Since I updated Office 2000 to SP3, my ASP code has failed when executing this function:

I had to uninstall and reinstall Office 2000 without service pack 3 in order for it to work....
I have one text field in MSSQL that holds the entire text article, and I would like a stored procedure or a function to break the article into pages based on the character limit per page. However, I don't want it to break into the middle of a word.
I can then use NEXT/PREVIOUS to navigate the pages.
Any ideas?
I have a for loop inside the loop I am populating a schedule table...I need to place a page break after each table is created that way When one prints each schedule table it will be on one page.

View Replies View RelatedI have say 100 records. I am displaying 10 records per page with 4 columns each per row. And i am able to force page break after 10 records on all pages. Noe one column contains dynamic content. So if the dynamic content is more the page is filled with data.
If the dynamic content is less, the page is not filled completely. So is there a way to check number of lines per page and then fill in the remaining page with another record. In brief displaying records based on page height and then force a page break.
I have a login page that Test's for the username and then tests for the password. If these test true then I redirect them to the member area. What I want to test for is if there is 1 user logged in with Session("test") = 1 and another user logs in with the credentials to set Session("Test") = 1 then the first session will terminate. The new user will then be able to navigate the member area.There will also be other user on with a Session("Test") = xxx where xxx is the Primary key of the validation table.

I'm trying to convert this whole process ti MYSQL but the program does not recognize PHP files to upload data and their is no way to change that. I have contacted the vendor and they said they only support access and not mysql.
If you click on the link it will download a zip file of the page i need help with. What i am trying to do is leave the asp format as is so that the data can upload to a mysql database instead of a access DB. I know there is a way to connect ASP to mysql, but he methods i have tried have been unsuccessful.

I have created 2 asp pages called testa.asp and testb.asp
testa.asp has a link to go to next page testb.asp
testb.asp has a form that ask you for a reference number and post it
to the same page testb.asp
If the reference number is not blank, it will just write out what the
reference number is.
Now my problem....
If you go to testa.asp and click on the link to go to testb.asp you
will see the form. At this point, if you click the back button, it
till take you back to testa.asp ALL FINE SO FAR.
If you go to testb.asp again and see the form, enter a number say 33
and click on search. This will now show you the number you have just
entered. NOW - click on the BACK BUTTON, it will just show you exactly
the same page ! WHY does it not go back to the FORM in order to refill
in a different number. Code:
I'm using formmail.asp which is an emailing utility. Basically, the user
fills out a request page, clicks "Submit" and the page posts to formmail.asp
which emails the user information.
I'm running IIS5 on a Win2k server box and recently ran the Windows Updates
(the last time I do that). Anyway, that emailing form doesn't work now on
any of the sites I host. Any ideas?
If an ASP page works locally on your system but doesn't work remotely on the web hosts server and your only alteration to the page before uploading is your connection string to make it point in the right direction on their server then surely the fault has to be the path to the servers database doesn't it?
Or is there another possibility why the page would show up an error page.
am creating a asp page that wiil fetch data from database and export that to excel. not using excel objet, am creating a HTML table to display the data. Now that it displays the data correctly in IE, I want to it to be stored in excel file too.
If I create a file in code, it creates the file. But the file shows up 0 bytes. and holds nothing. Anybody pl guide me how would I redirect my output to the excel file.

My boss wants me to develop this page so that users can click on a button alongside an employee's page and this will open up the company Expenses Claim Form with some of the fields automatically filled in, pulled from the same SQL database that the webpage gets its info from.
I have been looking this up for *weeks* now, but the only solutions I can see involve the dot net framework, 3rd-party plug-ins or installing the Microsoft ODBC driver for Excel. My boss will not accept any of these solutions, as we are a huge organisation and this has to work accross the entire system. We're stuck with MS Office 2002, Windows XP and SQL Server 2000.
So far the best I can manage is getting the Excel form to open (but without the fields filled in), which I accomplish using the following code:

So I believe (but not sure) some character(s) in a Ntext sql server
field "desc_text" is confusing the Excel file and causing it to error
(and crashes Excel)
So far, I have attempted three fixes with no success
1) Tried to convert the data type in the SQL query:
CAST(sr.desc_text AS VARCHAR(255))
2) Tried to convert the data type in the vbscript:
<% desc_text1 = Cstr(rs.fields.item("desc_text").value)%>
3) Tried append an apostrophe to the beginning of the field so that
Excel would not read it as a formula. (this might have worked, but
Excel does not treat an apostrophe the same from an export as it does
if you typed it in directly)

Also, if you have any ideas on how to isolate and identify the
specific record and character(s) that is causing the error, that would
be great. I have it narrowed down to a record set of 600 records, and
the error occurs if I include beyond the 130th character position. The
problem does not occur if I use CAST(sr.desc_text AS VARCHAR(129))

View Replies View RelatedI have 3 asp pages. The first page (login.asp) takes the parameter values(userid, groupid, locationid and deptid) based on the login (validate using a table). On submit the page params.asp is executed. Here the user has to select the filtering.
Then the page results.asp is executed. When the result is in excel format only the parameter value p_attdate (p_attdate is the value on page params.asp) contains a value.
The value of p_gid(p_gid is a session variable) remain null. BUT when the output is in html format, the parameter value p_gid return the correct value. I want the output to be in excel format but the sql statement is returning the wrong result. Only p_attdate is returning the correct value. I think because p_attdate is a form variable.
Can anyone tell me why value of p_gid is always null when the output is in excel format???

We've built a page that allows users to enter items that will ultimately
become a list. One particular user enters them into the textarea on the
page and for some reason always puts a hard return into the textarea before
she submits. This goes into SQL as a line break and it's screwing up how
the page renders.
How do I find this via code so that I can replace it? I've tried looking
for chr(13) + chr(10) and vbCr and vbCrLf and replacing them with "" but it
doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something?

I've been trying to add some lines breaks in a ASP email. I've tried with CHR(10) and with vbCrLf. Every test I get the emails without the line breaks.
