Most Popular Values In A Recordset
I am trying to soleve the following problem using an asp recordset (connects to sql)
A column in the recordset contains integers between 1 and 5. I am trying to find a way of concluding which integer is the most common, then the second most common, then the third. (In the event of a tie, the higher integer 'wins').
Hence if in the record set there were 5 1s, 4 2s, 7 3s, 1 4 and 5 5s the output would be Most popular = 7, send most popular = 1 and third most popular = 5. I am familiar with rhe recordset objects ie looping through the records etc .

I'm again having trouble putting ASP records INSIDE html link.

I have an interesting situation that needs to be addressed ASAP.
I am running a standard SQL Query in ASP to retrieve some rows/columns from a table that's on a SQL Server 2000 database. I put the results of that query into a RecordSet, and then use the GetRows function to push the results that are in the recordset into an array variable. In the query that I am running, 39 columns and 2 rows are returned.
The GetRows function appears to be working - the array variable is being created with the proper dimensions. However, the values of the different "cells" of the array are not showing up correctly. The first and the last column values for each row are correct, yet everything else in between is blank, empty, NULL, or whatever.
In other words: ArrayVariable(0,0) shows up correctly, ArrayVariable(38,0) shows up correctly, but everything in between is null.
I did a test on the RecordSet and discovered that it was the culprit - it wasn't being filled in properly. This is strange, though, because the select query that I run in the ASP code to create the recordset returns perfect results when I run it on the SQL Server 2K database.

I have a main data entry form which has a link to a detailed data entry form. The value of the link in the main form is the sum total of all the line items in the detailed form. The detailed form has fields to capture the individual line items like contracted service expense, travel expense etc. I am capturing the total of individual line items using session variables so that when the values of the main form is saved these total of line item values get saved. However, if one gets to the mainform via login and tries to resave the values (which is already saved), the above session variables (from the detailed form that contains the sum of line items) get null values. However, just navigating to the detailed form through the link and coming back to the main form sets the value in the session variables.My question is how to get the session variable values without having to go to the detailed form and come back to the main

Using a query statement, I am trying to add values into the textbox of an ASP page to enable users to edit it. But it only displays the first word of the record. The rest of it gets chopped off. Code:

I have a database set up for a survey where in the Answers table I have columns QuestionID, SurveyID, and Answer. Because my survey has about 300 possible questions it's impossible to make a column for each answer. So if I need to select the answers from a specific survey for a specific question and I have about 50 entered in the database my loop will have go keep going for about 15000 times. What I'm trying to find out is if there is a way to create a record set by selecting a survey by it's ID and then when I only have about 300 rows in the record set select answer from the record set using the questionID.
This is to update the answers for the survey. Also, another possibility would be update the recordset and then update the database. Is it possible to do that? Any directions to some code?

i ahve a recordset which takes data from a database using the shape command in a SQL statement. now i want it to show the data in a tabular fom such that the parent field has to it's right the child fields with out repeating the parent field again and again. And this done, the child field in the table should have the grandchild fields to is right and as before without repetition of the child field. and all of this in a tabular form!!!
