Is there any way to extract the form elements' value without submitting the form. I want the value of the form element be used in the script written in the same page without submitting the form.
for j = 1 to totalManagers2 Response.Write("# in J loop:" & j & "<br/>") If Request.Form("j") = "on" Then myToField = myToField + recipiant(j) Response.Write("recipiant's email is :" & recipiant(j) & "<br/>") validRecipiant = true End if next
My problem lies with line ' "If Request.Form("j") = "on" Then '...
Now on the first page, I have a form, which I dynamically populate a table, and for each row, I output an HTML checkbox. I assign the name of that check box to a # that is incremented within the for-loop that is outputting all the HTML table rows.
So I have check boxes with name attributes such as "1", "2", "3", "4" and so on.
My question is, on the next page, how do I tell if those check boxes are checked? I use the Request.Form("1"), Request.Form("2"), Request.Form("3"), Request.Form("4") and so on.
But as you can see, in my For-Loop, I'm just checking this... Request.Form(1), Request.Form(2)...and so on ....
So I am ignoring the quotation marks...how can I include them so the code knows to look at the form for the name attribute of "1" and not just 1?
I have about 30 worker names (and their IDs in hidden fields) in one form, beside each worker I have a dropdown list with same items. When I select an item from dropdown list its ID is written in another hidden field. I want to submit values from hidden fields into another .asp page and sql db. If I use :
<% FOR EACH name IN Request.Form Response.Write("<BR>") Response.Write(Request.Form(name)) NEXT %>
I get only values from dropdown lists IDs. how to loop through all fields and get IDs of workers, too.
I am trying to build a dynamic form based on user input.
Here is the story i want a user to select how many times he/she wants to add a product and then depending on the number selected draw x number of input boxes for product name, price etc.
Then pass this to another page, store in an array and add all this to a database!
I have a table in which I count the rows, and for each record it finds it uses that number to dynamically name the form field. i.e.
<input type=text name="FirstName<%=i%>">
I got that to work just fine. What I'm trying to do now, is post the form, and on the new page dynamically create cookies based on the number of form fields there are. For example, my desired end result would look something like this..
i have an sms phone book that allows users to send multiple sms from the internet to a cell phone.
However when a users chooses to send bulk, it inserts the numbers into a textfield box seperated by commas. Which are in turn passed to the server side to be sent.
PROBLEM Now i would want to seperate each number and loop through them e.g
numbers could be : Note they are seperated by comma
How at the start of script can I dynamically loop through all Request.form variables and use them ? either name or the value, both is the ideal though.
example.
have a form:
2 textfields. named "text1" and "text2"
In asp I need to dynamically grab this data not knowing that this form had the textfields "text1" and "text2".
When you submit the form you can see I am trying to get the each row of the form elements into a format such that I can build multiple insert statements. Here is what I am working with:
<% Dim x For x = 1 to Request.Form.Count Response.Write Request.Form.Item(x) Next
Would I use some type of Mod operator on the value of x to determine my line breaks?
I have created an email form in which all fields must be completed. If all the fields are not completed "submit" causes a refresh using response.redirect, Problem is allthe fields that were previously filled in are empty. How do I keep the values of the fields on refresh?
I have one customer request form. and in this for we have combo box with 3 selection i.e.

just manged to get an image retireval search engine working. The ASP script works fine, my query results are filepaths of images.
i structured a query in within asp to obtain images which have similar textual values. It is more of a cosmetic issue. when i get my query results back, my script prints or displays the images from top to bottom. which means i have to scroll vertically up and down the asp page over 10-30 images. Code:
I'm trying to display the username by requesting the cookie from the login page and I'm getting a page that only display "Hello" and not the username. Code:
I am trying to build a simple image gallery, that displays image form the files on web server and displays it on webpage.
I tried, but it gives an error:
Quote: Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0113 (0x80004005)
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.
I am trying to build a page in ASP/MSsql with the aid of dreamweaver, the page contains total of 6 Questions, each question has 3 choices, of which one of the choice contains the right answer with a hidden value = to 1 and the wrong choice hidden value = to 0. What i am trying to achieve is to collect the values and insert it to a database and at the same time display the results on the confirmation page.
Collecting data’s and inserting to the database is not a problem which i am able to do it. The area that i am stuck is the possibility to collect the values, adds the number of right answers (e.g. 1+1+0+0+1+0 = 3) and displays it on the confirmation page. I was thinking if it was possible to use cookies for this, like storing the values Q1 = 1 when it is correct and Q1 = 0 when it is wrong while submitting the form and the confirmation page retrieves the values from the cookies, addition the number of right answers ( Q1+Q2+….Q6) and display it on the page.
E.g. the confirmation page displays: Your score is 2 out of 6.
I am using this script to submit my form fields into the body of my email:
*********************************************** Dim strBody dim ix, formElementName, formElementValue strBody = "Results of form submitted at " & Now() & vbCrLf & CrLf For ix = 1 to Request.Form.Count formElementName = Request.Form.Key(ix) formElementValue = Request.Form.Item(ix) strBody = strBody & (formElementName & ": " & formElementValue & vbCrLf) Next
*********************************************** I'm completely new to vbscript and have been searching all over the net for an example of this script being used with mutliple fields with absolutely no luck.
The closest I've come to getting something back from this thing is when I tested the script with these elements:
Its seems the answer to my problem lies in defining the 'Key' and possibly the 'Item' parameters but I haven't been able to find any documentation on these terms. Can someone out there please save me from what probably is a very simple solution?
I´m having a problem using ASP Upload with an insert form..

my form contains two text fields(name, address) and two file field control where user can insert image(photo1 and photo2), i want to insert this data in to ms access when the user submits the form?

I have a form that is dynamically generated since it is populated with values retrieved from a database. The form can of course also be submitted, which is where I run into some problems.
Since I never know in advance what the length of the form (or for that matter what the different elements' names and values) will be I don't know how to write the code in "receive.asp" to retrieve all values from the form correctly without excess use of "request.....".
I shouldn't have to write requests for every single potential element name that is stored in the DB. Please note that the form can sometimes also contain radio buttons and check boxes, even though they are not present in this short example Code:
This works fine, the form details are collected by RegDetails.asp
I am attempting to include javascript server side validation for the pasword, which obviously requires password and password2 fields (to be verified). I have used the script available at:
I have a form on an ASP page that has 5 text boxes, for data entry. I am trying to get data from the text box, and pass it to a hidden text box on the form.
The hidden text box is called "MyDateTime" (a SQL date and time value). I am attempting to concatenate data from two other textboxes (one for date and one for time) to give a string like : "8/8/2004 8:00 AM" I am trying to use the following: Code:
I have some ASP server-side code that works perfectly when the client is running on Windows (IE, Netscape, Firefox, etc.) but doesn't work at all when the client is running on Macintosh (IE, Omniweb, Safari, etc.) This is the client-side Javascript code:
Im having problems with my form, separately both forms work perfectly, but having problem sending the email once submitted, however the upload fuction is working fine. The message im getting is,
Request object error 'ASP 0207 : 80004005'

Would anyone be able to give some guideance in ASP code as to how I would repeat a section of input fields in a form based upon the number of guests that are attending an event?
Basically, what needs to happen is if 3 guests are attending, I need the Name, address, city, state fields to repeat so they can be filled in with information.
Then all of the information from the whole form is submitted which returns an email to the administrator of the event.
I have a series a forms that submit data to different tables in a database. As it stands, when a user completes FORM 1 and clicks the SUBMIT button, the FORM 1 data is submitted (action = form2.asp, method = post) to ASP code at the top of FORM 2 (request.form("form1 field name") etc...), and submitted to the database with SQL code, also at the top of FORM 2(INSERT into...). Hence the submit button on FORM 1 directs the user to FORM 2, and submits the data which is exaclty what I wanted. However, I now need the users to submit multiple sets of data with FORM 1, and direct them to FORM 2 once they have finished using FORM 1. Most importantly, I need to pass a few parameters from FORM 1 to FORM 2, and have these parameters submitted to the database.
My main problem is getting a fresh form1 after submiting the same form1, in preparation for anoter set of data using the same form. Basically, the database has 'one to many' relationship tables. Form1 and form2 are both populating the 'many' tables, so that each form needs to be filled-in several times while retaining the key field of the 'one' table. At the moment submiting form1 takes me to form2. Is is possible to submit the data to the database, get form1 back again to submit more data, as many times as required, then click another button to load form2 when the user is finished with form1?
Can anyone please give me some pointers? or at least explain the concept of what I need to do. I am a novice and it's taking me a while to get to this stage. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to post FORM1 to itself and insert the data (i.e. place the request.form at the top of FORM 1) If so, how do I direct users to FORM 2 while retaining my parameters?
I have a simple form to accept two form fields and display the values entered on pressing the submit button. The following is the form I have created to accept the two entries and display the form fields on pressing the submit form. It does not work can somebody please correct the code or provide a simple equivalent code where I can have the form and the validation and usage of the form values in the same ASP page.
