I have created a dynamic form ,different under different conditions. The elements of the page are dynamically created with the required infor . coming from tables. Now, i have to store the values, states of all individual elements of the form, for future processing . The values are the part of a survey. I hav to analyse the values and create a report.
Now , i m getting confused in the way , the values of all dynamic fields to be stored. I m not getting a good way to store the values and later process for survey analysis.
I've been looking at pure ASP solutions to uploading a file from a form, and I'm a bit confused just on the logic. Each solution I've seen includes a binary read of all of the POST data and a parse to find the file.
Why can't the request.form collection just be used to get the binary directly? I mean, even if the request.form collection reads an ASCII value, isn't ASCII just an interpretation of binary (so shouldn't we be able to simply write it to a file and be done with it)?
I'm currently developing a website in which i want a have a simple survery. The survey will run for three pages. [survery1.htm,survery2.htm,survery3.htm]
I guess i have to use forms to do this, but don't know how? How do i maintain the user input details in the survery1.htm and carry it forward to the successive pages while getting the survery2.htm ?
In simple terms, How do i pass the user input details from one page to other page and finally forward them to an email address? I would very much appreciate if someone can send me a model or where i can get one.
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good Survey apps available in ASP, most i have seen are .NET. Also, free would would be ideal.
There are lots out there, but ideally i'd liek to see one that allows for things like, "If this does not Apply, you will be sent directly to question 14", etc.
I am going to be working on a project that is a web based survey that will submit the data to a database. But the data will also need to be multiplied by a number and displayed back to the user with some text. And was wondering if anyone had any good resources or samples I could check out I really appreciate any response.
In database exist survey results. Specific results from multiple choice - multiple answer survey (checkbox) are in tbl_results table (example excerpt):
table answers has ID numbers of answered answers, delimited. Anybody has solution to use those ID numbers as foreign key against table tbl_answers, in order to make possibility to make query for better statistics .
i m currently setting up a staff survey, which will be linked from the website of our company. In the past this has been all hard-copy and decisions been made to put it online, and the job was assigned to me.
I've somehow managed to link to HTML form to the database, with the user completing the survey complete with validation to ensure they have not ommited any fields.
how do I prevent a user entering their username with a different employee number? bearing in mind i will have already input all staff username and employee number into the database. So that when the user enters these fields, the database write the survey to that particular record. I think i just need more code for validation, but I'm clueless as to what i require.
I have a questionnaire that I want a user to fill out. If you click on the link, you should be able to see the workflow. I was wondering what the best way of doing this was? To have seperate pages? One page?
what is the best way to develop a database for a survey? How should I name the columns in the database? I have an survey to develop and some of the questions have up to 80 answer options + quantity for the options.
For example, I have a list of truck models from different manufacturers (eg: John Deere[304, 444, 544, 624...], NewHolland[LW50, LW110, LW130...]. The person filling out the survey needs to be able to select from none to all of items and this would only be question #1.
That means if the person filling out the survey select JD 304 and NH LW110 I'll have a total of four entries one for each of the trucks and one of quantity for each of the trucks. If I use a column for each possible answer, I'll end up with about 1000 columns what to me wouldn't be a very well developed database. Anyone has done anything similar? Any ideas?
i'm thinking about making a muti page survey and was looking for some input on the best way to go about it. example
i want 3 questions on the first page, the user answers then hits next the next questions load and so on. what would be the best way of programming this?
I am in the process of building a Simple Survey, and I am having trouble getting started. I have put together my html form, and now I need to build my "survey.asp" page to communicate with my Access database. I have designed my database to have 3 tables: Department, Contract, Survey. Code:
I am in the process of building a Simple Survey, and I am having trouble getting started. I have put together my html form, and now I need to build my "survey.asp" page to communicate with my Access database. I have designed my database to have 3 tables: Department, Contract, Survey.
Basically from each question the Survey Table will be populated. The survey table is in this format [SurvID (prim key), ques1, ques2, ...contractID.]
So if a user on question 1 clicked radio button "1radio1" then the number one should populate "ques1" field etc. Same goes for question 5, if the user chooses "5radioN" then "N" would populate the "ques5" field.
Also on there will be a drop down menu on the top of the page where the employee can choose the contractID. How would I incorporate that as well? Code:
as i enter text in the textbox i want to narrow down there result in the box below that has all the listing of the products. i.e as i enter 'a' in textbox it will filter all products starting with 'a' then if i enter 'b' as second character it will show onlythose products that are starting with 'ab'... so how could i do that.
