When using the Response.Redirect in test1.asp in this manner:
Response.Redirect ("test2.asp?err=something&msg=somethingelse")
You can pass values calculated in test1.asp to test2.asp.
But this is a round trip redirect - and also shows passed values in
the address bar.
But when using Server.Transfer, as in:
Server.Transfer ("test2.asp?err=something&msg=somethingelse")
This is apparently not allowed, as I get an error claiming that
non-relative references in the path of the file are not allowed.
My question is:
*Without* using application or session stores, how can you pass values
between pages called in this manner - values that are not a part of
the originally submitted information?
I first retrieve the values stored in a session variable (where I have stored an array). Then I assign the session variable to a local array called "myarray".
Assume that "myarray" now contains 5 records. What would the code look like if I want to create a loop that transfers the 5 values from "myarray" into a select box/dropdown list?
How is that done?
I have a form that is posting to itself. Does the necessary validation on the data.
Once it passes all validation, it is redirected to another page. I need to access the data that was submitted on the first page on the redirected page.
I know you can pass your data along via URL but I am unsure how to access the data once it is in URL form.
I also read that you can use Server.transfer and access your form objects with request.form(var_name).
1) User selects something from an ASP generated list
2) Javascript then populates a nearby div with the text from this list
HTML/ASP: Code:
I have javascript calander in the form of three list boxes (day, month, year). when selected I would like the values to put into a text field in Dreamweaver so I can then submit to the database. Is this possible and how could it be achieved.

I want to have a popup confirmation dialog using JavaScript and only have a button control execute its ASP code if the confirmation is positive. I can associate the JavaScript with the button using the Attributes property and get the confirmation dialog to appear but the button control always executes.
View Replies View RelatedI wanna store a javaScript value in a session variable. so i wanna do something like
<%session("test123")=%> GetE('txtTargetPage').value
I know that is wrong, but how do i do it? I am using hidden for fields in other places
The reason I want to place this one in a session is that what the code is doing is creating a form for the user and if it creates a hidden field it creates it outside the form. so i therefore have to use a session variable. Is this possible?
Any idea what is causing this error? 006~ASP
0230~Server.Transfer Error~The call to Server.Transfer
failed while loading the page.
Just read about benefits of Server.Transfer over
Response.Redirect, replaced, and getting the error.
I want to call a recordset so you can edit the details and then obviously pass the parameters onwards into the db. However, the user guide just says this:
To process other fields in the form, use the Form collection of the upload object the same way you would use the Form collection of the Request object. For example, if your form had a text element named UserName, your processing code would include: Code:
i need to convert the escape values which are by mistake updated in DB.
example:
this is a sample text string
is updated in DB as
this%20is%20a%20sample%20text%20string
here %20 is the space.
like wise there are many entries for :,'
is there way that i can update all this in a update statement?
or use asp to to update the records?
I have 2 pages the first one has a text box, beside the text box there is a link when you click the link new window will come, and this window has a table retrieve the employee names from the DB, and these names are links, I need when I select the name should transfare to the first page , How ?
View Replies View Relatedi hope no one is getting sick of my server.execute/transfer questions..
does server.execute return a value? im wondering what happens if an error
occurs in the .asp file that i'm calling with the server.execute command??
is there a value/flag i can set in the case of an error that can be seen
once i return to the calling page? if not i was thinking that i would have
to use a session variable for my error handling.
i want to stay true to the model, view, control architecture so i don't want
to simply redirect in the case of an error - i want to send a value back to
my control page which will decide where to go.
I would like to use Server.Transfer to redirect users to a given page,
while maintaining the state of form fields. This works fine on a single
server.
However, this will be deployed in a load balanced environment. I know
that Session variables and load balanced environments don't mix. Do I
have a cause for concern with Server.Transfer as well?
I would like the value of the textfield from text1 from Select_License.asp to be transfered to swname from License_add.asp when i click on the Next button from Select_License.asp ....
