I created an upload page.. using ASP. It works fine but there seems to be a problem with the javascript field validations I wrote. There is a Paper title and upload extension validation in the page... when people use netscape and submit it... nothing is happening...
but the paper is being uploaded... doesn't go to the confimation page... and if they use Explorer and try to submit the paper again... it gives a 'File already Exists' error as they already submitted using Netscape.. Can any one help me fix this problem so that it works fine with both browsers... or is there a way I can write a server side validation? HERE IS MY CODE:
This works fine, the form details are collected by RegDetails.asp
I am attempting to include javascript server side validation for the pasword, which obviously requires password and password2 fields (to be verified). I have used the script available at:
I had created a form in asp which contains javascript for validation of form elements.Javascript validation works fine if scripting is enabled in Tools->Internet options->Security->Internet->Customlevel->Scripting is enabled on client machine.
But if scripting is disabled on client machine, javascript validation does not work.Is there any solution to this problem or can we programmatically enable scripting option in internet settings?
I tried a search for my question but didn't get anything. I have a bunch of ASP pages that use a session variable to restirct access. I put it in an include file that is called at the top of each page.
This same site also has a bunch of HTML pages that also require restricted access by the same users of the asp pages. However the HTML pages are using javascipt. I'd like to use the same inlcude file for user login validation, but I don't know how to do it. Anyone have a suggestion?
I have a form that has two date fields, would like to validate both of them before proceeding. Have code that works really well for one field. Have also discovered that when doing validation that it is best to use only one javascript function, not two or more (because if one passes and one fails it will proceed!!!).
I need to call a javascript function. That function has several parts to it. On pass let the valid = true, on fail alert button. So far so good.
In the form it would look like onSubmit validform(). I dont send any at this stage. But in the function itself I need to test on field and then another. Code:
I have an ASP application which gathers information to put in a database via some forms - I would like to do the form validation (making sure some fields are not empty) with a Javascript script inside the ASP file - what is the syntax for doing this? Usually I would place the javascript inside the <head> tags, but ASP files don't have those.
i have two pages i can't get validated, one is my contact page and another with a slideshow, the two have a form and this doesn't seem to be agreeing with the validator.error messages like form 'name' isn't allowed,i changed this to a 'hidden' element, but then my form stops working
I have a timesheet type form that has 40 different row - each row has two dropdowns, one for a project and one for a task, and a dropdown box for each day of the week. Once a project and task has been selected, hours spent on that task each day of the week are entered into the text boxes.
What I would ideally like to do is, before I send this page for processing on my asp page (which involves saving the data back to the database), I'd like to check whether or not the user has entered the same project/task combination on multiple rows.....the dropdowns on each row are named project1-project40, task1-task40, mon1-mon40 etc.
I'm using VBScript for the server side scripting, but I'll happily incorporate a section of Javascript code if that will offer me a simpler solution.
I got a ASP page where one can add a record or update any existing records. As soon as a record is added it is appended to the existing records. With this design user can check for erors in existing records or the added record. Initially, there was ino data validation rule.
Now, as soon as I am putting data validation via script, I cannot update the exisiting data as the validation looks for empty space in the text boxes meant for adding data. Is there any way, I can avoid this situation and can update existing records. If this is possible, how does one validate the existing records.
I am just a beginner in ASP and need your experiences. I want to display a popup menu written in JavaScript on some links in a page. This popup menu will be multileveled. And when the mouse comes over an item in the menu File System Objects code will execute. Here is an example: Code:
I'm having some fits with getting this to work but I'm near the end and I'm hoping this one obstacle is not a huge one to get past. Here's my scenario: I have a page where when someone clicks on a dropdown and selects an item, it will hide 2 other dropdown boxes that are related as the input in those are applicable. When I save those items, everything gets into the db fine. The problem is when the page refreshes, those 2 related dropdown boxes that should be not visible are still visible. Is there a way in VBScript to hide/show those controls based on the data in dropdown A? Javascript is handling the actions but I don't think I can call Javascript on page load.
I display an HTML Report on the screen and have a print button on the page. The print button uses the following JavaScript code.
onClick="window.print()"
Works great except it displayed the print dialog box and the user must hit the print button on the diaglog box to print the report. Is there any way to print the Web Page directly without displaying the Print Dialog Box?
I'm trying to make a confirm window for my site, the confirmation ask user a question with yes or no answer then if the response is yes redirects the user to a page and if its no redirects to another page. The problem is that i need the two pages to carry a different querystring; also i need this to act as a link and not as a form.
I want to pull data from a number of tables, Categories, SubCategroies and then place into JavaScript drop downs and have the options in the second drop down change upon the selection from the 1st drop down. Is this possible.? How is it done..? Arrays..?
I have created a JavaScript function to validate values of a parameter. Let's say validate(parm). I have saved the entire file as validate.inc and included in my ASP page as: <!--#include virtual="/Validate.inc"-->
Now from an ASP page I want to call JavaScript validate function and pass on a parameter, X, to validate. How do I call a JavaScript function from an ASP page?
I want to know when we embed javascript or vbscript in asp pages where the script runs whether on client's browser or web server? also is there any possibilities like in asp.net we have "runat" wherein we can specify sever or client option available when we are programing in asp.
I've been playing with the idea of just how to use an ASP page to provide a remote function call. In an ideal world this would be a web service but how can you do it if restricted to ASP 3.0 ?
Idea 1 was to write an ASP page that accepted arguments using the classic ?X=1&Y=2 type of strings and have the page return an ADO disconnected record set containing the results of the action. This is call very well, and works, but you do have to allow the browser to create an ADODB.RecordSet in which to place the results which goes against some security principles. Code:
I want to print a complete asp page without using Javascript command window.print(). I want to print current web page in backgroud withot displaying printer dialog. Can you give me some information.
how would I go doing it without javascript and using 'POST'?
Having a page with a variable list of items in a shopcart, each item with its own 'remove' button. How could I do this without a javascript and using POST as the form type? (so having <a href="page.htm?remove=2> is not possible)
Create the following code from database but does not validate on enter - I am using ShadowWizards validation code.
<Input fields so work however I will need dropdown and radio buttons to be validated also.
I really like the work ShadowWizard has put in and would like to continue in the same neat, cleaver coded way!
I did validate the few fields with ASP but Yahoo toolbar stops people going back on forms and therefor would not work on all PC's, typically the bosses and now he seems to want it asap so any javascript solution? Code:
I have a simple form to accept two form fields and display the values entered on pressing the submit button. The following is the form I have created to accept the two entries and display the form fields on pressing the submit form. It does not work can somebody please correct the code or provide a simple equivalent code where I can have the form and the validation and usage of the form values in the same ASP page.
I have a validate.inc file for my form (ASP). I want to make a validation without external file, i want to write it in the main page, where the whole code is writing, like validation in ASP.NET, a link about that will be helpful too.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to validate form fields using the dreamweaver server behaviours except using javascript. Basically I need a method of validating each form field when the form is submitted. I don't want to use javascript as I know that users can switch 'active scriting' off, which disables javascript. Due to the forms being critical inputs within an e-commerce system, I must validate them 'server-side'. Is their a dreameaver extension that does this or has anyone over come this issue before?

I have two pages, one called "test1" and another called "test2" Is there any way I can check that a person has come from test1 when they go to the url "test2"? Or would it be easier to create a session on test1 and then check for that session on the test2?
If the latter, then can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial suitable for this?

I have individual dropdown boxes for selecting day/month/year for start date and then the same for selecting end date. I have two javascript functions for validation. I have one submit button on the form. The asp code is below. I know each javascript function works in its own right. That is posted below the asp. My problem is to get the functions to validate both start and end dates on one click of the submit button. How it is at the moment, it will validate the first - start date- but throws an error (type mismatch CDate)on the End date.....
I have been trying to use a function that checks that an email is syntactically correct (ie. it contains @ and .), however I have given up with the method I was trying - at the end of my tether I was. I would like something in the form of one of my other validation msgs below. Any ideas? Code:
