Loading Content Of *.txt File Via Asp Dynamically To Browser...

I'm using a flat text file in place of sessions to run my shopping cart. I have a couple different asps' that manipulate the session file to preform tasks like deleting items and updating quantities. The file stores one product along with the user selected options per line so it looks something like this:

product, color, qty, unit_price, selection_total |
product, color, qty, unit_price, selection_total |
...

Storing Content In DB And Presenting It In Browser

I've got a bit of a problem which I need sorting. I'm creating a news system on our work intranet. The main content is entered into a textarea which most people will use as a simple text editor (carriage returns for paragraphs).

The advanced users will be able to enter HTML tags for more advanced articles (lists, character formatting etc). The problem comes when I'm rendering the text.

At the moment, I'm storing the content as it is submitted (carriage returns are stored as carriage returns, not <br>'s). When rendering the articles to the screen, I replace the carriage returns for <br>'s.

The reason I don't convert the carriage returns to <br>'s on submission is incase the content needs to be rendered for another program/platform in the future (we use all sorts of software from the same database at work so it is a possibility at the moment). Code:

Browser Based Content Management System

Our organization's web site requires a lot of content updates. I like to develop a browser based content management system in asp. I like to show my end users
exactly live format of our web site into edit mode so that they can just go there and change the text, or text within a table, or change a link. Is there any ASP component that can help me to develop this?

Slow Loading Of An XML File

I'm reading an XML file in my ASP script which then uses XSL to format the output. However, the script takes a long time to load the script, almost 30 seconds. Code:

set xml = Server.CreateObject("Msxml2.DOMDocument.4.0")
xml.async = false
xml.load(Server.MapPath("XMLTestfile.xml"))

Does anyone know why the webserver will all of the sudden take so long to load the file when it used to work almost instantly?

Loading A Texthtml File Into A Text Box

What I'm trying to do is simply to allow a user to select a file on their local computer, and load the contents of it into a multiline text box. At the same time I would like to avoid any activex if possible.

The other option I suppose would be to just load the contents of the file directly into a database, but I'm sure the former is possible.

Rss.xml File Dynamically Has Issues

Creating an rss.xml file dynamically via ASP/ADO/DB, but find errors in the
file.

Don't think it's an ASP prob to be honest. Think its more to do with the
fact that the ampersands are accepted in the file. Do I take it that you
have to 'escape' all non alphanumeric chars to produce a valid file?

I thought xml files were supposed to eradicate the usual invalid char
problems that tab-delimited and csvs used to have

Dynamically Generate Global.ASA File?

On each site there is a global.asa file that ties into an Access database. The fields from the Access database instantiate the values of session variables used in the site. I am trying to do away with the need for a database and was wondering if when I set up a site I also set the .asa file for that site.

Then if a shop wants to change something like an address, phone, number, directions, etc., they would go a toolbox area of the site and there would be a form whose field values would be populated by the session variables from the global.asa file.

When the form was submitted I was thinking I could somehow use asp to write a new global.asa file and store it in the server. Is this feasible? Also, what would this mean insofar as permissions on the root directory of the site? I'd imagine they'd have to have write permissions no? Code:
