In reference to an e-commerce website, is it possible (using Active Server Pages) to obtain the IP address of a particular user? I would like to get an address that uniquely identifies the user. If so, how would that be done?
View RepliesI'm trying to do a postcode lookup. I'd like to obtain the value of a text field in a form before submission than pass that value to another asp page (which does the processing then passes the values back) via a hyperlink. I don't want to submit the form as I have another button to do that later when the user has completed the form.
I assume I'd have to do this with a Javascript function but I have several problems, I don't seem to be able to get the value and I don't know how to put it into an asp variable to use in the hyperlink.
Is their a client side VBscript command that I can use to post the local IP
address of the machine back to my web server.
I want to obtain the client's side IP address of their machine. However
because my IIS stands behind a firewall and uses reverse hosting techniques,
the http headers contains the firewall's IP instead of the client's.
I have a request from the boss to make a report that will require me to display how many hours something has been in a particular state. (As in status). Hard to explain. Anyway, I need to go to the table in the db, find all rows for a particular trouble ticket, find when they were put into one of our 7 statuses, when they were put into another status (this info is already in those rows), then determine how many hours they spent there in
each status.
So a ticket report will say that ticket 1000 spent 4 hours in customer research, 5 hrs in our company coding. 3 in our company testing, 4 in customer testing, etc.
The thing is, It has to assume an 8-5 workday, and leave out any hours which don't fall in between 8 am to 5 pm, and also rule out any weekends.
I am writing an ASP that writes info to a database. The application does not reqire the user to log in as it doesn't have any authentication process, but as part of the information I write to the database, I need to pass in the user's Windows XP username. I don't want to have to ask the user to enter their username, so is there a way of obtaing the user's XP logon username without them having to type it?

I have it right now as

And when I place them in my validation that gets passed to the address bar they do not store with the value they are given. Am I pulling them from the form wrong or is their a special way that it should be passed to the address bar of my redirect error page?
Permission denied. Address 'zzz.zzz.z.zzz' is not an allowable remote socket address.
What is the significance of this error, and what should be looked into to fix the problem?
(if this is of relevance: My sandbox is localhost.. so zzz.zzz.z.zzz is internal ip)
I'm having a bit of trouble with an ASP form that I'm maintaining. Someone else wrote it and I'm new to CDO objects. I have a CDO.Message and a CDO.Configuration.
I set up the configuraton fields for the port and smtp server's ip address to be used. The configuration property of the message is set to be the new configuration object.
Then there's a ton of stuff appending bits and pieces to the text body.
Finally we have the message's Send method being called. That's where it breaks.
It seemed to just stop working one day. When I submit the form, the message returned is simply:
error '8004020f'
I know from the MSDN website that this error code means 'Failure in obtaining user token.' What I don't know is how to fix it!

i've wrote a function which will remove valid email addresses, it's pseudo addresses such as "blah @ blah.com" or "blah_at_blah_dot_com" or "blah_at_blah_._com"

I have been developing an online payment system using classic ASP
which uses Msxml2.ServerXMLHTTP to submit an XML package to a 3rd party payment
system. The website the payment system is part of is one of many on a
Server 2000 / IIS5.0 installation. Each web site on my server has its
own IP address. The 3rd party payment system is hosted on another
server not under my control.
The issue I have is that when the XML package is submitted, the 3rd
party system is not registering the correct IP addresss for the
originating request from the website, it is registering the 'Core' or
first IP address on the server. The originating IP address is part of
their authentication model and so the XML submission is failing
because the wrong IP address is being passed through.
Ive been looking everywhere for some simple street address validation. All I can find is email. Im not that great at working with string because I forget a lot =P but how can I check a string so that the format is like a street address.
