have nulls and must be unique. is there a way when I'm adding a new charge, i can check to see if a chargecount exists? For example, if inserting a new record, it will first check if there is a chargecount, if there is not, it will make it 1. if there is a charge count, it will +1 to the existing chargecount
Im doing a update page and noticed this error, whenever you want to write for example "can't, i've" it errors on submit, but characters like "." are okay. Why doesn't it like these characters and how can i make it like them? I need some extra code?
I have the folllowing page where a user can add a review to the website. So far the page works fine, but on the review rating section I know that the rating is between 0 - 5.
But its posible for a user to enter 1000 if they wished, which still means the page works but the answer is too high.
Also if they write text in the field it errors the page. How do i code this so that they can only enter a number between 0 and 5 and only a number and not text.