I have an MySQL query that counts the number of clients that have been added in the last week.
strsql = "SELECT COUNT(visitorref) As no_visitors FROM visitors WHER datediff(curdate(),date(loa))<="&weekday(date())-1&" AND client_count IS NULL"
This works fine for Monday through Friday. But, I want to change the week etaphorically speaking! ) to run from Thursday to Wednesday, so on a Tuesday it'll show the count from last Thursday to the Tuesday.I'm gradually beginning to think I can't do it this easily anymore and just can't figure out what I want the datediff to equal.
Write an exe/dll (which will be better please tell me)..which has code to only control my logic or rather data conversion/manipulation of the raw data recieved thru and .mdb file and then display the exe/dll manipulated data thru an asp page.??
I am working on this for someone: the user sees a list of chocolates which they can click on to add to a virtual chocolate box.
Each choc. is represented as an image of the choc - clicking on the image adds that choc. into a db. storing the product id of the selected choc. The user can select 8 chocolates. When the box is full, they can select no more chocolates.
I loop through the db. to display the number of chocs in the cart, like this: Code:
Up until now I have mostly used a script that I got from somewhere way back for adding the page navigation on a results page ie. << 1 2 3 .. 4 5 6 >>
Ive decided to make my own but there seams to be too many cases/options in my script.I am using an array to store my results so if anyone knows a place where I can view a simple one or even some logic behind it.
We need to create an org chart from our employee data but struglling. We are using ASP with SQL Server 2000. Does anyone know of a commercial component or some sample code to help us get started?
Ideally a component will be great as we need to turn this around quite quickly and also the chart needs to be interactive so various nodes can be hidden or expanded by the user. Many of you have been in development and I am sure would have been asked to present the employee or similar hierarchical data in tree structure.
i am having a hard time finding out whats wrong i get the users login name from the first page and then i have this page which displays the abstracts

I am using access with sch_time_start,end,start_time,end as text fields not as Date/time....I am getting wrong amount of record...Example:
If db has 6 records like start_time and end_time = 12:00 AM- 05:15 AM, and person has sch_time_start and sch_time_end = 12:15 AM-05:12 AM.....I am missing smth...maybe logic is wrong.. Code:
Something is not right when I generate the results for assigning drivers to routes...My [ response.Write(rs5.recordcount & " " & rs5("Tot") & " " & rs1("Full_Part") & "<br>") ]
The rs5("Tot") is always zero when the recordcount is 1...with rs5 I am trying to control not to assing more than 42 hours for full timers and 22 hours for part-time drivers per week.... What is wrong with the logic ?
I´m having a problem using ASP Upload with an insert form..
If I use ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" the all the parametres i might get with request.form don´t appear.. but i can upload the files.. Besides if I take away the ENCTYPE tag, i can´t upload but the INSERT INTO form works propertly
my form contains two text fields(name, address) and two file field control where user can insert image(photo1 and photo2), i want to insert this data in to ms access when the user submits the form?
this is my code for insert text fields to access data base.but i have no idea about the code for image fields. In my access data base i set photo1 and photo2 as herf (binary data). Code:
I have a form that is dynamically generated since it is populated with values retrieved from a database. The form can of course also be submitted, which is where I run into some problems.
Since I never know in advance what the length of the form (or for that matter what the different elements' names and values) will be I don't know how to write the code in "receive.asp" to retrieve all values from the form correctly without excess use of "request.....".
I shouldn't have to write requests for every single potential element name that is stored in the DB. Please note that the form can sometimes also contain radio buttons and check boxes, even though they are not present in this short example Code:
This works fine, the form details are collected by RegDetails.asp
I am attempting to include javascript server side validation for the pasword, which obviously requires password and password2 fields (to be verified). I have used the script available at:
I have a form on an ASP page that has 5 text boxes, for data entry. I am trying to get data from the text box, and pass it to a hidden text box on the form.
The hidden text box is called "MyDateTime" (a SQL date and time value). I am attempting to concatenate data from two other textboxes (one for date and one for time) to give a string like : "8/8/2004 8:00 AM" I am trying to use the following: Code:
I have some ASP server-side code that works perfectly when the client is running on Windows (IE, Netscape, Firefox, etc.) but doesn't work at all when the client is running on Macintosh (IE, Omniweb, Safari, etc.) This is the client-side Javascript code:
