I am using a modal window and an iFrame to try and pull a return value
back. I am doing this across domains.
I have the value returned from the modal window to the iFrame window
but I can not get the value returned to the parent window. The alert
in the parent window always returns undefined errors. Code:

Is it possible to post the form data and open the page as a modal window?
Because when I do the following, it will open page2.asp in a new window, but
I still able to manipulate page1.asp. I want to make page2.asp as modal
window.

I want to provide a lookup facility for users to select a code from a list. I want this to be done in a small popup window, which, when a code is selected, will close down and return the selected value to the main form. Can this be done ??
View Replies View RelatedI'am not familiar wit ASP but I have to maintain an application. In a window there are some text selection fields and a search button. If you press on the search button record list is build according to what is filled in the selection fields. You can select a record and then a detailed window is shown or in another occasion a popup window is shown.
The request is now if the opened window or popup window is closed, then the opener window has to be opened with the same content (content selection fields + record list) as it was before the window or popup is opened.
Now I thought that I have read that every window which is opened gets an ID and that it is possible to call up that window by the ID from the cache again. Is that right? And if so? Or has somebody a better idea. Code:
I would have liked to submit a form from a modal web dialog, i.e. a window
opened using showModalDialog() in which there is a form to submit. I thought the
dialog content would be replaced with the submitted page results but I saw a new
instance of MSIE instead.
Is this behaviour normal (I mean expected)? (How) can I replace a web dialog
content with submission page (i.e. the url in the form "action" attribute)

Now, the asp page is a form that submits to itself and so the modal dialog
contains a form that submits to itself.
This is fine except that submitting the form opens a new window.
what I would like to happen is submit the form and it comes back to display
itself in the modal dialog again. if the form processing detects an error I
will leave the form displayed, if no error is detected then I will close the
window using some client side javascript.
however I am having trouble getting the modal dialog form to submit back to
itself and redisplay again within the modal dialog.

I want to return a 404 response from an ASP script (IIS 5).
Response.Status lets me set the response string, but if I don't include any
HTML text myself, the result is an empty page.
Is there a way to 'redirect' it to the server's default 404 response, as if

I am trying to replace a huge chunck of code that currently I incorporate
with an #Include directive. The program rarely has to flow through that
code, so I thought it would be better if I used Server.Execute.
I found I can pass data TO the called asp file by creating an HTML <input>
and erading it after I get there.
However, I also need to read back ONE variable that the called file must
set. I cannot figuer out how to do that. My backup positions are (1) I can
keep on using the #Include technique, and (2) I can use a database to bridge

I am using a stored procedure to insert set of values to a table.I am generating or calculating the value of the primary key and inserting that record and i need that value to use in my application so is there any possibilty to return a value from storedprocedure to asp application.

in my SQL select query I have a LEFT JOIN between 2 tables that returns a

My SQL statement won't return results where any field in a record is blank. What can I do to fix this?

I've got an Access database with a memo field with large amounts of text in. In Access forms the text appears with line breaks where the enter key has been pressed. I'm using ASP to display this content on a simple webpage but want it to appear with the same line breaks as in the Access forms.
