Need To Load File Path From Web Server Into Text Form Box
I need to load the file path of a file on a web server into a form text box. I tried using a normal form box using type=file but that just seems to return the file path from the local machine.
Ideally I'd like it if someone can get this to work with a file on a web server without using asp. If not then I suppose I'd have to use the FileSystemObject method. I can see how you can get a list of files from a remote server using FileSystemObject.
The problem I need help with is selecting a file path from the list of files into a text form box. The path of which I am then going to write to a database field.
Is there a way to load a text file from a remote server into a string much like using the Inet Control in VB? I am familiar with reading in RSS feeds, but what should I do if the content is a straight text file?
I am trying to create a log of certain events on the website by writing them to a text file. The logging code is in an "included" file that is inserted into the pages that need to be monitored. Currently, the target text file is just specified in the FSO MapPath as "thelog.txt", so it writes the log to a text file within the same folder as the web page.
The problem is that I don't want to grant browsers Write access to my pages folder, so I need to have a separate directory to hold the log text file that browsers can have Write access to. The web site is hosted on a shared server that I do not have direct access to. In the past, occasionally an error has popped up that states the exact location, but I can not get that to repeat. I know it is something like "D:customersmyuseridwww"
How can I find out the actual location on the server so I can use an absolute path to write all the logs to one file in one location?
I am loading a vbscript source file on the client. Here's the code: <script language="VBSCRIPT" src="../vs/systableEdit.vs"> </script>
This code worked on IIS 5.0, Windows 2000 but doesn't work on IIS 6.0, Windows 2003. This is client-side vbscript. I have the parent paths enabled but that only applies to server-side include files, I think. Anyone know why the src does not load and what I should do to fix?
I need to read a simple txt file where there are some variables. I've done this a lot of times but in this case I have something different: the text file is located at an ftp server.
I currently am trying to get a form to send its data to a text file. I use the code I have found in tutorial/help sites around the web, but when I try the code out, nothing happens.
When I click the "Submit" button on my form, I am sent to the .asp file and the code in that file is displayed in the browser. There is nothing written to the text file either.
I have an application which was successfully writing data from submitted forms to a text file in a directory - in this case:
/data/findata.txt
This was fine because the forms lived at the root level with this directory.
Since then I have added enabled the forms to be used on subdirectories :
/subdirectory/myform.asp
I've used the same code for server.mapparth("data") etc - but instead of locating the directory at the root of the server called "data" it looks to the current directory- doesn't find it and creates another! eek!
What I need is a way to say "right, it doesnt matter what level you are at at the moment, always look at the root level /data directory"...
This has to be fairly dynamic - on the development server here its got a different file structure than on the live server (ie, it lives another level down again on the physical drive)...
Anyone got a good idea on how to look back up?
I do have one way to test which level they are at - but I feel that its a bit 'weak' - I have an ID that tells me if they are working on the upper or lower levels (ie, anything other than 1 is a lower level) - whilst I realise I could use this in the test I'm not sure if its going to be 100% fool proof to base this criteria on this ID.
Therefore I was hoping for a better way using the server.mappath etc...
i want create a form that include many text boxes and an fiel field for upload a file to server but when i add "enctype="multipart/form-data" in the form tag i cant get the texts . how can i do a form working with file upload and text fields.
I've got multiple pages on the same server that all have the same drop down boxes in them. It is a list of all our facilities. Every time there is a change, I have to change it on every page. They are in the format below. Is there an easy way to store all that data in a text file so I only have to update it one place?
I have a text file that has two lines in it, the first line gives item labels, my second line gives values for those labels. I would like to use ASP to present this data on a web page. I also want the page to reload every 10 seconds so that any updates to the text file would be relfected on the web page.
I need users to upload and delete pictures on the server from a form. I've done this in PHP before, but in ASP it looks like a different world. I need to do it simply with ASP, and cannot be installing components from the web.
i am having a problem in how to create a Open File dialog to enable user to select a image file that will be stored into database. i just want the file path to be stored in database, not the image.
I have downloaded an ASP WYSIWYG editor but I cant fingure out how to load an asp file into the editor. I think what I need to do is to load the file into the variable and then the editor loads the variable and formats the code accordingly. But I just don't know how to load the asp file into the variable. Here's my code so far:
Set fs=Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set f=fs.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("Test/7610.asp"), 1)
I have 4 computers using Network Load Balancing. They all share 1 Virtual IP to take requests on. I can't tell what server is taking the request when I view a page. I want to make sure the NLB is working correctly. Is there a way to get the name of the machine or something using asp?
I am writing a small CMS type system for our intranet at work and I am trying to have a main "index.asp" that does all the work in a template folder and every time I add a new section instead of making a new copy of this file I would like to have some generic "index.asp" file that is nearly empty that just calls the "template/index.asp" file and let's it do the work.
The way each page in the intranet works is by using the same asp file but by having a few configuration files in their directory that point it to different menus, titles etc.
Is there a way to load an asp file from another one? I tried creating an index.asp containing just <!-- #INCLUDE FILE="templates/index.asp"--> but it doesn't seem to do it.
When I try to open an aspx file located on my computer it doesn't load properly (i.e not all objects are visible like text fields and such) and it gives me a syntax error stating that it expected a semi-colon (;) on one of the lines.
My page language is VB and so no semi-colon is required and when I load the file through my web server by typing http://myIPaddress/myfile.apsx the page loads correctly and functions normally.
Several hard drive formats ago I was able to open aspx files with internet explorer without going through my web server. I am pretty sure I have everything installed like IIS 5.1 and the .NET framework.
I have a subdirectory with it's own images folder. All the image paths in the pages in the sub directory are "image/image.jpg" When I Response.Redirect to a page in the subdirectory the images are fine but when I use Server.Transfer all the links are broken. I'd prefer to use the relative paths. Is there a way around this in the Server.Transfer?
I've got the directory f:CompanyProduct set as web shared so it's got a virtual directory in the default web site on my test server's IIS. If I try to use Server.MapPath in that site it returns a path within c:Inetpubwwwroot rather than the real path.
I have a problem. I tried my best but could not solve is. I have a page where user selects the folder name from a drop down list. It takes user to show.asp page, where it how all the files in the folder and also user can click on them and download them. If I select name of the folder from the list, on show.asp it shows all the files and their link.
When I click on the link then most of the file which has long name and have space in their names wont be hyper linked. For example if files name is Virus Control.vsd or file name is INCIDENT-ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REPORT.htm. If I click on them it will say "The page cannot be found". Code:
I have setup a site that allows users to login with a username and a password that are stored in a mysql database, now what i need to do is set it up so the users can only download specific file(s) related to their username. With my current set up using all asp and iis 5.0 all the users can download the same file from a certain directory. I was thinking of somehow using the session variable of the username as a variable in the download path of the file, but i don't know if this is a correct method of doing this or the correct syntax.
This does not seam to work for me in IE, but does in Netscape? What I am trying to accomplish is this.
On the footer of everypage we have a link that opens a comment page, example [<a href="#" onclick="javascript:view_win(/comment/comments2.asp');" class="notes">Send Comments</a>]. I am trying to write asp code to that takes the referering page and then gives the the filepath of that page which searches a database of web authors, and then returns the authors email address. after that I loop to add input sendto's for each one found. Code:
